I brought this comment over from another discussion so I wouldn't change the topic
and it's not really book of Revelation but bible prophecy.. (for any interested) - which if not directly UR related, it is still Bible related, and the Bible is UR.

Israel was a fig tree that did not bear fruit[it was not the season for figs] thus something out of time/or season for their age...

Oh! Now I get that! "why did He curse the fig tree for having no fruit when it was not the season for its fruit?" I've always thought for an example of faith and prayer, etc.. "If you believe.. you will have whatsoever you ask for.."

but still had the question, why curse it for not having fruit when it's not the time for its fruit...  as an example of the fig tree/Israel/Old Covenant/tutor until Jesus, that did not bear fruit!
:Chinscratch:  "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near."

cross-references -

Matthew 23:37-39 -
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"

Romans 11:15 - "For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?" (i.e. resurrection)
"I will draw ALL to Me." [Jesus, Jn.12:32] Written in the pattern of the Holy Days? an image - https://inner-monastery.blogspot.com

 Marie...and...that He would give it unto a nation[that is not a nation/but men taken out of all nations] that would bear

fruit!!! Can we bear the fruit of Jesus..even mercy/forgiveness/faith in His son.    God said 'I will make you jealous by a nation that is not a

nation!"   Jesus exclaimed and commended the faith of the gentiles in Him..saying 'never have I seen such faith in Israel"!

For the Lord will come suddenly unto His temple...Malachi 3;1   But who may abide the day of His coming?

v9  ye are cursed with a curse..for ye have robbed me,even this whole nation.

...to turn the hearts of the children unto the father's..and the hearts of the father's unto the children, lest I strike it with a curse.

God sent His son..even after they had killed all the prophets He had sent her...surely they will receive My Son..

:iagree: That's why the repeat after me conversions don't seem to create much real change except to add church members and keep them frustrated  :dontknow: trying to live the life while still walking as a dead man. My opinion! It's a great disservice to those folks.  :sigh:

sheila

especially if they are [churches] teaching doctrines of men. But,it is by faith we are following after Him..reckoning our own bodies good as

dead[like Abraham] because of sin...but believing the Lord that He shall appear to us again seperate from sin..and we shall be just like Him!

a son/daughter of God bearing the appearance of sin on our cross..but justified and redeemed of God through Christ.

If you take all those 1000's of conversions each week in the religious church system if they were really breathed upon and received a new life can you imagine the impact that would make? We live not too far from a church that claims to win thousands every year and even busing folks in on Sundays they can't keep the place full with more than a few hundred people. Their turnover is amazing. Many of their conversions I believe are by "The Will of Man" instead of a draw of the spirit (not all but most)I believe.

Ross

" That's why the repeat after me conversions don't seem to create much real change except to add church members and keep them frustrated  :dontknow: trying to live the life while still walking as a dead man. "

Personal effort versus grace.

Paul talks about this difference.
For example;
1 Tim 1;13,14 " Even though I was formerly a blasphemer, persecutor, and an insolent person. But I was shown mercy, since being ignorant, I acted in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord COMPLETELY OVERFLOWED for me, with faith and love that ARE IN CHRIST JESUS."
vs 16 " But the reason for this, so that as foremost Christ Jesus might display in me His complete patience as an illustration for those who were to believe in Him for aion of life."

Explains the grace.
1 Tim 2;6 explains the timing. " Who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness at the proper time."

The fig tree, I.M.O is an illustration of those who are not yet in that due/proper time; ergo the tree is barren.
When the tree is cut back, watered, and re-established, then the tree will bear much fruit.
John 15 about the vine gives that very picture.
Fellow brother in Christ

sheila

    Be a keeper of a fig tree..that ye may partake of it's fruit...am I my brother's keeper?

But  for me the fig leave    is only a covering     for their own nakedness  /sin
and used the law   to condemn others with  [scribes Pharisees   , hypocrites]  and considered themselves covered , because they Had the Word of God
but NOT HIS SPIRIT   They had their own spirit   and joined with others spirits     making     Babylon  confusion  by mixing ,,,,
Only the Holy SPIRIT OF GOD is the one and only pure One
fig leaves covered themselves   Gen 3 ;17

6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

that tree of knowledge of good and evil   could never bear fruit of themselves   just   death ..
It takes the Holy Spirit to conceive   &  pure    Word /seed    of Christ to    bear fruit  to God ,     that worship in the Spirit & truth

Luke 1 ...34 Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?"

35The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy one  shall be called the Son of God.

Jesus Christ being the Word of God made flesh    GAVE  the HOLY SPIRIT John 7:39
By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified

John 22...21So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." 22And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

23"If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."

I was thinking along the same lines today, in a more secular, historical way.  Think of how many times Israel has been uprooted, transplanted, dunged, grown, and still found wanting.

1.  Jacob goes with his family to Egypt, on the offer of Joseph.  Many die there.
2.  God leads them out of Egypt, but they prove unworthy.  A whole generation dies in the wilderness, and the next generation enters the Land of Promise.
3.  The House of Israel proves unworthy, and the House of Judah proves worse.  God divorces them and sends them packing into exile.
4.  Israel escapes Assyrian captivity via the Caucasus and become the core population of the Parthian Empire, ruled by members of the House of David.  I think the Wise Men came from there.
5.  Judah remains in Persia = only a small fraction return with Ezra & Nehemiah to Palestine.  They become a great nation.
6.  Parthia is broken up by the Persians, after much conflict with Rome.  Israelite refugees move north and west, becoming the "barbarian" tribes coming into the only civilized nation left that will have them - Rome.  They found the modern nations of Europe.
7.  Judah is defeated by Rome, and dispersed.
8.  Political/Economic/Religious refugees leave Europe for the Americas, South Africa, and elsewhere.  Israel and Judah are again one stick in God's hand, yet they still fall short.
9.  ???
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Be an angel of intercession...dig around it's roots..loosen the compacted/trampled soil...add /dung.........perhaps it may bear fruit

next year?

the fig tree is an excellant analogy of Israel and the law covenant..Adam and Eve covered their nakedness with the leaves.......

the shadow of law and sacrifice of Lambs/goats  to atone/cover the shame of sin/nakedness.. and God

clothed them in coats of skins.[the Lamb that was slain before the founding of the world?/went about in goatskins/sheepskins]

skin for skin,Job 2;4 yeah, all that a man hath will he give for his life![he who loses his life for the sake of the kingdom shall find it]

and when we see Him face to face..we shall be just like Him..will our hair be white like wool?

the little goat shepherdess..dark as the tents of Kedar[weaved of black goat hair]....instructed to shepherd her goats along

the tents of his friends...to follow the path of the sheep...rest at highest light......

...and He shall seperate the people one from another..as a shepherd seperates the sheep from the goats.........from now on call no

man unclean[goats are clean animals] but you men are sheep....would you be a shepherdess of goats? Most beautiful of women?

I love the  comparison   , Makes the scriptures so  true  ..many parables are fulfilled ,  the vineyard ,  the fig tree , the penny [same wage] the  Shepherd and the sheep  calling and separating the sheep from the goats   , the  goats sent to the wilderness [  the dry place ]  no water  of the washing of the Word  , Jesus being that Word/ water   and shade   covering by grace from the heat / judgments  of setting the world on fire   as Sodom and Gomorrah  [ the seed /Word is Christ]    they would come in last   call    , every knee   bow , whom were chosen first  ..  they reject  so the scriptures are  fulfilled  /TRUTH   to allow  all   saved ...

Israel    was called out of   Egypt [ a type and shadow  of being called out of the world    ]    , that being the called  out ones  , just as '' in Christ'' we are called out of the world  and set apart    , greater is He in you  than in the world ..  etc

God went before them  always   as a pillar  in the Cloud by day   or fire by night [light], in Christ  the Promise of God being  indwelling with us   not against us [ Christ is that  HEAT OF THE DAY AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD ] , or before us ..Neither the pillar of cloud / witness by day nor the pillar of fire/light  by night left its place in front of the people

Israel     bore the heat  of the Day, many generations   many many trials  ,   for the same penny/ price ,  that the gentiles[all other nations ]  would only have   to  bear the last hour     ..Keep you from the hour of trial that shall come upon the whole world   that HEAT   by  grace you are saved it is the gift of God ......

When Jesus    called the lost sheep of Israel opened heaven     He let the  harlots and tax collectors come in [  no God , no gods they were gods to themselves ] !

the last  shall be  first and the first   shall be last ........    so many called out of the world / world of death   to LIFE IN CHRIST.

matt  2011 And when they received it, they grumbled against the landowner,

12 saying, 'These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.

' 13 But he replied to one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me[covenant ] for the usual daily wage?

14 Take what belongs to you and go; I choose to give to this last the same as I give to you.[ THE PROMISE OF  AN endless LIFE by faith  ]  [elder sons to the prodigal  sons  ]  the two sons and two covenants , one agreed and did not do so and  other said , no and did  as asked  anyways ... :Chinscratch:

15 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?

' 16 So the last will be first, and the first will be last."[ all things are His    always  was and is and will be ]    :HeartThrob:

I really love this and find people can look at this a few ways some see it as the Jews were to be first but by rejecting Christ the Gentiles come in first and the Jews lastly.

My self I see it as if you start at the top to draw a circle when your pen FIRST touches the paper that's I AM and as you finish the circle your pen must touch the place you started to make the circle complete that's the LAST...Both the FIRST and LAST points of the circle are in the same place I AM. (it makes a good illustration on paper)

That is what I believe the Lord has shown me another way of seeing all equal and all one IN HIM. :dsunny:
I AM

...very good analogy!

Galatians 5:22‑23 says, "The fruit of the Spirit is

love,

joy,

peace,

patience,

kindness

goodness

, faithfulness,

gentleness

and self‑control

  :HeartThrob:

The Works of the Flesh
16 Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.

17 For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh;

for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness,

20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions,

21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these.

I am warning you, as I warned you before:

those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Fruit of the Spirit

22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.

There is no law against such things.

24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.

26 Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another.
