Nice. I love Christian music. I could listen to it all day.

I said this before on this website, but I had shut music out of my life, for the most part, for about 30 years. I was in a bad situation, and for several reasons, no longer listened to it. But, God chose to free me one day, in an interesting way, as He always does, and He not only gave me music back, but allowed me to be 'flooded' with it!

I now 'swim' in a 'sea' of music, throughout my days....both Christian and some secular and I am continually blessed by it.

So, thank you for this!

Literally singing from the heart is a personal expression- like poetry or art- would be why there is so much around us.
Like anything, though, it can be used incorrectly.
When done properly it is indescribable and can do much to inspire, soothe, the heart.
As Paul points out, if there is anything worthy of praise let your mind dwell on these things.

Can someone recommend some good music for me? I need christian stuff that isn't so much about worship but instead about God loving people and people loving God. I do worship enough with other music and have panic attacks and such, so I need something more calming and peaceful...

The Oh Hellos are a brother sister duo who are Christian and make good music. It's not praise music but it has Christian threads throughout the lyrics like:

"We were born in the valley of the dead and the wicked
That our father's father found
And where we laid him down
We were born in the shadow of the crimes of our fathers
Blood was our inheritance
No, we did not ask for this

Will you lead me?

We were young when we heard you call our names in the silence
Like a fire in the dark
Like a sword upon our hearts

...will you lead me is in reference to Jesus.

Another lyric I like: "And heaven knows I'm prone to leave the only God I should have loved,
And yet You're far too beautiful to leave me." (The "you're" I take to mean that He will newer leave us even if we stray like we all do).

I like that they acknowledge the human condition and doubt and failure and things that I can relate to.

I saw them in concert.  They are super fun and energetic bunch (it's brother sister and a bunch of other band members). They ended with an instrumental "come thy fount of every blessing."

The lyrics to this one are:

I like the loss and redemption theme and alluding to baptism (real or spiritual water). This song seems to be about the prodigal son archetype (the singer talking to his brother and father) that we all experience in our own ways.

Edit: I don't know if this music will help or hinder your panic attacks. I have panic and anxiety attacks as well but we are all unique. I find the "realness" of their lyrics comforting.

Their two newest albums are "the valley" and "dear wormwood." The valley begins with the first song I quoted and ends with this song:

Still you lead me, never leave me
Never leave me"

Which is a "reprise" of the first song, and short but so uplifting, Jesus never leaving and always leading. :)

Sometimes I find actual praise music uplifting but honestly my musical tastes are mostly secular folk music with Christian undertones.
