The legend of Pandora's box

I knew the box held the woes of mankind. I like to use the phrase Pandora's box. But I didn't realize according to the myth she (Pandora) was the first woman!

It's funny how all lands have a handed down creation account and handed down flood legends. [Sometimes it is claimed Moses plagiarized from the Babylonian myth by - shoot! his name flew right out of my head! But two people's accounts/memories, well it doesn't mean the second witness plagiarized from the first! The other flood legends, like the Babylonian, include such wild accounts as a cyclops.. It simply goes to prove that memories or accounts handed down through human hands, change over time. Unlike Moses' account "inspired by God".

~ Just like the gospel/good news. I don't think it's all that surprising that after 2000 years of Christianity being made up of humans, and of the good news being handed down through human hands, that it would lose some of the GLORY of its message.. and pick up some baggage along the way.

It's interesting too, thinking about "the first woman" that the earliest artifacts found by archeologists are little figures of a 'mother goddess'. The very earliest (in age) is of a torso of a rather heavy lady, much like what an infant would see if held under the clothing at the hip or whatnot.

Such 'goddess' figures have been found all over.. Makes me wonder if that first man made deity wasn't handed down 'memories of Eve', "the mother of us all" as Adam called her.. (Perhaps over her 1000 years or so of life, she became a somewhat heavy lady? (Fanciful, I know, but to me makes sense these legends handed down of a mother of all/'goddess' and of a world or huge flood.. in the different languages after mankind were separated at Banel Tower (lest "all things be possible unto them" all working together - making an end to things much too soon).

'Pandora's box' to use the phrase, to me would be God's creating rational creatures, for with thinking ability (surely?) sooner or later comes the ability to make choices, though thankfully very limited! And with choice comes a bottomless pit of potential darkness/evil.. Yep there's no limit to how far 'down' one can go! If/when not in oneness with Him.

And, since God Himself opened that Pandora's box, are we to assume He would let aNyone perish (or worse! :faint: ) because of it?!

I think not.
