Hi everyone.
My name is Buzz.
I have been a Christian for many years, I am 60 yrs old, but I never seemed to fit into the traditional doctines.  I am very interested in the teachings of the tentmaker church.
I have a number of questions, but what I have heard so far is very consistant with what God has shown me over the years.  I am very frustrated with the lack of biblical understanding I experience in the churches I have attended.  They dont seem to be interested in biblical teaching as much as their established doctrines.

I moved away from eternal torment some time ago and was in the annihilation camp.  Now I am seriously considering UR.
What do I do with scriptures like Matt 10:28 that refer to "destroy both soul and body in Gehenna" destroy in the greek is appolomy; to annihilate?

I'm not sure what you mean by "what do I do with.." My explanation of the verse is that God is able to destroy, or kill, souls. Souls can die, that it why I also do not believe in eternal torment. I also do not believe totally in UR, although I believe that God wants all men to be saved. My belief on UR is that if all men were going to be saved, there would be no need for the lake of fire, other than for Satan. The bible plainly says that some humans will be thrown in however. This may be the wrong place to post this. I'm awaiting SeekerSa now. :grin:

Compare the Greek for "destroy" in Mat 10²⁸ with other occurences of the same word.  It's used repeatedly in the 3 parables about things lost, perished, destroyed, anihilated -- pick one; it's the same word! -- in Luke 15.  This was what the one sheep was called (anihilated?) that the Shepherd reasoned with us that we would also track down to save in Luke 15^4,6.   I like the example, between that of the Shepherd (Jesus) saving the 99+1=100 (%) sheep and the Father with the prodigal son, of the woman (Spirit) whose drachma was "annihilated" in Luke 15^8-9!  It is out of love for what they see value in that they desire for the destroyed to be saved.

Hi Buzz.  Welcome Brother!  I relate to what you've said.  I was raised in a backwoods, independent hell-fire and plenty of damnation Pentecostal environment.  Moved into Baptist for past 25+ years...never seemed to fit either place.  God's been showing me UR for the past year, and now I certainly don't fit, so I've just left the denomination.  Take it easy, keep your eyes on Father, He'll lead you...He's led you so far, and I believe He's led you here...for a purpose.  I've toyed with the idea of annihilation, especially as a more believable option for my loving Father as opposed to the eternal torment idea...However, I really lean more toward ultimate reconciliation, because when rightly divided from the earlier manuscripts, it makes a whole lot of sense that God will "fix it all"...."and when all things shall be subdued unto Him , then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him that put all things under Him, that God may be ALL IN ALL" (I Cor. 15:23-28)....please spend some time on the main page of tentmaker and read some of the things Gary's posted regarding UR...makes a lot of sense, especially as you say, when you look at "where's the truth" in mainstream...you read my mind regarding their tendency to follow denominational traditions of men, and by doing so put God in their own little boxes.  Anyway, God's blessing, hang out with us.  James.

I used to think that "it is not good for man to be alone" applied to me.  Actually it applies to the first adam.  My body is still of it, but I've been transferred into the New man.  Here, instead of recognition from others (still a phantom need in my lower outer aspect) I am now fulfilled by the imparted knowledge of My Heavenly Father, His awareness of who I am being made known to me by intimacy with the Holy Spirit.  The rest of the world will have to fit in with us.
