Free from sin not free to sin

I believe Jesus died so we could all be made free from sin by His righteousness through the cross and resurrection, when eternity begins. Not free to continue in sin without any consequences. ...which I believe is a common misunderstanding.  It will be a glorious day when The glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all people shall see it together "Isaiah 40:5 :HeartThrob:

As I see it......Christ Jesus is the perfect One.  And we, His body and bride, are "growing up in Him."  Maturing in Him, if you will.  So because we are in Him and He is in us...there is now no condemnation to those in Christ, and we are perfect in Him. But even so, there is accountability.

What I run into a lot when preaching UR is that people think that means I am promoting that everybody can do whatever they want to.....no worries.  LoL

So where I go with that line of thinking is to explain that there is always accountability before the Lord....always....and there is no biblical theology that can dismiss that reality ( at least that I've run into.)

What He accomplished on the cross for all of us does not mean that He just sweeps evil, unrepented works under the rug ... but it does mean He is Lord of heaven and earth and has every right and authority to  call each of us to the carpet.  Some are already on it...in a sense...called, sanctification, and yes, it's a process.

And I agree with Seth....don't look back....forget what's back there...He is bringing us on into His plans ...the future and the hope.

Yes, I agree with this, Psalm 91:4.

Less of us, more of Him. I think of it as we replace our materialistic self, with Christ, we are transformed into His likeness. And, the more we grow in our faith and trust, the more we see how incredibly HUGE our God is; the more we feel his presence in our lives, and His voice becomes clearer and clearer.

I am very, very new as a UR person, but, I already encountered a touch of what you are saying, regarding that no Hell means to do whatever one wants, and I can imagine what many of the people I know would say, if I were to start a discussion on it.

But, to me, what that says is, we should 'be good' for the wrong reasons. Love must be our motivation, or we are only 'clanging cymbals'.  If we are motivated to 'be good' because of fear of Hell, then I believe we are missing the point, of how great our God is.....we are not aware of the immense love He has for us, and the true significance of His sacrifice on the cross. Not to judge them, though, but just a general thought of what I believe to be a better way to look at our relationship with the Almighty. We can only 'be good' because God gives us the grace to be so. Without His Light, we would be in pitch black darkness. 

1 Corinthians 13: 1 - 3

13 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn't love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it;[a] but if I didn't love others, I would have gained nothing.

To sin, to miss the mark, what is the mark?

Love is the "bond of perfectness".

When most people want to point out sin in others they are looking at a portion of law that they ascribe to.

Free from judgement.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

If we bring it all back down to the basics of faith, hope, and love we work on the "God in the individual" aspect of our faith.

God is omnipresent so God is with us even in our sin.  This to me is the most overlooked aspect of Christianity turning our faith into a religion of trying to earn God's acceptance.

Missing the mark is a personal thing between God and the individual.

I am free from any who would judge me according to their standard of righteousness.

Where in the Bible does it say we can do what ever we want. I would think that you either a slave to your carnal mind or you are a slave to God.

It is the grace of God that causes people to do good. Thus, the phrase I can do whatever I want doesn't make sense because you can't do whatever you want in the first place.

To sin is to miss the mark.  Love is the mark.  There are consequences.  Mainly for me the consequences are loss of joy, and a type of dissatisfaction.  I prefer to love because of the benefits.

I'm not looking for a future salvation, I'm looking for a present salvation.  To be saved is to be made whole or complete.  That is why I maintain spirituality because it is the wonderful part of wholeness or salvation.  The future will take care of itself.  God is good now, God will be good in the future, the right now is where salvation is a benefit.

Good point.  "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

We can choose to walk in grace or not.  We can choose to be carnally minded or spiritually minded.  It is an every day, every moment choice.

That's just it...there ARE ALWAYS consequences for sin, whether they believe it or not. For anyone retorting to that excuse, just take them over to a place with whatever their favorite thing or things are. Tell them they can have all they want [enjoy the pleasures of sin]. All they have to do is reach out and grab it. And don't worry about the um...trap. I will save you if you get caught in it...(and you WILL).

I really was going to try and be quiet and stay in a low place  , because    of a rising up in offence and pride'' a hidden pride in me ''  deep seated in my heart   ''got the best of me ''     the   strong willed ones are always ''ready to stand '' and feel as if that is not what God intended   ,  when you stand for what is right in  the sight of God    by the SPIRIT OF TRUTH    witness     ,love keeps no record of wrong doing ...

But   still being carnal in nature was a death sentence right there on the spot  , and who suffered for the wrong !    the Spirit of Christ in me    was  put to death

  We bind the Lord with our wills  of  desires  and nature that opposes HIS HOLY SPIRIT

Blind  to our own doings  ,   the rising up of the old man of sin against another's old man of sin   and pride comes before a fall    :sigh:

I agree that it's a common misconception about those of us who believe the full scope of the evangel that we think we're now free to forget about the consequences of sin, but that's usually coming from somebody who is already deceived by the lie of "hell" perpetrated by their church doctrine. Thank God we are free indeed, but feeling free to sin now is the farthest thing from our minds because just knowing how much God love us makes us love him more and want to share his love with everybody else. I think we're going to go a little coocoo waiting for eternity to begin though because it's kind of like a circle with no beginning or end. I think what we're really looking forward to is immortality, which I think is going to be amazing! No offense intended by the clarification.

Yes....it is mostly the hell believers that think that of us. But not all of them..some are loving, some are hurting and confused. Like most of us used to be. I just want to share the Truth..Because I love God so much now. I couldn't trust Him before. I want people to know how beautiful He is and worship Him in Spirit and Truth and to have the peace that we know. Its not spreading as fast as I thought it would...but I must trust in His purpose and timing.

As it's been said before, the allure of breaking the law dissipates when the law is void. If you subject yourself to the law, the temptation returns.

I think this last line is an important point. We are no longer under the Law, since Jesus saved us, but under grace.

The Law condemns, the Gospel saves.
