Young's Literal Translation

I was looking at 1 Corinthians 12 this morning, and wanted to see how a particular verse read in different versions.

So, I use the Blue Letter Bible program for reading, because, as an old guy, I can navigate it easily.

Well, you know how Young's translation is literal enough that it sometimes puts words in an order that reads funny.

I said to myself: "Self, this sounds like Yoda from Star Wars."

Now when I see YLT on the list of bible translations available, I laugh to myself about "Yoda's Literal Translation"

try the Modern Young's Literal.  More readable, but maybe not quite so much fun.

I actually have been applying "yoda talk" to a bunch of scriptures. I dont want to get impaled but I must say - I think you might be on to something there Laz :o)

Youngs, Rotherham, Literal all have interesting sentence structure. Punctuation can change a whole context.

Change a whole context, punctuation, could.
Could punctuation, a whole; change context.
Rearranging words can also change that meaning thing.
Meaning thing, rearrange the words, change the can.
Rearranging thing, can change the meaning also.

Bit of comedy really. Highlights the need for one teacher to overcome these anomalies.
