Has anyone else thought about this inconsistency in thinking?

Those who believe in Hell say that those who go to Hell choose to go there, because they will not believe in Jesus. They say that Jesus gives us all free will and they choose evil and will be punished for eternity. Yet, when asked why the Bible says every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, they tell me that the lost will have to say this, and that it does not mean that they truly believe it.

So, God will send us to Hell, due to our free will to choose it, but He will make everyone bow and worship Him, even if it is against their free will, whether of not they believe it. Does everyone understand and follow my line of thought?

So, does this seem very strange to anyone else, too?

Thanks, everyone!

you have a very good point there D. Such points[thorns] as you mention...are as crowns of thorns that twist the very MIND OF CHRIST...

the Bible says every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father....how can a forced confession made under extreme duress give glory to God ?...all through the Bible, God hates insincere confessions/ worship

Could this passage be referring to a future time on earth when the Kingdom comes and so "everyone" will bow who is alive in the Kingdom at that time and does not refer to everyone who has ever lived? Like you could be at a party and say that "every" person was drinking vodka and it wouldn't refer to everyone in the world. Just a thought

Exactly! And, if you look at in light of the issue of free will in the Hell debate, it makes no sense.

Let's look at it in context:
Romans 14 ►
Berean Study Bible    Par ▾
The Law of Liberty
(Matthew 7:1-6; Luke 6:37-42)
1Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on his opinions. 2For one man has faith to eat all things, while another, who is weak, eats only vegetables. 3The one who eats everything must not belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him. 4Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5One man regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6He who observes a special day does so to the Lord;a he who eats does so to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

7For none of us lives to himself alone, and none of us dies to himself alone. 8If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9For this reason Christ died and returned to life, so that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

10Why, then, do you judge your brother? Or why do you belittle your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 11It is written:

"As surely as I live, says the Lord,
every knee will bow before Me;
every tongue will confess to God."b
12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

The Law of Love
(Ezekiel 14:1-11; 1 Corinthians 8:1-13)
13Therefore let us stop judging one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way.

14I am convinced and fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. 15If your brother is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother, for whom Christ died.

16Do not allow what you consider good, then, to be spoken of as evil. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18For whoever serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

19So then, let us pursue what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to let his eating be a stumbling block. 21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything to cause your brother to stumble.c

22Keep your belief about such matters between yourself and God.d Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23But the one who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that is not from faith is sin.e

And:

Philippians 2 ►
Berean Study Bible    Par ▾
One in Christ
1Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose.

3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

The Mind of Christ
(Isaiah 52:13-15)
5Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:

6Who, existing in the form of God,
did not consider equality with God
something to be grasped,
7but emptied Himself,
taking the form of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross.
9Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place
and gave Him the name above all names,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

And:

Revelation 5:13
"And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."

And, I just found this:

Bible Verses About Every Knee Shall Bow

Bible verses related to Every Knee Shall Bow from the King James Version (KJV) by Relevance - Sort By Book Order

Philippians 2:10-11 - That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;   (Read More...)

Romans 14:11 - For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Philippians 2:9-11 - Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:   (Read More...)

Isaiah 45:23 - I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Philippians 2:10 - That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;

Revelation 1:7 - Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Revelation 5:13 - And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

It seems to me that no one is under duress and that is it something that they want to do. If one could say these words, of their own free will, it seems very strange that they would then go to Hell. Supposedly those who go to Hell do so because they do not confess that Jesus is Lord. They do not accept Him as their Savior.

Please everyone, share your thoughts.

the problem is, thats reading something into the passage that is not there...Philippians 2:10 ►that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 'under the earth' doesn't sound like the New Kingdom....plus, its not the only verse that says that all will finally acknowledge God .....Romans 14:11,'It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God."
Ephesians 1:10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ'.
'...that God may be ALL in ALL 1 Cor 15......this list is not exhaustive but hopefully we all get the idea.

Those people who have visions of people who are in hell right now doesn't really make sense if there is a time when every knee will bow. I don't think that it makes much sense that God would bring people out of hell to confess and then put them back in hell unless the judgement day is right after one dies (can anyone confirm that this is not the case), and they acknowledge God and then they are sent to hell. And I also wonder where this judgment day takes place because if it is in heaven then it kind of negates the idea that the reason people go to hell is because heaven doesn't allow imperfection (those who aren't saved) in it.
