There is a grain of truth in the false and pagan vision of eternal hell – that part of our humanity which remains tainted at death will be burnt away. Not necessarily a painful experience, but Scripture is clear it will be a fiery one!

Mal 3:2  " ... For He is like a refiners fire..."

Jer 23:29  " ...is not  My Word like fire..."

Rev 1:15   " ... and His eyes were as a flame of fire..."

Matt 3:12   "He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire"

This purging  by fire awaits us all.

1 Cor 3:13   " ...fire shall try every mans work..."

The part of our nature which remains outside of Christ will be burnt away, leaving clean and unblemished spirits ready for eternal, blissful life in Gods Heaven.

This and nothing else is the meaning of those passages that relate to perishing and fire after death.

"Jesus Christ, the saviour of All men, especially those who believe"

The more we've entered into Christ in this life, the less of our natures will have to be discarded before ascending to Heaven.

But even the most evil unbelievers will gain from their encounter with Holy Fire in the long run. Who would want to have their bitterness, envy and spite with them for all eternity?

Purged of imperfections by Holy Fire,  cleansed of the stain of Sin by Christ's Blood, we are then ready to enter Heaven, which will be like plunging into an ocean of infinite love.  :HeartThrob:

This is what the Lord has led me to believe , but if I've made any errors I'd be grateful to fellow tentmakers pointing them out!

if the Lord led you to believe this...how could there be any errors to be pointed out?

Noname,

If it was the Lord there can be no error.
But the Lord doesnt speak to me as clearly as He did to Paul, I dont always know if its the Lords Spirit leading me or my own heart. I am very sure about this though and perhaps I shouldnt have expressed any doubt.   I guess its just Im quite new to all the scholarship and biblical study surrounding UR which is why Im here to learn and chat much more than im here to preach.

Keep pressing in and studying.  You are on the right path.  Bear in mind much holy fire takes place in this age too.
