So i was looking for uplifting religious videos on youtube and for some reason the channel "fleetwd1 "Living Water 2 U"" pops up in my feed that's titled "Laura Robinson - Hell is for Christians? Eternal Judgment as a Unique Emphasis in Matthew's Gospel". So i start watching it and it is a Universalist bashing video that links to www.rethinkinghell.com so now I'm sitting here questioning my beliefs again and in a very depressed mood.

I did a forum search here to see if any of this has been talked about here in hopes to calm my nerves but nothing came up.  :sigh:

  Hi Idontknow ,

If is is any consolation   to you .
You may find some  of us    went though the very thing you are going though  right now .
I sure did
So desiring to be faithful to the Word of God   and believe right   and in the TRUTH .

And looked and searched and prayed and asked the Lord   can this really be true JESUS  ?

I think now.  even the scriptures  , testify    we are His sheep

John 10  8"All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.

9"I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

10"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

I came that they may have life,

and have it abundantly....

I believe it is so very much  more personal and intimate   now and the Lord Jesus working in you particularly
That does and will and keep making all the difference
Just trust in Him  and you will  find your" rest  'in  the Hope   alive ..
there is no other peace   I have known than in the   Lord Jesus Christ / Word of God , by His  Spirit of truth  teaching us all   , Just who He is and what he desires

Wait on the Lord    to settle things   within and know He is very patient    with you as well .

When  you feel His Loving presence than you know you have arrived  :HeartThrob:
He will not leave you or forsake you    , by putting all your trust in Him and none in mankind or yourself  "give that up " surrender  it all  , you will have something  of substance   to build   upon .

I agree. Beautifully put.

I believe it is all an individual process for each and every one of us as well. He is working within and there are moments of darkness/trials...I believe much of "hell" are these moments where we feel "My God why have you forsaken me?" But He hasn't and it is part of the process of being saved through fire. It is an ongoing learning and unlearning in my opinion.

I have had those moments and continue to have them. Each time when I come out on the other side I think "silly me, He always saves me from myself. He did again. Why didn't I trust in Him more?"

I don't believe trials are to test our faith in the way we test school children to see if they know the answer. God knows what we know. Tests are for US to teach us and to show US something about ourselves or about God or how the universe works. Some lessons need to be learned over and over before they sink in. He is patient and steadfast and merciful. And LOVE.

The more I read the Bible, since U.R. has been confirmed to me, the more I see Universal Reconciiation in His Word (His word, His promise)

This is a great tentmaker forum list of many of the very obvious verses - 77 verses ( I believe the Bible is also chock full of less than "obvious" ones! :gsmile: ) - http://tentmaker.org/forum/rules-and-faq/77-ultimate-reconciliation-and-renewal-scriptures/msg118063/#msg118063

Amen !   both of you ...  :HeartThrob:

to God be the glory  , the honor   and praise  for all He has done is doing and will continue , to  complete  His plan of salvation on all   .

:dsunny:   Hebrews  8    All will know him from  the least to the greatest   by HIS  New Covenant

...10"FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD

: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

11"AND THEY SHALL NOT TEACH EVERYONE HIS FELLOW CITIZEN, AND EVERYONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING,

'KNOW THE LORD,' FOR ALL WILL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST TO THE GREATEST OF THEM.

12"FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR INIQUITIES, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SINS NO MORE."...

Israel is His first born    in the world , JESUS CHRIST is   His  only begotten from heaven that will     reconcile all things unto Himself

as we struggle to understand what Gods Word is saying and whom we are in CHRIST    ,  Gods anointing   by the HOLY SPIRIT   heavenly witness ...

Some things are hard  just accept    , but with the Holy Spirit   poured out on all    flesh teaching us     the way  to His truth and Life   ,
My sis helped me  to see that    flesh and blood does not inherit the  kingdom of God ,  but the flesh is what  carries out , what spirit is in operation in our hearts , we cannot see the end result  now , but will all know    in the DAY    the Lord openly declares it .

Flesh and blood is not evil of itself ,  but the carnal mind[being death  minded ]  is the enemy against the Spirit of Life       and the SPIRIT OF LIFE IS VICTORIOUS    in what it sets out to do   in all of us ..

The hard part is understanding  where we are  at   in the warring between the  two natures   ,   the divine [Holy ]  nature shall rule over the carnal [beastly ]    in every way  , this we  can    put all our  stock in  and faith believing  GOD IS TRUE  TO HIS WORD BY HIS OWN HOLY SPIRIT  !!
Than can we say , '' truly''   the last enemy is death   to overcome  ,  and is to   overcome the world !  ...
Jesus is the reward  !!

The enemy will try to shake your faith by many means, but in the end, no matter what one believes they will have adversaries. There is no need to fear. Jesus loves you and died for you. No one can take you out of His hand. Many threaten others with judgment if they dont believe the "correct" thing. We do not do that here.... and that should be some weight in the balance :o)

I have been ministering to people in religious bondage for many years. The devil misquotes the Bible- even did so with our Lord on the mount of temptation.

In the end, only the scriptures and our faith in His unfailing love will give us assurance.

In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him 11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

I guess it would seem to be a contradiction.....seek truth, but be careful who you pay attention to.

Seeking truth appears to be a hard task, I think. So very many different opinions, viewpoints, theologies, and so forth, out there.

But, I believe, our only source of truth is really God, as He is the only one who originates truth and who is not corrupted by the skewed view of this fallen world.

So, the closer we walk with the Lord, the nearer we are to the truth. We know what we need to do to accomplish that....read and study scripture; Love God and our neighbor; pray sincerely; seek His face in all our encounters; empty ourselves so that we can be filled by Him; listen for the voice of the Spirit. I think I covered the basics.

And, as we walk and listen and pray and read and LOVE......the truth will manifest itself clearer and clearer.

I don't believe we can ever see perfectly clear in this world.....but I do believe that the 'formula' above is the best road to getting as close as we can.

Matthew 7:7 - 8

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

John 16:13

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

And, then, as for what the world says,....I do believe it is good to seek wise counsel,at times, but do not trust man, only God.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

D.      :Gclap:
7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

Matthew 7:7 -8

Hello Idontknow,
I know it's been a while since you posted this, but please allow me a belated reply.

First of all, it's easy to see why you were depressed and discouraged after watching that evil video.  I would have been too.  The concept of hell is so evil, anyone should be strongly effected by the darkness and horrors thereof.  But, not to worry!  HELL IS A LIE!  HELL IS A MYTH!  HELL IS A PAGAN CONCEPT!  HELL IS NOT SCRIPTURAL.

Second, allow me to be blunt: THERE IS NO HELL!!!  That can easily be supported by the fact that the best scripture manuscripts we have DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING CALLED "HELL" from start to finish.  That's a pretty good indication there is was never in the originals.  Why believe in anything that was not in the scriptures as originally penned?  You may as well believe in Santa and the Easter bunny, as to believe in hell.  It simply was not in the scriptures as originally penned.  The only thing that even came close is the "lake of fire," mentioned only in the Revelation(the most figurative book in the scriptures), and is a FIGURATIVE term (not literally a lake of fire, but rather, a place of the Spirit's teaching of righteousness and purification, which will ultimately lead to salvation).

Third, if you once believed there was no hell, why go back to that darkness, once you've seen the truth. TRUST WHAT YOU KNOW IS TRUTH, TRUST WHOM YOU KNOW IS TRUTH.  THERE IS NO HELL!  IT DOES NOT EXIST, NEVER DID, NEVER WILL, AND NO ONE IS EVER GOING TO GO THERE BECAUSE IT IS A MYTH BORROWED FROM PAGANS!  The doctrine of hell and eternal punishment is a very evil doctrine designed by Satan to dump a heavy burden on you, and as you and I both know, it works very well to fulfill it's purpose if you let it.  So don't let Satan fool you.  He's a liar!

Fourth, even the apostle Paul never mentioned hell in any of his writings.  If hell existed, then why didn't the greatest evangelist who ever lived ever mention it?  Would that not be a rather large oversight?  He never mentioned hell because he had never conceived of such an evil notion.  Hell entered Christian teaching AFTER Paul's time, even though Paul tried his best to keep his churches from adding pagan beliefs (lies) to his teachings of truth.  I believe that mixture of truth and lies is referred to in the Old Testament as "food mixed with dung."  If you eat food, do you want it to be mixed with manure?  No thank you.  I like my food like I like my truth - PURE.

Fifth, Jesus never mentioned hell to anyone in any of the scriptures.  Now if Jesus didn't mention hell, then who would?  This fact alone should be enough to put down the lies of hell doctrine.  The only thing that even comes close is His mention in Matthew about certain people being in danger of the "Gehenna of fire," which is obviously a figurative term (not literal), since Gehenna is a geographic location you can visit today, just outside the historic, old Jerusalem.  It's a long story I won't go into at this time, but Gehenna definitely IS NOT hell.  So how did humans come to believe Gehenna is hell?  Not by reading properly translated scripture, that's for sure!

Leave that evil doctrine alone, and don't go there again - ever.  It's just too dangerous to trifle with.  Hell may not be real, but because of the horror of such a doctrine, it sure can get to you!  Eat only of the pure scriptural food of TRUTH, and flush the dung of hell doctrine - ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Amen JBerton and Dandelion! And all.. love these replies!

I too become more and more convinced, and can see Christian Universalism / the reconciliation of all in more and more of God's word..

The outer darkness, etc, is the potential.. if God were not all powerful and perfect, that is.
1 Tim 4:10; Psalm 22:27,29 & &... But two heathen, I believe beliefs held strongly in large part through peer pressure as surely none of us want to believe such an awful thing.. even annihilation/perishing would be better. "The result of sin ("missing the mark") is death".. but God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son.. that whosoever believes will not perish" "every knee shall bow, every tongue confess Him" written 3 times in His Word. [3 measures of meal - 1 Cor 15:22-28.]

Why the second resurrection? Surely perfection makes no error(s) and can lose nothing. If His first advent fulfilled the ancient Spring Holy Days, then surely His Long 2nd Advent will fulfill the Autumn ones.. We've come to think of the fall as something not directly ordained by Him, but how can this be? Therefor, He, subjected everything to imperfection.. even tho all suffer and death/non-life came upon all. But as He surely is life (and Perfection) He suffers, experiences and lives through all sufferings which ever occur! Why would He put Himself through all that? Perhaps because He's not making an ant farm or robots, or worse, but His own family/children, and an un-breakable paradise/perfection.. What is said to be the best teacher? Surely, He has done all things just as He has in order to bring about the very best of all possibilities.. Can Perfection do anything less? Can a human being perceive of a better 'end' result than He??

I'm off to watch the horror video now...

Um, actually.. nope.. can't do it.. Now I remember why I like to stick with my bible only.. :laughing7: sorry, but good grief! A lot of words but saying pretty much nothing.. I am going to check out a little closer the rethinking hell site.. my first impression? they sure seem happy about the whole concept.. or maybe that's just my bias? or a really bad first impression..

I've been thinking about this issue a lot lately, and am getting less permissive about it.. what I mean is, it seems to me unacceptable to even entertain the idea of never ending torment, let alone teach it and teach it and teach it.. Am I getting intolerant? Is it that hard to realize what sheol always was, before it was translated 'hell'? Or to realize Jesus would not have spoken in Greek. So never would have used the word hades, but would have used the word sheol. And gehenna, well we know that was the city dump where the fires were kept burning because even the bodies of criminals were burned there.. and - i read recently, if a body got held up on a ledge, the worms would consume it until gone.. (So better to cast your eye there than let it lead one to evil and their whole body would be thrown there.. Anyway, any punishment from God, surely would be corrective and not never ending revenge (and hatred?)

I mean, seriously, when we really think about it.. how could we ever believe such a thing.. for it says one of two things, neither of which can be true. God is not all powerful, or, God is not all Good. Doesn't His Word say "with God aLL things are possible"..? We SO underestimate Him!! And His Great Plan of Salvation. Imagine! defending hell..

Does Father tell us to forgive and love our enemies, while He tortures his enemies forever with unimaginable horror?  Such a notion is utterly inane!
Your are braver than I, as I would be afraid to even look upon such an evil website. :faint:

I know!! right?! I have seen folks in forums, with their user photo be of someone in fire, flesh melting.. I suppose they are well intentioned, trying to shock people into believing.. but.. oh my.. I sure do cringe when I see them.. I think a good name/handle to use in discussion would be "berean_heretic" - yep, I think I have to sign up somewhere using that handle.. Even if I should have to be "berean_heretic1234" or something.. (Maybe there's many of us Berean heretics!) And anybody who sees this, feel free to use it, the more the better?

On faith vs atheism forums, the atheists always bring up 'hell'. and the believers are like :talkangry: and I'm like :crywipe:

I think the line in the Bible for me, that is most convincing is the part in 1 Corinthians 13 that says,

Love Never Fails.

Those 3 words say that God's Love never fails. Ours might, but He cannot fail. And if He cannot fail, His love is everlasting. After all, God is Love.  And, if His love is everlasting, He will never give up, to bring us home.

And, if He will never give up.....then we will all make it.

And, that, Idon'tknow.....always comforts me.           :HeartThrob:

I hope it does for you, as well.

D.

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....
