In the vision the Lord gave to John, in chapter 12 -

verse 1 - And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head..

Gave birth to A manchild, which I believe to be referring to the Son of man - and we know Who that is - the ‘dragon’ tries to devour (destroy) Him at birth, but instead He ascends to God’s throne.. There’s a teaching that says the manchild who ascends is Christians as sons of God, but ascending was often in ‘esoteric’ teachings of “the nations”. Reviewing this chapter - which I very much believe is an insert and a total history (which if not known acts as a sort of ‘lock’ on the vision, one of 3.5, or 4 lol).

It’s not hard reading the description of the woman/nation/faith which gave birth and it was a Great Sign, the 12 stars around her head isn’t hard to figure, but “the moon under her feet” seems a little harder.

When I read “the moon under her feet” today, it came to mind how the ancient ‘religions’ of the nations around her/Israel I have read were ‘moon god’ religions - fertility religions with horrible sacrifices to insure fertility of crops and the sun returning from solstice - that after the Assyrian and Babylonian captivities.. the temptation toward those ‘moon god’ religions had been overcome and sloughed off, thus the moon under her feet..? (A ‘clue’ provided as to just what the “Great Sign” was/is?)

Hi MG, wouldn't it be the difference between being a "source of light" (sun) and that which only "reflects light" (moon)?

It's a celestial alignment. A prophecy.

Virgo is the woman.
The moon is the moon.
The crown is made up of 9 stars of Leo/Lion/Judah and Mercury, Mars and Venus

At that time Jupiter, the king planet will be in her womb.

Yeah at specific years Jupiter will stay in Virgo's womb for 9 months (retrograde movement) and then leaves virgo trough her birth canal.

That alignment took place when Mary was pregnant.
The alignment is very rare but there is one in modern times too.

HERE I've writing more on that topic, but it's not complete yet.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Thanks... I'll read that.. as I know prophecy almost always has at least double fulfillment, a local and a widespread. The chapter is a very important one.

It begins with the "great sign" (a virgin/maiden conceives) and the manchild who instead of being destroyed at birth instead as the Lord said (Luke 22:69) - "from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God."

And the chapter ends with the dragon (force) turning his attention to "making war" - which though in it's local fulfillment, it acts as an insert (and total history - read it that way and see what historical things come forth - hard to believe they are missed!) - but the conclusion of the chapter brings us to
chapter 13, and how the dragon (force) carries out the "making war".

The verse about making war, of course reflects Rev.16:14,15,16 - the gathering (of the tares/goats - consider when the wheat is gathered into His barn, 1Cor.15:23; and the order the Lord said the tares and wheat are gathered; the tares to fire) to Armageddon..

Consider Mt.23:39 - when the Lord said, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you will not see Me again, until, you say "blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD".

Verse R.12:17 saying the dragon (force) turns more fully toward "making war with those who have the commandments of God and (by then?) (Greek) have, hold, possess.. the testimony of Jesus.. (And next we see "the nations" (turmoiled sea) producing the final beast (force).

P.S. I used to be an astrologer.. Only non’professional’ and not the foretelling aspect! Though there are ‘trends’ one can likely read.. But more as a science.. Though spiritual!

There’s fascinating things involving His creation involving the stars, planets, etc. and how they all do intricate dances with one another. I gave it up because I figured too many Christians would not listen to what I’ve learned from the Scripture, both UR and eschatology. [Not that anyone listens anyway. lol] I always thought it would be so cool to have in my head at all times where each astrological thing was.. It like a clock, but with two faces (tho I strongly wanted to day 3, have to think about that later..) And this clock with two faces, one turning/cycling clockwise every day, has ten hands all cycling at different speeds, counterclockwise. Forming angles (of energy) with each other.. like light, either flowing well together or at angles clashing with each other. :laughing7: ...a fun study. God ‘found’ me while I was first studying it.. I was in the Rocky Mountains one sunny day.. (And 40 years later no churching’s been done.. a very joyful and peaceful way.. tho also salted with fire of course..

Just something I have thought about before

 Amen Jugghead! Most times I think if the moon, I think of one night looking out a window, seeing a picnic table under bright moonlight and it looked like the light was splashing down on the scene.. But my favorite moon phase is the slim crescent moon (that begins each Hebrew month) and also the fullish moon in a blue sky..

I truly believe one day, the moon will literally (caution! word literal.. lol) amen, “reflect” red.. so bad “missing the mark” is, a bottomless pit (“abyss”) of potential - which, logically, some of the worst must be allowed in order to complete this “knowing of both good and evil”. (Rev.9, “out of the smoke” “of the abyss”..)

I read today in 1 Corinthians 10 or 11 that “everything belongs to God” does it say in heaven and earth? It doesn’t have to anyway.. But many of His things, during this life as we presently know it, get confiscated.. It’s good to see the moon is under the woman’s feet.. (reflection with all its ability to be deceiving?!?) But she is “clothed with the sun” the true source of Light. :dsunny:

Very interesting.. I didn’t find anything to disagree with.. And I know you’re not done. :gsmile:

:Chinscratch: I’ll have to read the chapter now to see what the verses suggest with the church being also born of Israel.. which of course it was..

..Continuing on the idea of the church as the (male) body of the Lord.. and through the chapter.. As prophecy..

Was birthed... the dragon did seek to destroy/devour it.. baby christianity

Before she gave birth.. another portrayal in the heavens, besides the woman.. a dragon which has “dragged a third of the stars” after it.. who then turns toward the woman to devour the child as soon as born and the child will rule the nations with an iron rod.. Truth, a measure(ing rod) that ultimately cannot be broken.

Ps. 2:7-9 says
“7 I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9
You shall break them with a rod of iron...” — unbreakable Truth

The boy was taken up and put on God’s throne..

And woman - which in the local fulfillment I’ve taken to be the faith upon Earth, what they call Judeo-Christian that is, as to how the verses and portrayal make sense - she runs to the wilderness (not as ‘civilized’ as the Roman/Graeco (& Hellenized) and Hebrew and East world at the time..

If as you say this is also a portrayal of the body of Christ snatched away.. it has to agree with the other verses about Christ’s return at the last trumpet.. “at the sounding of the seventh trumpet the world is become our Lord’s.. time to reward your servants..” (Rev.11)

To where she is nourished for 3.5 Hebrew years (and in the local/original fulfillment different 3.5 duration fulfillment)

There’s war in heaven and the dragon&co. are no longer allowed access to the
heavens.. hooray much was won by the manchild/the Son of man’s death, resurrection and ascension..

And the dragon is very angry and fiercely persecutes the woman..

...So you’re thinking the church has been snatched away and Israel flees to wilderness (3.5 of a prophetic week?) if so, the scattering of Israel.. Then is persecuted again.. then is given the wings of an eagle to flee to another wilderness place.. for another 3.5

[In a local fulfillment as the woman being the faith (judeo-christian, at the time more christian) in their new place, of the faith, are fiercely persecuted(inquisitioned) but the faith is given the two wings of an eagle to fly (sail?) to a new wilderness (abt 1620, at least the arrival) for a 3.5 time kept safe from the face of the dragon but then the serpent guise of the dragon (beguiler) spews a flood after the faith attempting to wash her off the face of the Earth -

This too can fit Israel and also the whole Judeo-Christian..

But!! The Earth will swallow the flood — drought coming?!

Then the dragon turns his attention more fully to “making war” against the rest of her children — which I figure has to be the gathering to “make war” at Armageddon against Israel who “have the commandments of God” and by then “the testimony of Jesus” — considering Mt.23:39 when the Lord told Jerusalem “you will not see me  again - until - you say, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD”.

I don’t know if I’ve read it as you do, concerning the body of Christ..

..But, I’ve never believed there’s a duration between the body of Christ “meeting Him at His coming” at the 7th trump” which trumpet sounding is the bowls which are (surely?) the final results and consequences of mankind’s doings and seem to occur/are poured out “quickly” I’ve thought perhaps even all at the same time... (becoming a lake/very large mushroom of fire?) ..the blood John saw being a black and white scene? (oil?) .. pretty literal?  :cloud9: You're welcome. Continuing that thought, this is also why the 10 words were written on 2 stones, because only a split work (think hooves here, also like a foundation, but there are many others hidden in plain sight) is clean. The 10 summed up into 2, but the 2 were originally expanded via the Torah, which is why it MUST be the foundation, because it's ALL the same. Blessings....

Some thoughts......

Israel as the moon. Torah, as reflected glory. Colossians 2:17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

Shadows of the that which was coming, the Word made flesh, Jesus.

2 Cor 4:6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.

The woman is clothed with the sun. Rev 1:16 "In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance."

The woman, His Bride, clothed in glory direct indwelling glory, gestating the manchild... Eph 4....until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.(manchild)

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming(dragon). 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

In Revelations the seven stars were the messengers of the 7 churches. Perhaps the 12 stars on her head are the apostles. I see this more as an ongoing process in the now of God the I AM, and the son of His glory in the midst of the ecclesia than past/future prophecy. 12 on her head. 12 x 12 x1000 a multitude of sons/apostles caught up to the throne. Sons and daughters who have overcome and "are seated with at the right hand of God in Christ."
The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

Amen.. I don't doubt it at all.. And it's, also, a fascinating chapter when read as an insert and history of the faith from the great sign - a virgin conceives Is.7:14 to the final gathering (of tares?) to fiery Armageddon just barely before the wheat is gathered into His barn.. What's fascinating in that aspect is can be seen Herod the Great.. (albeit indirectly) ..the ascension.. the rule to come of Truth, a measure that cannot be broken (iron) ..the inquisition.. the mayflower.. a coming widespread drought? (perhaps ppl of that day would benefit from knowing about) and verse 17 with consideration of Mt.23:39!  ..then chapter 13 tells how the final war comes about.. namely Ps.2:1 - Why do "the nations" rage? (Raging..? a blend of anger and a sort of madness? Not all that uncommon in Earthly history..)
