The aionian role of believers throughout ages? Until 'the end' (teleo – "which root (tel-) means – reaching the end (aim) – which is well illustrated with the old pirate's telescope, unfolding (extending out) one stage at a time to finally function at full scope". [ https://biblehub.com/greek/5055.htm ]

Until all is done /accomplished? – The Lord said, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and disciple all the nations.." (Mt.28:18-19)

1 Corinthinans 15, verse 25 says, "for He must reign until He has put ALL enemies under His feet."

Jesus continued,  "..teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age."

The original word here "completion" can be translated as age, ages, time or world. It is from the Greek word "sunteleia" – a completion, consummation, end. (And "tel" – aim.)

His work carried out until all is completed.

Devil's advocate: putting all enemies under his feet may mean the enemies are in "prison" aka hell: as in an Earthly kingdom a King rules over all: the good and the evil, but the evil don't necessarily convert, they are just forced into submission.

I don't believe this of course, but I often think this would be the rebuttal of ET believers. What would one say in response?

I think it would be this verse — but not easy! As the idea of God's perfection seems to be so foreign to the ET belief.

But Acts 3:21, Peter said a while after the pouring out of God's Spirit on the believers,

21Heaven must take/keep Him in until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God announced long ago through His holy prophets.

Of course they may then point yo two verses later,

23Everyone who does not listen to Him will be completely cut off from among his people."

BUT, as we know, it is not a 'forever' condition! To be completely cut off .. forever, is to literally add forever to the verse.. A running with things.. assumption.. which is what the cavernous gehenna dump like pit, even 'forever' (!) existing under God's feet, is imagination!

And we can go back to verse 21 , which says there will be a restoration/restitution of "all" things.

Plain truth, seems to me, He restores everything to perfection (His perfection).. Impossible for a 'hell' or gehenna town dump scenario, where even animal bodies (and the worst criminals) were thrown, so the fires were kept burning, doesn't fit.

:Chinscratch: I’m wondering too about this verse, how the Lord said the Spirit of (like?) Elijah would yet come again.. And perhaps it’s a spirit which is part of that working of Go’s Spirit upon every heart and mind..? So also an aionian service of believers in this age (years of our Lord, A.D. and also in “the ages” following this one and before the “all in all”, the Father “makes all things new” event?
:Peace2:

oops, I forgot the verse. :punish: :laughing7:

“And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous--to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." (During the millennium/the “thousand years” and after the resurrection of all not yet born again (Rev.20) “after the thousand years”.. when begins “the judgment” (age?)
“For God knows how to preserve the unrighteous for CORRECTION/kolazo on day of judgment” Pet.2:9.

What I find interesting about the fact that the dump was always burning is, because at that time, what went into it was food that was spoiling, especially meat where flies lay their eggs, it was always burning to prevent the spread of disease.
