It's interesting to read the verse (Aramaic Bible Version) of what John the Baptist said to the Sadducees and Pharisees - "Who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?! Behold, the axe is laid at the root of the tree (Greek singular) every tree, therefore, that has not produced good fruit is cut down and falls into the fire" (Mt.3:10)

Of course he was referring to the destruction of Jerusalem, which occurred in 70a.d. And was not hell, not even afterlife..

Have you ever considered this --- that because the original meaning of the word translated as "wrath" means desire, that it is talking about fleeing from the desire to come, the desire to rebuild a temple/religion based on works of the law, which is what the majority of Christian churches have done and that the fullness of the Gentiles (based on works of the law) is no different than the fullness of Israel (which was also based on the works of the law)?

Just a thought that I have considered
