Greetings

Outside of God creating the physical universe for His own Glory, what was God's purpose for creating this planet and why are we here,

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose"

Also outside of His plan of redemption for all mankind.

"according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord"

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth ...... WHY

Kind Regards to all

IMO, the answer to that is "to learn"; in other words "To grow in understanding"

Why do we ask questions? Is it not to grow in understanding? And we know that with every answer, it raises even more questions.

IMO, we are on a journey of understanding, understanding what can be seen and what cannot be seen by the physical eyes. Can we actually see love with our eyes, no, but we can see the actions of love by the actions of the physical body, therefore, by those actions, what cannot be seen is revealed.

Going even a step farther of understanding what can be seen AND what cannot be seen. It is seeing what is not seen BY and THROUGH the actions of what can be seen.

We know that good exists because of the actions of the physical body
We know that evil exists because of the actions of the physical body

but the good or evil inside a person cannot be seen until the physical body reveals it through its actions

This principle also applies to the action of the mouth, the words we speak.

When Jesus said, "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man" (Matthew 15:11)

which is summed up in, "they are known by their words" and that the tongue is the hardest thing to tame

Why did God create the heavens and the earth? to reveal the things that cannot be seen by and through what can be seen.
Why are we here? to understand what cannot be seen by and through what can be seen.

and when it comes to the words spoken, it is to see what cannot be seen by what is heard

All this summed up in:

To grow in understanding (learn) about what cannot be seen by and through the things that can be seen and heard

physical life is a journey of understanding to understand spiritual life, to understand eternal life, but the word eternal is not in the context of time, but in the context of "QUALITY"

a quality of life and that quality being LOVE itself

and in Genesis 1:22 the word translated as "multiply" has the original meaning of "to increase", and I see it as, increase as a person, become a better person and this is done by increasing (growing) in understanding

and this because:

when we increase in understanding, it is the man of ignorance that dies

Wisdom is not measured by time, it is measured by understanding

I believe He is creating His own family.. (of beautiful branches) and also an enduring paradise. One that cannot be broken because His law - summed up as love.. true love and affection for all, written upon every heart. Building it into us. Into our dna.. Jesus is the prototype, "the first" ("forever preeminent").

That the fall into disobedience was no fluke but an important part. I figure God is life itself. And the Lord said He "is perfect" (Mt.5:48) And notice how "all in heaven and Earth" are learning this all important lesson all together, at once.

The whole 'trouble' with the world.. and history, etc. I figure is because when He endowed genuine thinking and reasoning ability, a whole new tree of possibilities came about.  [And He being Life, He lives through ALL the fruit, in comparison, we just a tiny bit.]

By letting things run their course, His allowing even some of the worst things to occur, is His truth proving documentary, to be viewed by all I believe during "the judgment" - the one Jesus talked about.

How does one endow genuine thinking and reasoning ability, but keep paradise being paradise? And perfect.

I figure His other option was to create us as mindless. But surely that would not be "perfect"..

Using other words, all are learning good from evil. (Life from death. Without redemption/repentance I believe all would perish (and 1/3 of His angels). BUT! Jesus said He will draw ALL to Himself, Jn.12:32.
(Ps.22:27 upon judgment 'day' (an age). (Imo) :gsmile:

I would not say He is creating a family, but extending one prior to creation. To share the glory of Jesus the first born in that household.

John 17:5 5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD WAS.

Heb 2:10 "For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY"

Heb 2:13 And again: "Here am I and the CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME."

Rom 8:29  "that he might be the firstborn among many brothers".

Rom 8:30 " those he justified, he also glorified".

I cannot see a greater gift then that outside of fellowship with God. Would you agree?

:iagree: He will “Tabernacle with mankind upon Earth and ALL things made new”! And amen, the Scripture definitely says Jesus was with Him before the foundation of the world, being forever firstborn, and preeminent. Thanks for pointing that out, I would not like to seem to be contradicting that..

:Chinscratch: "the purpose of God" - The Lord said the Kingdom is like a mustard seed, the smallest seed in the field of life.. but which becomes the biggest and tallest plant in the field so birds come and take shelter.. This occurs within each one of us individually, and also, through His "administration/program of the ages" collectively.. He becoming of course "ALL in ALL". The Kingdom being "ALL". No speck of sin/"missing the mark" (imperfection, a virulent disease? "ALL in heaven and Earth" need STRONG inoculation against? This proving of good from evil..? via this living documentary? / history..)

Like in the dream interpreted by Daniel in Daniel chapter two, the "mountain not made by hands/man, which strikes the statue of man's empires at the feet (ten toes/horns/"kings of the last hour" (divisions/seats) toppling the entire statue and it becomes dust blown away by the winds"..

"And the mountain fills the Earth" ..."knowing the LORD will cover the Earth like the waters cover the sea"!

Individual - and - collective.

Good and evil, being the same as Life and death/lack of life? Because He is life .."the light which lights all".. the spark, breath and spirit/energy of life, and "is perfect" as the Lord says in MT.5:48.

Sin / "missing the mark" being a virulent disease "ALL in heaven and Earth" need strong inoculation against? (Thus the stonings of the OT covenant with Israel preparing them for Messiah "the seed" to be birthed into and from.. Stoning requires no one to touch the (virulent) disease or come near.

And - of course, concerning UR/CU, the redemption/reconciliation of ALL, our Father "almighty" never, ever "misses the mark"! :cloud9:

Dandelion

God is Love. Love seeks relationship. He created us in a glorious plan, to both give us some choice, free will, or whatever you like to call it, so we could one day, choose to love Him back. He created because He is Love, and Love spreads its Joy.  But, there was not an easy way to do this. To give us the ability to choose, meant we would rebel. How does a just and merciful God deal with that? By having to save us, because we are sinful creatures, deserving punishment for our sins....being dead in our sins. So, He had to send the perfect sacrifice.....truly man and yet, truly God. Man to represent Mankind and God to be pure and without sin....the Lamb of God. Our Exodus miracle, in the form of a man.......... So now that we are saved, we must still each be transformed, to one day live in Heaven. For that, the Holy Spirit came, to teach us how to walk everyday in His love. So, we are righteous by Jesus' blood, and we are transformed by grace, through faith, by the work of the Holy Spirit. We are new creations! The old is gone.......
And, I believe when we come face to face, we will see clearly.

1 Corinthians 13:

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

And, I guess the Lake of Fire might have to be a final cleansing for some.....but, not the end, but a new beginning.

And, this is the purpose of God. To share His love with His creations, for all eternity.

And we all lived happily ever after!            :gguitar:

D.

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

Matthew 7:7 -8

I agree He is creating His own family, and that is why He created the universe to enjoy His children. What a pleasure to be part of that Royal eternal Family. Each day as the Gospel goes out brothers and sister become a part of it.

Although it exists on the earth now, will it eternally be in a paradise earth or in the heavenly household abode of God?  :dsunny:

Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,"Abba, Father/daddy."

God is as real as our earthly fathers.

If I go to the title of the thread and ask the question:

What is the purpose of God? My answer would be "to be Love"
and if I ask the question
What is the purpose of God for us? My answer would be the same "to be Love" which is "to create us in His image", to create beings that are "Love" just like Himself, not to just love Him in return but also to love others, to love our siblings (mankind) and we cannot do that unless we actually learn what love is, learn what God is.

which of course is what MG mentioned about "family"

So, my answer was based on that question, and I felt a little left out guys  :sigh:

Feeling a little left out was said with a hint of sarcasm so don't take that seriously  :dsunny:

Second Chorus   :violin:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:28,29

It is so good to have Jesus, the Fathers first born in the heavenly realm as our eldest brother who said

"Here am I and the children whom God has given Me Heb 2:13

CHILDREN UNLIKE THE ANGELS

"For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, Today I have begotten You" Heb 1:5

also to make us in His 'likeness'...its interesting and telling that originally, in Genesis 1:26, God was to make us in his image and according to his likeness but it only says  in Genesis 1: 27 that we are in his image...the likeness part is not mentioned...I believe humankind forming into Gods likeness comes later, as part of our experience on earth, and maybe in the next existence too, through us learning to choose the Good and reject the Evil, in my view anyway.

I believe you got something there Darrly

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD WAS.

Is the identical glory Jesus will once again contain be the same as the children of God? That glory is residing in our heavenly Father house. Do you see this as His original purpose?

Heb 2:10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

If that is true why create a physical universe to make it all possible?? Just saying
