It seems that most believers of UR are the B.O.T.H.S. type of believers?

That's 'Baptism Of The Holy Spirit' type believers? That is, believe/operate in the gifts, "Charismatic", "Full Gospel", "tongue talkers" whatever you want to call it. I never gave it much thought, but it seems that by and large this is the case.

Yes, on this discussion board, although their are other discussion boards where the trend is that all of that 'stuff' is no longer applicable.

Anywho....I tend to view the Holy Spirit as the manifest power of God rather than a 3rd person.  And yes, I do believe that God still demonstrates His power through the gifts of the Spirit.

31 Yet be zealous for the greater graces. And still I am showing you a path, suited to transcendence...................

If I should be speaking in the languages of men and of the messengers, yet should have no love, I have become resounding copper or a clanging cymbal.
2 And if I should have prophecy and should be perceiving all secrets and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so as to transport mountains, yet have no love, I am nothing.
3 And if ever I should be morselling out all my possessions, and if I should be giving up my body, that I should be boasting, yet may have no love, in nothing do I benefit.
4 Love is patient, is kind. Love is not jealous. Love is not bragging, is not puffed up,
5 is not indecent, is not self-seeking, is not incensed, is not taking account of evil,
6 is not rejoicing in injustice, yet is rejoicing together with the truth,
7 is forgoing all, is believing all, is expecting all, is enduring all.
8 Love is never lapsing: yet, whether prophecies, they will be discarded, or languages, they will cease, or knowledge, it will be discarded.
9 For out of an instalment are we knowing, and out of an instalment are we prophesying.
10 Now whenever maturity may be coming, that which is out of an instalment shall be discarded.
11 When I was a minor, I spoke as a minor, I was disposed as a minor, I took account of things as a minor. Yet when I have become a man, I have discarded that which is a minor's.
12 For at present we are observing by means of a mirror, in an enigma, yet then, face to face. At present I know out of an instalment, yet then I shall recognize according as I am recognized also.
13 Yet now are remaining faith, expectation, love -- these three. Yet the greatest of these is love.

Great post Chuck. One thing for sure - we certainly note need ANOTHER thing to divide us. My point for asking is to see if there was a correlation between a belief/operation in those kings of 'gifts' and revelation concerning UR.

We have PLENTY of evidence that gifted-ness does not necessarily = Godliness!!!

I believe I've noticed that Byron...seems to me a lot of folk came out of the AG.  Pretty sure Eby and some of his contemporaries did.  I agree...not something to divide over...if scripturally done, I think folk from both sides of that fence can live together for the most part...because Paul did teach "decently and in order"...if we would all stick to that.  God's blessing.

I don't think any doctrine concerning gifts makes one believe in ur.  But it was actually His Spirit that brought me to this belief.

I can also understand why one would use the love chapter to disqualify the gifts because in my experience I have seen a lot of clanging cymbols.  I do believe that chapter is  magnifying the fruits above the gifts in the context of fellowship, and there is a place where all is known and only love remains.  What a beautiful chapter!

The Sonship/Kingdom people came out of Pentecostalism and most of them pretty soon found out about UR. There seems to be more and more acceptance of it in this circles latley. But of course Father opened also the eyes of others that come from different traditions. The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (or whatever you want to call it) has been a great blessing in my own life.
It is much more possible for the sun to give out darkness than for God to do or be, or give out anything but Blessing and Goodness.- William Law

Man can certainly flee from God... but he cannot escape him. He can certainly hate God and be hateful to God, but he cannot change into its opposite the eternal love of God which triumphs even in his hate. --Karl Barth

Personal - I pray much in the Spirit and with my understand throughout the day.

I know that the manifestations of the spirit are given for the common good. I want to manifest the spirit because I know it helps me, and I'm in a position to then be a better help in the Christian world.

I know that there are numerous studies on this subject....here's just one...

It's probably about 50/50 on those believers that have a specially intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit and those believers in Christ who are relatively/comparatively clueless about their lifelong Companion.  I personally wouldn't have come into UR without tongues and interpretation of tongues.  The interpretation of tongues has guided my studies from the start.  That's how I found out about Jakob Jocz, Elhanan Winchester, Charles Chauncy, the reliability of the Concordant Literal New Testament, and various other significant authors, people, study resources, written works, etc.  And I've dealt with too many emotional issues along the way to where if it weren't for the interpretation of tongues, I'd of probably abandoned UR, Christianity, etc. 'cause not knowing something when I get tweaked is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE to me.  Having to know something when I get tweaked is a NONNEGOTIABLE.

Others can rest is blessed ignorance assurance, but that's not how God created me to be.  The Lord's told me a couple of times when I've discovered absolutely mind-blowing truth that He'd of been disappointed if He couldn't have seen that look on my face because I held on like a mad dog until I KNEW.  He's commended me several times for not letting go as easily as a lot of other Christians do.

A real chip off of the ol' Cornerstone or whatever...

Yet a lot of believers in UR have come into UR through almost totally academic means.  Their faith is 90% cerebral with God at least having a tithe of their spirit involved.  A lot of believers have no idea of the vastness of the recreated human spirit.  Ephesians 3 is a clue along those lines.  No other prayer short of all of that would have done.

Some people come into UR through mostly academic means, as I said.  But whether you're talking about those whose heads spin around several times until they hurl in a Pentecostal service [like me] or whether you're talking about those who've come into UR [nearly solely] on the "weight of the evidence" in the Hebrew and Greek, the common denominator is people that wrestle with the Angel of the Lord all night long, like Jacob, and won't let go until they're blessed.

Actually, I'm more of a "What the HECK is going ON in this CRAZY WORLD and What the HECK is this thing called Christianity and what is it really supposed to be like???" kind of person.

Having spent most of the sixties and seventies in the Charismatic, and Pentecostal churches, I guess I would qualify to a degree. In the sixties my family attended the United Pentecostal Church. My Dad was a part time minister. I received the gift of tongues when I was in sixth grade at a revival meeting. In the UPC we were taught a doctrine of outward holiness. We didn't have a TV, couldn't go to movies, and I couldn't go to dances in junior high. I got teased a lot, but I was told that I was suffering for the cause of Christ etc. When my family moved to Colorado from Missouri, we distanced ourselves from the UPC. We attended a non-denominational church that some friends of my Mom and Dad attended. In the  eighties, and nineties, I attended an Evangelical Friends church. It was similar to a Southern Baptist church in belief except for the absence of water baptism, and communion. Communion in an Evangelical Friends church is open sharing during the worship service. Sometimes what people share is edifying, and of the spirit, at other times it isn't. What I didn't like in the churches I attended was the monthly meetings. Monthly meeting is a church meeting to discuss church business, and it is open to all attendees, and anyone else who wants to stay after 12 noon on Sunday and delay their Sunday dinner. It often got ugly with people attacking each other over different stuff. Church politics, good grief. My first wife was a daughter of a Friends minister, and she enjoys going to monthly meeting, and being confrontational. My daughters went to college at Friends schools, and met many fine wonderful people and got good educations there. I now attend a fairly liberal Episcopal church. However, there are a couple of people I talk to who can speak the language so to speak of the Charismatics. I have never given a message in tongues in a church or prayer meeting setting. In fact I hadn't prayed in my prayer language for a very long time, until just recently. It happened after reading The Holy Spirit and You, by Dennis and Rita Bennett. It's an excellent book for anyone who is interested in the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He gives a lot of good teaching on the subject. It is teaching I never really received in all the years I attended the pentecostal, and charismatic churches. I guess I should note that I have a half cousin who is the head pastor of an AG church. One of the largest in the US I've been told. He's written books, and been on TV. But I'm not one who is interested in going to a large church anymore. I been there and done that. I enjoy being where I'm at now in the Episcopal church. I've met many wonderful people there, and I can play my Guitar and Mandolin every once in awhile with other musicians, sing in the choir etc. I feel like this is where God wants me for now.
