"UR" kinda funny

I already know that many in my life don't really appreciate it when I go to entertaining myself with things that make me laugh, but don't make anyone else laugh. But indulge me. If you don't feel like it, skip this post.

I found this site doing a search on a subject that landed me right in the middle of a deep discussion. These letters kept coming up "UR", "ET" etc. I honestly could only guess at what they stood for.

Well, I pretty well knew who "ET" was, because I saw the movie years ago.

So my only real hurtle left was "UR". In recent years I had most often seen it to mean "You Are".
So it hit me. Some Jews will not say the name of G-d because it is too holy to speak or spell out. So they use a circumlocution like "The Name": "Ha Shem".
So if one of Gods names is "I Am", you found a beautiful circumlocution that is also a worshipful statement. Yes lord, UR!  You really Are!

Well actually, as cool as it was, I thought it unlikely because of context of usage.

So I searched UR. One rich meaning was evidently the government has used it to mean: Underground Railroad. And I thought "Hey now, that has awesome implications for a group of people seeking to set others free from oppressive belief systems.
How cool is that: rescuing ET on the UR!!!!

And actually, even now when I want to type "UR" and I can't think of the right letters, I think of Underground Railroad.

And this is partly because I can never think of the second word in the acronym. And this is partly because that second word seems to change depending on who is actually spelling out the two words.
I am still unclear as to which one it officially is. But I am thinking it is probably the "Uber Reincarnation".

Let me know if there is a single official translation or if there is a spirit of freedom leaving it up to reader discretion.   

I might make a suggestion in case search engines bring seekers into the middle of conversations: maybe at least once in each discussion, spell out the two words in mind when using UR.

Thank you for a really wonderful website. I can't say I am with you all the way yet. But I can say there are places in my thinking I can never go back to with any integrity.

 :cloud9: UR = Universal Reconciliation. ET = Eternal Torment. Keeping up with the acronyms on some of the other sites, is exhausting, I know.  :winkgrin:

One time on one of them, someone accused me of being an SDA. I had NO IDEA what that meant, but I gathered by the tone it was meant as an insult. When I found out, I cracked up.   

On another one, they asked me if I was a Catholic Cardinal. I don't know which was the funniest, or the most off target.  :laughing7:
