Hi, I have to confess that this is not my first post, but I noticed the "FIRST POST HERE" thread only now, so please forgive me.
Anyway, I don't have a lot to say about me, I'm Italian, I'm 17, I study Greek, Latin and Hebrew/Aramaic at school and I love God and Jesus.  Unfortunately, I'm quite a boring person - at least it seems to me - so I believe that's all I have to say.
Who are you? Whence do you come from? Where do you live?

Great that someone so young is on the path seeking Jesus and His truth. I am sure that you are not boring at all, just rest in Him no need to compare ourselves with anyone else hey? Studying all those languages, are you going to translate Scripture or what?

Hi I'm so happy that y'all welcomed me so warmly! Anyway I did already translate the Gospel of Matthew, both an adapted and a literal version.
I am so glad I've found such a wonderful community!

Lorenzo, my real name is Dennis, I live in Independence, Missouri, and am retired (65).  I was raised a Baptist, was part of the "Jesus Movement," was a Seventh-Day Adventist for a few years (they like the Waldensians), and here I am today, hardly attending church.  I'm writing a book, exploring the KJV Bible to see if Hell really exists.  I'm currently in Ezekiel, and no proof yet.  You can see a version, somewhat old, on the thread Heaven, Yes - Hell, No in the Hellbusters Hallow subforum.  My manuscript is now at 54 pages, growing almost every day.

The Jesus Movement was a phenomenon of the late 1960's to sometime in the 1970's or early 1980's, when it seemed to fizzle out.  Think of hippies with Jesus instead of drugs.  It tried to get back to Christianity as in the book of Acts, was anti-establishment, and not doctrinally rigid.

I used to have a vhs tape (I taped off the tv) of what seemed to be a Jesus Movement reunion of sorts.. I never watched it! Now I don't know where it is..

Maybe I'll do some googling see if I can find a replacement. I came of age in the 70's and embraced the whole hippy thing pretty much - peace, love and all that.. Then much later (20 years+) I heard - which I don't think is actually true - the roots of the hippy movement had been a Jesus movement which I thought was pretty cool; even if it turned out to be just a branch off the hippy movement. (I had come to the Lord in 1979.) Of course much of the hippy movement lost its way what with the drug culture, and free love which has done quite a number on society/family..

The whole thing affected me a lot however, with the freedom and the questioning of authority figures, which I carried over into my christian life.. I questioned the whole e.t. thing almost from the get go.. (It pretty much defies logic.) I did wonder about e.a. (annihilation) for a while, considering the parable of the wheat and tares but that doesn't stand up to logic either, but leads more to hitler, than Yahweh.. So that idea didn't hold water for long.. (Can tell a doctrine/ idea by its fruit..)

I did google... One of the links [ http://www.christianexaminer.com/article/the.jesus.movement.wants.to.keep.the.music.playing/43591.htm ] had this quote about the Jesus movement among musicians - "We had a national crisis.. Universities were on fire. There was a lot of bad coming down. ... God sovereignly answered the prayers of our parents and grandparents. ... Music was the bridge." It's an interesting read.

...yah, universities is where the false prophet (teaching) first got a firm hold and changed our society.. :doh: nother topic..
