What is damnation?

Damnation = krima = Judgment / condemnation of wrong.

Decision (severe or mild).

Sentence of judge.

Greater = perissos

Matt. 23:14...Mark 12:40....Luke 20:47

Compare translations.

RSV = greater condemnation

Holman = harsher punishment

Douey- Rheims = greater judgment

ISV =greater condemnation

Literal standard = more abundant judgment

YLT = abundant judgment

Worsley = heavier judgment
Are our broadest hopes broad enough? Shall there be a nook or abyss, in all the universe of God, finally unlightened by the Cross? Shall there be a sin, or sorrow, or pain unhealed? Is the very universe, is creation in all its extent, a field wide enough for the Son of God?

One of the features I found just under the surface of the KJV is judgment rendered as condemnation, and condemnation rendered as damnation.  There is a bias toward more intimidating and emotionally-loaded words. :punish:

As if Hell and brimstone were not enough... :doh:
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

Brother Laz: the KJV has managed to butcher our Lord's righteous judgment into the ghastly concept of unending despair, adding greater to it.

What the hell is greater damnation? How much more distress can be added to the picture?

Perhaps even greatest damnation!  I don't think the religious establishment cares about despair, mental/emotional breakdowns and even suicides as long as the pews and offering plates are full.

My brother Laz: much of the Church world needs a radical alignment within the Living One.

The royal road of our Father is one of becoming like Him, transformed by His love and grace and glory. This is not a one step program, but one of gradually dying to yourself, and your faith, and entering into the faith of the Son of God. When you crash into the living God, the encounter is certain to renovate every square inch of your life's boat.

Judgement isn't a bad thing by default in the Bible. (King David asked to be judged)
Everyone will be judged because that's the only way to separate the saints from the sinners.
The 'damned' will indeed be in a bad place because God won't be mocked.
That ends the bad news.

Being damned = found lacking/guilty/etc doesn't say anything about the severity and/or duration.
The punishment is described elsewhere. So judgement isn't any sort of proof supporting ET/ED/UR.

For those who have eyes to see the most cherished ET verses are actually strong UR proof.

Matt 25:46 ?These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.?
Rev 14:11 ?And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.?

yes..I've noticed that as well...pejorative words
