Hi! shalom from Nebraska! I'm on a Messianic Universalist path right now and I am newly joining this website / forum because the gospel is the basis of our faith and I love fellowship :D. I've learned so much here already also! Thanks for all of your input on posts..especially the ones about eternal salvation and eternal 'torment'..Lots to look through  :Chinscratch: If there are any other Messianic UR out there, let me know :) I love all of you brothers & sisters anyways no matter where you're at in your walk.  :friendstu:  I'm here to learn and also post anywhere that I am led to post.  "In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit..." Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

@Laz....Thanks! Around the Southeastern part of NE. so, we are not so far apart if you are referring to KC, Kansas  :laughing7: How goes the 'fellowship' over there? I've been looking for UR fellowship! The best place so far has been online.

Hello I noticed the names you are using and would like your insight (opinion) on the sacred name restoration of Yahweh Adonai Elohim Yashua. I am not looking for conflict just opinions since I really don't know.

The name of God is formulated in many ways through out the scriptures by apostles and prophets. It has been translated into many languages. "In my name" means, above all else- "In me", or, "As my representative" or, "As my ambassador". Faith in the Name is important, but it is the connection to the One named from which the power derives, and as Paul wrote to Timothy,

"The Lord know those who are His and let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity"

The Lord know those who are His not by the language in which they speak His name(English, Spanish, Hebrew, etc) but by their heart connection to Him in faith and love, so....


If I say, "the Lord Jesus Christ" as opposed to Adonai Yashua Meschiach it makes no difference to YHWH, who doesnt mind being called God, either.

Most people who are in the "sacred name restoration movement" are trying, in addition to that, to institute Torah and bring people under the Law.

Apart from that tho, the study of the names of God and His Messiah in Hebrew is a wonderful study and full of secrets revealed and wondrous aspects of the identity of the I AM made manifest.

I agree totally, word studies of names in the Hebrew will revile attributes of that name. For instance the 7 names of praise and worship that was very popular in the 80's as a blue print for worship breathed new life or should I say new revelations into worship. Then you have Chuck Missler's word study of the names in Geneses that reveals God's plan for redemption.

The Name is indeed a key factor.
  One of the aspects of being "In the name" is that that individual has the full authority of the One who sent the him. 
The Jews saw this  claim of Christ to be the Son of God as blasphemy because Christ calling God Father was stating that
He was equal in authority to God.
Christ also says many will come in His name and call Him Lord, Yet He never knew them.

SO the name is important and significant. Probably why we are not to take the name in vain.

The name Elohim has trouble being correctly translated into English.
Greek verbs have that same trouble when changed to nouns, or simplified into a static statement instead of being kept as a living, 0n-going process.
Some expressions in one language can mean the opposite in another.
Probably why we are to study to have these things pointed out to us by  our Father as He nurtures us through the glorious truth.

Here's a few verses:
"He says: "I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing Your praises in the congregation." Hebrews 2:12
"I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; I will praise You in the congregation." Psalm 22:22
"I will bow down toward Your holy temple And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name." Psalm 138:2

So far my understanding has been that His name is important as revealed thru the voice of the Holy Spirit. I encourage just asking Him what He wants you to call him. Who knows? He might have a preference. Just like I am OK when some close friends call me my nickname versus formal name. Of course at first proclaiming "Jesus please save me!" will work just as fine as "Yeshua please save me!" because the person calling out doesn't have a relationship with Him yet and he is known by many pronunciations in many languages. This is a matter of opinion though, so pray about it  :Pray:  Anyways apart from that, the Hebrew word for name is "shem" and it also means "honor, authority, character, reputation, fame, glory". So knowing Him for His characteristics is certainly important as well! I don't use the name Yeshua to bring people "under the law". I'm so used to using it by now, I like it because it means "salvation" in Hebrew.  And I like to use YHWH which is the Hebrew letters of His name"yod, hey, waw/vav, hey". Studying Hebrew word bases from blueletterbible.org and reading different translations has helped me learn also. Hopefully that helps!   :reachout:
