So, my first post.

To start, I found this site when trying to do some research and admittedly to find someone who shared my same opinion on Luke 16 and the parable. What I found was more than I bargained for but was very delighted to read. The depth and level of insight provided in that article was simply more than I had ever given it before. I realized that there's a good chance I hadn't given a lot of scripture the in-depth examination it is truly worth even though I thought I typically did.

I'll continue to read the articles I find on here and see what comes of it.

I read a post by Cardinal about his "affiliations" in here and I think I share a similar belief and opinion to that as well. I find some truth's in every church but not the entire truth.

I'm sure there will be some very great discussions waiting to be had or read. I don't really have much else to say other than I believe in Christ Jesus as my Lord and Savior!

Which of the two parables in Luke 16 were you referring to?
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Great question. I take it for granted that most confusion revolves around a single parable though there are multiple.

I was referencing that of the rich man and Lazarus. On that note: Is Lazarus your real name or one taken from the bible and possibly more aptly, this parable?

I took my internet handle as a parody of the Robert Heinlein fictional character Lazarus Long.  Call me Laz.

Now that I know you were referring to the Rich Man & Lazarus parable, you know, there is a big "plot hole" in the "Hell" interpretation, and that is the reference at the end to Moses and the prophets.  I think the Hell-belivers feel confident that they back up eternal torment, but they don't.  I am halfway through Psalms, and so have examined all the books of Moses, failing to find any support for the concept of Hell.  I will be tackling the other prophets soon, and there is nothing yet to persuade me that there is a Hell.  Shucks, even Genesis 1:1 fails to mention that God made Hell, nor did He ever warn anyone of its dangers.  :2c:

Also - according to Hebrews Abraham is not there yet? See below - apart from us - the church which had not happened yet cause' Jesus was not on the cross yet?
