How does a UR believer minister to a Mormon

I have ran into quite a few Mormons, and I am quite puzzled by the purpose of their religion. Most ET believers would say that they are deceived and going to hell.

The last two Mormons I have talked to (each with a partner) have told me how much love and Joy they've had since converting to Mormanism. They seem dedicated to Jesus and talk like any other Christian. Then I ask them how they became Mormon, and both of them said they were reading the book of Mormon, and then like the book of Mormon suggests that they pray to God asking God if the book of Mormon was the truth and both said that they were supernaturally convinced in their heart when they offered that prayer.

Now if you have looked into the Mormon religion there is definitely some red flags. Joseph Smith the founder says that God was originally a man who worked his way up to become and God and that there are lots of Gods overseeing other Gods and that believers in mOrmanism can work their way into a God. Now all mormons don't believe this (the ones I talked to didnt know about it) but if the root (Joseph Smith) is not of God, how can the religion he created be of God?

So then the question comes up, how do you preach to a mormon who believes they are filled with the Joy of Jesus? Will they get thrown into the lake of fire just because they were decieved. And who confirmed to them that the book of Mormon was real? Does reading the book connect you with Satan and Satan answered them by pretending to be God. And my biggest question, what is the purpose of the deception, if followers of Mormon just want to be Christ-like. Maybe they'll never achieve the Holiness and perfection God requires to enter Heaven if there reading the Mormon book rather than the bible. I don't know, what do you think

If there motive for believing is to become a god (which I don't think they would admit), than that is just one step sideways from the lie told to Eve in the garden, you will become "like" God

Therefore they eat of the knowledge of good and evil in the book of Mormon written by a man ( a man who believed he was becoming a god)

Can they have joy and peace in believing what they do? Yes, but it is only temporary because

For God hath concluded (shut together) them all in unbelief (disobedience), that He might have mercy upon all (Romans 11:32

We were all shut together in Adam that He might have mercy upon all in Christ

My advice, let them alone for they are the blind leading the blind, remain friends with them and when you hear them speaking of conflicts within their church or themselves, and be ready, in and out of season to sow the seeds of grace

What I find interesting from the research I've done is that the book of Mormon isn't  a whole lot different from the bible at face value in what it believes it's just that Joseph Smith and others have brought these other ideas into some of the churches.

One difference is that The book of mormon teaches that God wanted Eve to eat the apple. RED FLAG - and maybe that's how Joseph Smith came up with the idea of man becoming God has scriptural.

I agree with Jugghead.. that's the thing that always seems to come up.. even in some 'good' Christian circles! ....you will be like God.. or will be a God..

We shall indeed be like Jesus.. "for we will see him as he is".. for Jesus is the decree.. psalm 2, and is "forever preeminent" ...we shall reign with Him for the thousand years.. And he must reign til he puts all things under His feet..

Anymore I think of all groups under this headimg or that heading.. they have some truth and some error.. as do most of us humans.. but one thing they all seem (to me) to have in common is someone partnered with Jesus.. or that is to say.. someone else they follow, besides Jesus-God's Word.

Each one having their own particular tweaks of God's Word.. something special the group knows.. I think it's great to learn with others and share.  And of course we can learn from others and from elders in the faith, but always it seems to end up as a following someone.. Ellen White.. Hal Lindsay (oops, did I say that! It's just they got stuck!) Joseph Smith.. whoever.. Maybe I'm just skeptical and suspicious by nature! :laughing7: Or stubborn and self opinionated! But I'm leery of all these teachers who have crowds listening to them. Especially separatist groups like the Mormons who used to have multiple wives.. did Joseph smith have a number of wives?

Well.. I liked Billy Graham though!

P.S - I was impressed lately with Paul's telling the Corinthians he wanted to present them to Jesus as a chaste virgin, betrothed to one.. We are to be married to Him (not Joseph Smith, etc)
