What are some specific arguments for Christian Universalism against Annihilationism? Most arguments on here seem to be against ECT, which makes sense because it is the prevailing doctrine, but? What makes Universalism more plausible than Annihilationism?

rosered

Annihilationism is directly related to the doctrine of conditional immortality, the idea that a human soul is not immortal unless it is given eternal life. Annihilationism asserts that God will eventually destroy the wicked, leaving only the righteous to live on in immortality.

the problem  is all are  sinners   there is none righteous no not one . Most are saved   from death  though fear

but we do not choose salvation  , Gods  grace is what gives us salvation , SALVATION  COMES  THOUGH JESUS CHRIST ALONE

no one can save themselves , they cannot  claim any rights of their own  , we are saved though faith and it also is a gift of God

only GOD will be exalted on that DAY   iSAIAH 2 17So the pride of man will be brought low,

and the loftiness of men will be humbled;

the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,

18and the idols will vanish completely.

19Men will flee to caves in the rocks

and holes in the ground,

away from the terror of the LORD

and from the splendor of His majesty,

when He rises to shake the earth.

20In that day men will cast away

their idols of silver and gold—

the idols they made to worship—

away to the moles and bats.

21They will flee to caverns in the rocks

and crevices in the cliffs,

away from the terror of the LORD

and from the splendor of His majesty,

when He rises to shake the earth.

22Put no more trust in man,

who has only the breath in his nostrils.

Of what account is he?

I believe it is an image of God mankind has created in his own mind  and that Image must be destroyed though   JESUS CHRIST the Rock of salvation

and rod of correction .

How many times do we fail on our own strength and  mind ?  for  me many times God is working on all of us , teaching us without Him none can do nothing of themselves  , it is the vanity  all creation is subjected to .
to learn His righteousness is the only thing that works   , so we can boast in the LORD only .  :2c:

Jesus is the reward  !!

Because God "is perfect" (Mt.5:48)

Can perfect make a mistake, or mistakes? Can "perfect" be taken by surprise by any unintended results?

And can "perfect" cannot lose something? To lose even one, is that "perfect"? Can overpowering love.. since He IS love, which means all of it, is Him. Can such love bear to lose even one?

Logos, root word of the word logic. Also "reasoning expressed in words". I will rely on God's reasoning above any person's at any time.. And I don't find that by listening to people, but by continuing to read and study His words.. especially our special 'loaf' the slim new testament, using interlinear word for word translation with links to the original words God inspired to be originally used. Personally I don't care what any person says His word says. I only care about what it says. People out and out contradict His words.. A verse will say something straight forward and straight out and along comes many people saying.. no it says this.. or that.. or does it really say..?

Choosing in most cases to stick with a group or church interpretation, or personal opinion, rather than what a verse actually says.. It's crazy!! :laughing7: I don't get it.. But! I have for 40 years now studied the bible on my own, with only the HS as a guide.. I was not taught over and over what to think the word says. I used to feel 'guilty' for not going to church. Not any more!! :cloud9:
:girlheart:

P.S. - Truth should fully reflect His character and His attributes.. such as being all powerful (He being The Almighty :cloud9: ).

P.s.s. lol, I used to believe, before joining tentmaker, that some may indeed perish.. the hitlers or the worst predators, etc.. but not since having verses pointed out which say He is gathering ALL things into Jesus.. will have ALL to be saved.. etc, etc..

"Rather than what the verse actually says."

...

What you think the Bible says is by default a personal opinion. What makes one personal opinion more valid than another? Countless people through history have read the Bible, 'with the holy spirit' and come to different conclusions.

I don't mean to sound harsh, I'm just skeptical. I want to agree with you about CU, I really do, but this type of reasoning isn't exactly sound.

I stand by my point.. If Jesus said He will draw all, I have no choice but to believe it..  Also.. I mean it rather broadly :faint: If it says He is coming a second time for example, I believe it.. It's up to us to "search out a matter" and we have great searching tools at all our fingertips.. we can read the original words used/inspired.. then there's a lot less "interpretation" involved (eventually?)

Keep searching! There's a point we get to, of certainty. surely there are some things you have reached that point on.. This is no different.

The Greek of the word the Lord used "all" is "all, every, the whole"..

One of the verses that says it all to me.. in its closer translation to the original words, is 2 Pet.2:9, how God is able "to preserve the unjust for correction upon Day of Judgment". Correction in order to toss them into fire to burn forever?

I think of all the error in the world, and in doctrines, as enchantment(s).. I'm sure we all (believers) do.. Now it's just a question of separating threads of truth from threads of not true.. (with the very tip of His sWord?)

:gsmile: :girlheart:  I am sorry.. I don't mean to offend.. God bless!
