I just got done watching Jimmy Carter's take on how Jesus sees same sex marriage. I think that folks ought to be very careful about the picture of Jesus they paint. How they try to shape Him into the meek soft, fluffy fella that is a unique fit for whatever their lifestyle happens to be.

To me, this is idolatry but Paul was very clear that "he who lies down with a male shall not see the kingdom of Heaven". I know that Christ will save all in the end but do we have to put up with what is clearly sin?

We are to be silent. Seems like the ones being persecuted here, is the Christians and not the homosexuals. Go figure??

Here's the link, It's about half way through that he speaks about same sex marriage. Maybe my attitude is wrong? If it is, someone please correct me?!

Hi Jock
, I trust the Word of God    and it is  clear

The whole world lies in wickedness  :sigh:

The Body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit

18Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.

19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?...

1 Corinthians 6:9
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
Jesus is the reward  !!

Jock

Hi Rose

You're right, agree with God!

Hey, this is a bit off topic but, do you have any clarity on this "will not inherit the kingdom of God" ?

ed

Here is a link from another board that is talking about the same thing...minus Jimmy.

A portion of Christianity is going to embrace SSM.
A portion of Christianity(the largest portion) is going to condemn SSM.

Is disagreeing with Paul a choice that we can make?
Can we disagree with Paul on the matter and still have a relationship with Christ?

Some will say yes, and some will say no.

If you disagree with Paul openly you will be asked the leave the site you are posting on, the church you are fellowshipping with.........you have to stay in the closet, how ironic.

Hi Rose

You're right, agree with God!

Hey, this is a bit off topic but, do you have any clarity on this "will not inherit the kingdom of God" ?

I believe    with all  in my heart that   Matt 5  describes to a T   how to inherit the Kingdom of God   Jock  , those  words of instruction  Jesus   declares
are how to follow Him , obedience is better than sacrifice

Those that do not  have peace and joy and the Holy Spirit   and are of the world a   friend to  the world  ISand  enemy  against God

Our Hope is In Christ making all   enemies under His feet , teaching and   reconciling the world to Himself one day

1Cor 15 The Order of Resurrection
...24then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

25For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26The last enemy that will be abolished is death....

...3You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"?...

Jesus said My kingdom is not of this world   John 18 Jesus Before Pilate
...35Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?" 36Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm."

I am    in the mindset that this world is  error   in death  and sin sickness    and the Lord Jesus Christ  raises us out of it  by the Holy Spirit   dwelling in us

He is all about LIFE       heal the sick raise the dead   , Matt 10 ...7"And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

Is at  Hand    I am under the impression it means   ''in power'' and'' now   is ''   So the Kingdom of Heaven seems to be   more of a mindset   of peace  in Jesus Christ and  joy  by the Holy Spirit witness

I hope you can tell me what you think this means Jock ?

Blessings from    the Lord   Jesus   :HeartThrob:
Jesus is the reward  !!

Jock.

Idolatry comes in many forms in this sin sick world. Same sex marriage is one evil among so many. I read that churches that ban same sex marriage will have their tax exempt status revoked.

Also in society there is an attack on young American girls to get them into a life style that is counter to Christian values.

Prime examples are the influence of pop rock stars Katey Perry and Taylor Swift. If you read or listen to some of their song lyrics, they are obnoxious and promote all sorts of illicite sexual behaviour.

Taylor Swift was recently here in town and performed to 13,000 sold out fans 99% women. She talked about promoting sisterhood, imagine what the means.
3 John 4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Ed, thanks for your post. I agree on your analysis of this although not sure if I could say that the vast majority will say no to gay marriage. Maybe it's because I live in Britain. This country has gone down that road and a few others. It has separated the sheep from the wolves!

Rose, fine post! Speaks to me of His Rest. Rest is a place where He is, and we know Him and He knows us. A blessed place. We agree with Him in all things for HE alone, is good.

Joe, yes, music influences people. One of my all time favourite song was "Hotel California" by the Eagles, esp the acoustic version, until I really listened to the lyrics and found out that it's a take on Anton Lavey's  Church of Satan in San Francisco. Now I can't bear that song. When I get up each morning, I boot up my computer and look out at a world of violence and decadence. There are lots of miserable people out there and I would love for them all to know that place Jesus speaks of "Come unto me ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest for your souls.

I also want to be wary of that place of a hard heart like the publican and the Pharisee "thank god I'm NOT like THAT man.
I too, am a sinner.  :sigh: Just not the homosexual sort.

Thanks guys for writing in

Shalom  :Peace2:

  Good post Jock !
Amen!!!   Soften our hearts and harden our hides,

not harden our hearts and  soften our  hides.

Where every  thing offends  and instead of love an mercy  coming from the heart .

we have  harsh  judgment   , as   far as I can tell ..

A little love goes a long long  way  ,where  as force gets you no place  fast    , as I have experienced  this before ..

"All things "are ours according to the scriptures   ,    as we are to learn  righteousness  in the earth  from those  experiences   in my opinion .

I love the new discovery  of  seeking  the joy in the Lord being  ,  my  prayer under my breath  , Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven   Lord   , when I come into those   problems   now
Instead of rising up in complaint   , like the children of the wilderness  example   is written ,  for  our benefit .

We see the earth  / world / field and  all the people   and   it   is   rising up     and falling  all over the place ...  I truly believe we are in the place of   "standing up for Jesus "       in the  many    who are  loosing their jobs and livelihood  and position    over refusing to marry   same sex couples   because of their faith    in seeing this as wrong    , escaping judgement  as the wrath of God abides   on the children of wrath    ,  the sheep from the goats from hearing His Voice  and obedience  in my opinion

You are right about that  !        TODAY    if you hear His Voice    and do not  harden heart   day provocation /rebellion

His voice  is Life  ,and the Spirit of truth   and the Word we obey   today   as   being Light   to us   , He heals our ears  to hear and  eyes to see and heart to understand  , this being  a salvation of sorts  , I believe as a truth .

The Dangers of Unbelief
...14For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, 15 while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME." 16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?...

Psalm 95:7
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice,

Hebrews 3:7
So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice,

Hebrews 4:7
God again set a certain day, calling it "Today." This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."

Our rest  in hope and  knowing the Love of God   though Christ   is our peace as we can see the world has no peace ,,,  not like Jesus  peace  in our hearts though faith   and will suffer    for our faith  , as the world hates   those in Christ   , not one jot or tittle of the law  shall pass away till all these things be fulfilled   . . .

and this generation   is bent on destruction  and tearing down the   TRUTH    and opposing it     ,in my opinion as of now .

  God bless  :HeartThrob:
Jesus is the reward  !!

I believe you're right on, Jock.  Not being puffed up, thinking we stand, better than, not forgetting to love and pray for everyone.  However, I believe Jimmy Carter specifically (myself or anyone else as applies) approving such things (and probably any sin) is to his/our own spiritual detriment and the probable spiritual harm to others.    I'm not sure how exactly God judges us believers for such disobedience, but He says He does.  I believe one way must be in this life, at the very least by hindering our fellowship with God, including a lack of peace and joy that comes from having a clear conscience.  There may be other ways as well, and I've wondered about it.  Romans 1 talks of "due penalty for their error".

a lot of good posts recently Ed

If you disagree with Paul openly..

:)  We're sort of the same way here, my brother, as one of the major expectations is a respect for scripture and textual criticism is not allowed (meaning repeated casting doubt/denying of accepted holy writ).  The past fruit of having allowed such is well-documented and unacceptable chaos.

I would say yes, one can have a relationship with Christ even if they disagree with Paul's writings - but also add, that we'd not be in complete obedience if doing so.

And IMO, here's why.  Because Paul speaking isn't just Paul (one argument might be when he says "I speak as a man" in one particular instance).  His writings, part of scripture, are actually inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.  So no, I don't think it's a good idea to disagree with him.
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

Jock

Cool, James, I agree. You are right in pointing out that it is Today! Christ is NOW, Today is the day of Salvation! Glory to God!!

...15and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15 - 17

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

Matthew 7:7 -8
