the more I look into the actual Greek words used to defend ECT the more astounded I am at the way these words have been perverted and corrupted  to bolster the horrific concept of God torturing billions forever in fire.According to Strongs concordance the word translated as 'lake' in the KJV and most other translations actually means 'pond'. I just looked it up and its true..it means POND not necessarily LAKE. But of course the vision of a fiery lake is way more scary and fits better with a terrifying view of God.

3041. limn? ►

limn?: a lake
Original Word: λίμνη, ης, ἡ

Interesting findings darryl!

Did some digging https://biblehub.com/greek/3041.htm

Strong's Exhaustive Concordance
lake.

Probably from limen (through the idea of nearness of shore); a pond

Mentions a connection to "limen"
https://biblehub.com/greek/3040.htm

Which surprisingly means "a haven". Sounds similar to "heaven" or "safe heaven". Jesus' safe harbor is closeby.  :cloud9:

Like you said, pond of fire corrects, so people realize that sin is evil and are convinced to believe in Christ to be saved. Christ comes from haven on boat and rescues them from drowning.

The Lord is like a lifeguard, He won't let people drown on their own forever.  :HeartThrob:

Hi All,

Been a long time since I have posted but saw this about the Lake of Fire and decided to give my thoughts as to what it is. As to the fire, I think it could be the Holy Spirit. Remember John said (Matt.3:11-12)" indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and WITH FIRE. Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire". I think this unquenchable fire is a spiritual fire, that is why it cannot be quenched it's not a physical fire.

The Lake of Fire is a "second death" Rev.20:14). Tie this and the above into what Paul was talking about in (Rom.6:1-10) . We have a physical birth and a spiritual birth, chances are, we have a physical death and a spiritual death. We have to die to sin and be buried with Christ. When we receive the Holy Spirit we will have died the SECOND DEATH.  I believe being baptized into Christ with the Holy Spirit is the Fire. In other words we all will have to be converted and cleansed. Doesn't it say that we all will be salted with fire?

Most are baptized in a lake or pool of water. Now where or what this lake is remains a mystery. Has anyone give a thought to CHRIST as being this LAKE since we are baptized into him and buried with him?  I could be wrong, if I am I pray God will show me differently.

The location I'm not sure about, but consider in the OT and NT we read a stream of fire coming out under God's throne.
We also read that a water trickles from the Temple and turns into a huge river.
God sits like a refiner and a fullar's soap.
So God is actively at work. Fire from underneath His throne.

Could the Lake be in His throne room? We read about a crystal sea (sea an lake are used interchangebly. I only found one writing outside Scripture about it. In a muslim writing there's a story about the queen of Sheba visiting Solomon. At first she thought his throne room was flooded. It wasn't, It was a crystal floor.
A lake of glass in a throne room...?

Hi WhiteWings,

You may be right on the location of the lake. So much to ponder :Chinscratch:
