Titus 2:11

Here's my personal rankings of a personal favorite verse of mine, Titus 2:11. I frequently use this passage when evangelizing people to believe in Jesus Christ with faith alone and proving Universal Salvation is true, so I looked through all it's versions and chose the one best for evangelism.

King James Version, KJV: For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

6/10 = Good for its time, 1611, but its age has begun to show. The English language has changed over time, and similarly to how Jesus chose to speak Aramaic, we must show the Gospel in a way where it's easily understandable to the most people as possible.

New King James Version, NKJV: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

7/10 = The Old English "eth" and "th" has been removed, which is an improvement. However, while I understand that "all men" means everyone, like mankind, I've seen some people confuse "all men" to falsely meaning "all of the male gender", when meanwhile all genders will be saved, all men, all women, all humans.

New International Version, NIV: For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.

8/10 = Now it's "all people" which is better. But, some ECTers may falsely say that "Oh, it's only an offer of salvation, not the real thing".

English Standard Version, ESV: For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,

9/10 = "bringing" I find is much more powerful translation than "offer". It's like if I said I'm offering you a $100 versus I'm bringing you $100.

You're probably wondering, where's 10/10? Well, that's how I would rate the original Greek manuscripts containing this verse, it's always best to check the original source.

Think of antropology, the study of humanity, mankind. Adam = Man. Mankind meaning, all of the descendants of man.

There are many different Greek manuscripts, so this isn't the only one. However, I believe that the best way to get the most accurate translation is to look at the direct source.

Awesome;- bringing salvation-  deliverance,preservation,being placed in a condition of salvation.

Has appeared- become visible, to become clearly known.

All- literally every man/Adam descendant

The amplified is not too bad;  " For the remarkable, undeserved grace of God that brings salvation, has appeared to all men."

Young Literal - " For the saving grace of God was manifested to all men."

Literal S V - " For the saving grace of God has appeared to all men."

Personal blend - " For the remarkable undeserved grace of God, that placed us in a condition of salvation,
                           has become clearly known to all men. "

I read a lot of Rotherham version, along with Greek interlinear, touched by KJV with Greek words available to ckeck;

Reading on a bit in Titus; 3;6 " So that having been justified by His grace, we might become [ to be appointed/established]
                                                  heirs according to the expectation of the age of life."

Titus 2;11-14 {Rotherham} " For the favour of God, bringing salvation to all men, has shone forth,putting us under discipline-
                                           in order that-
                                           we should live in the present age in a sober-minded and righteous and godly manner, prepared to
                                           welcome the happy hope[expectation] and forth shining of the glory of the great God
                                           and our saviour Christ Jesus-
                                           Who gave Himself up in our behalf that He might redeem us from ALL manner of lawlessness;
                                           and purify for Himself a people as His own treasure-
                                          zealous of noble works." Quote of Psalm 130;8]

The English number of words, used to try and translate the Greek, are many; bit like needing a thesaurus to see all the variables.
I.M.O this is the literal tower of Babel- the wars and disputes over translations and word variables are many.
Highlights the need to go to the Author, not the printer.

I was just reading this lately and I wondered whether ?to all people? referred to ?has appeared? or to ?bringing salvation?. As I looked it up in the blueletterbible in the Greek I thought it referred to ?bringing salvation?, which I found exciting!

Indeed, bringing salvation.
Paul stated that in 1 Tim 2:6 "To each in their own time. "
All will learn this data.
Those who lived and died before Christ Jesus will have a lot to learn.
Those who heard about Him yet were not called will have to learn how what He did and achieved covers all their ignorance and unbelief.
Paul gave the specific observation how he, considered the chief of sinners, had no say in his conversion, and had been delegated to his position before he was born. 
So the coming ages will be electrifying and the start of great change for mankind.
