Scriptures say that flesh and blood do not inherit the kingdom of God so is it safe to day that Christ is no longer human? When he Jesus rose from the dead he revealed himself as a gardener, stranger, and the appearance he had during his earthly ministry. Lets us not forget that Christ said that we would be like the angels. Does this mean we will lose our sexuality when we become spiritual beings? If so how can I or we still be us if I am no longer a man?

:cloud9: My  :2c:....well apparently the angels had the ability to join with women and produce offspring, so I think you're "safe".   Blessings....

Flesh AND blood - no mention of blood before the Fall - Adam called Eve "flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone."  In the Kingdom, we will be Glorified into spiritual bodies - first the carnal, then the spiritual.  I keep reading allegations that our carnal reality is a holographic projection or a computer simulation - I think the Kingdom/spiritual reality is the true reality - permanent and very real.  We exist in something similar to a dream, soon forgotten after we are glorified, but seeming very real in the here-and-now.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

In the OT men are instructed to make no form/image of God.  that is because He can appear in any myriad of forms.  He appeared

like a man when coming to inspect Sodom/Gomorrah..and His visit with Abraham, where He announced Isaac's impending birth.

He may also appear as 'the angel of His presence" Rev 1;13,14  It is all part of His Glory...the ability of He to change His form/appearance

yet,He changes not.  Think fire/light beings..that can manifest in human form/angelic form etc

Also realize there is nothing else but Him...and this physical universe itself..consists of being a part of His substance. a form He has

taken temporally.  In Him we  really do live and move.Unless we eat[partake] of His flesh/body,and drink His blood life[live in Him] we

have no life in ourselves.  We know that this is true through Jesus...but it also is true with the Father.

I've heard that there will be, a one to one ratio,
between our bodies now and our glorified bodies .
That we will be individually eternal while being all in all.

dajomaco

He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been received because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

His disciples did not understand these things at first. However, when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

I believe that after Jesus Christ received his glorified body.
he was still Jesus, he just became more.

sheila

right,He changeth not..but able to take on many forms.  But even our glorified body is of God's substance.  Just as our temporal is

temple 'vessels' some gold, silver brass.  clay pots now...vessels.   One spirit/one flesh

The nature of our being and body will change in a way so profound we cannot yet fully understand it.

"We kno not yet what we shall be but we know that when He appears we will be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."

The fact that we will not be "reproducing" sexually does not necessarily mean we will have lost all the elements of our gender, which is deeper than physicality. Sons and daughters, the whole female aspect of God and the creation will remain in some aspects(imo), but we cannot yet know how. We only know that it will be "higher" and "deeper" and more glorious than we can presently understand.

We will retain our "selves", but as a rosebud, before it has bloomed, the "bloomed self" in the spirit realm will be more glorious, and like the "I AM", a self rooted and grounded in love, filled up unto all the fulness of God, unified in communion, love and the celebration of life with all other "selves"(eph 3).

1 Cor 15:49-53

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

For me the clearest verse that we will be raised as our "selves" with a literal physical body that is spiritually glorified to a state beyond what we can now comprehend is this verse..... the words of the risen Lord,

"See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet....(Luke 24:39)

Whatever Paul means by "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God", it does not mean that we will not be ourselves, or that we will not have a body, in the resurrection. We will be transformed into something new....new creations in Christ Jesus, death swallowed up by immortality, corruption swallowed up by incoruption.

In my opinion, it simply means that you cannot inherit the kingdom through flesh and blood(heritage or effort), you must be vivified by the Spirit, raised in "newness of life" as a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Thans for your response. I know I am asking something beyond scripture so we can only speculate what will happen. I was only concern that we will loose who we are. Jesus didn't really change when he was resurrected but I don't know if it safe to say that he is human.

It curious that we will longer be able to reproduce I hope that doesn't mean that God doesn't stop creating. I know He stopped but Christ said that God is always working so I find it hard to believe that creation will stop after we are all in all.

I tend to think of 'flesh and blood' not inheriting the earth, through the story of Nicodemus and his exchange with Jesus.

John 3:     Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

3 And there was a man of the Pharisees, Nicodemus his name, a ruler of the Jews,
2 this one came unto him by night, and said to him, `Rabbi, we have known that from God thou hast come -- a teacher, for no one these signs is able to do that thou dost, if God may not be with him.'
3 Jesus answered and said to him, `Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born from above, he is not able to see the reign of God;'
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, `How is a man able to be born, being old? is he able into the womb of his mother a second time to enter, and to be born?'
5 Jesus answered, `Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born of water, and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the reign of God;
6 that which hath been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which hath been born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 `Thou mayest not wonder that I said to thee, It behoveth you to be born from above;
8 the Spirit where he willeth doth blow, and his voice thou dost hear, but thou hast not known whence he cometh, and whither he goeth; thus is every one who hath been born of the Spirit.'
9 Nicodemus answered and said to him, `How are these things able to happen?'
10 Jesus answered and said to him, `Thou art the teacher of Israel -- and these things thou dost not know!
11 `Verily, verily, I say to thee -- What we have known we speak, and what we have seen we testify, and our testimony ye do not receive;
12 if the earthly things I said to you, and ye do not believe, how, if I shall say to you the heavenly things, will ye believe?

Aerex, rather than loose who we are, I picture us being beyond what we could ever imagine us to be, when complete in Christ. That is our best and final destiny.

God does not want to take from us, but give to us, abundantly.

He who began a good work in you, will bring it to completion, to the day of Christ, Jesus.

QuoteJesus didn't really change when he was resurrected but I don't know if it(is) safe to say that he is human.

It is safe to say that Jesus is Human. This is the whole point of God coming as a man. To be fully human is to be divine. The Glorified risen and ascended Jesus of Nazareth, born of a human virgin, born of God, is the restoration of Man to our proper form. We are the express  image of God our Father and Jesus the Man has restored us to this image.

What is Man that You are mindful of him? psalm 8

You crowned him with glory and honour. The glorified Man is 100% human and 100% God at the same time, for as He is so ARE WE in this world. 1 John 4:17 This is too amazing for our carnal minds to believe until He shows us. say that verse over and over and roll it around in your mind for a while.

As He is.....how is He?...glorified, dwelling in unapproachable light, at the right hand of the Father, full of glory, in the bosom of the Father, head of all principality and power, as He is....so ARE we.....not will be...ARE. We are as He is...NOW....not will be like Him one day......

It is in seeing this---that we see Him as He is----we are changed from glory to glory into the self same image....for we are becoming who we already are....as He is.

This is why (uncle)Festus said to Paul that much learning was driving him mad...

Aerex

Hmm I would gave to humbly disagree. I don't know where in scriptures that to be fully human means to be divine. I do know what you are saying such that we will be like him when he returns. I would think that to be human is to be carnal. I would agree that Jesus was human but i have time believing that he still is.

I mean we wil become new creations right.

When Jesus called God His Father the Jews wanted to stone him to death.

Joh 10:32 Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?"
Joh 10:33 The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."
Joh 10:34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I SAID, "YOU ARE GODS" '?
Joh 10:35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
Joh 10:36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
    Joh 10:37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;
Joh 10:38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."

See how Jesus is describing what a Human is? "...the Father is in Me, and I in Him." Human beings are not just flesh, they are spirit in a flesh body. In that way we are already divine, godlike. Man is made to be god on the earth under God's headship. This is what the Cross has restored man to. Of course we are awaiting the new body like HIs glorious body, but nonetheless man is already spirit(godlike/from God)soul and body.

Aerex

Interesting. Well I would expect that verse is pointing to himself rather then all of humanity.

Jesus is the begotten Son of God, firstborn of all creatures. It is through Jesus that all things were made.

Colossians 1:15-17 ASV
who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him; and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.

Therefore this makes Jesus a bit different than us right? Christ represents God and humanity represents Christ in my mind. I agree that we will be one with God when God is God is all in all but I don't necessarily counts as being divine. I still don't know what it really means for God to be all in all. There can only be one God, one Lord, one Spirit, one church (creation)

Rhodes

Yes Jesus is different and will always be the HEAD. But He  is the" first born of many brethren" as well. He is the first born of creation , meaning the pre-eminent One. He is God with US- Emmanuel...both human and God in one. THis is what God has done in us, in our spirit. It does not make us GOD..but Sons and Brethren. We are always the body of Jesus....Jesus is always our Head....eventually He hands over the kingdom to the Father when all things are put under HIs feet in the ages to come. WE as Sons in JEsus, equal eith Him because HE is our LIFE and S/spirit shall be involved in this "putting all things under" in those ages to come.

QuoteRom 8:29  For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

This is the whole purpose of the Father. Jesus the Son of God came to make a way to restore us all back to our original glory with the Father. We are begotten by the word of God. We are sons of God IN THE Son of God. Man was never meant to be alone or separate from God trying to please God by his own soulish ideas and efforts. God comes into man joining Himself with man's spirit.
Quote1Co 6:16  Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "THE TWO," He says, "SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH."
1Co 6:17  But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
The born again man is one spirit with God. This is the New Nature...the new creation man. The Holy Spirit is teaching and renewing our minds to who we are now in Jesus.

It's a little bit of a fine line.. imo.. Jesus said "touch me and see that I am no ghost.." (no spirit). I think much of et believes in inherent immortality (and a ghostly afterlife during death) rather than resurrection and "putting on immortality" at His return/the 1st resurrection-which is of all believers. But it was gnostic thought which believed all matter and physical was less than good.. forgetting how after each day of creation God said it was all good. That's why gnosticism ranged from extreme asceticism to grossly libertine like the Nicolaitans.. as all physical was evil, even eating, so to some factions, 'what the hey'..

Of course in other uses "the flesh" refers to not the body, but the lower carnal nature and unlawful/not right deeds and condition.
