EW, I have said that I was not referring to the music of the earth.

I have said that I was not talking about the earth when I wrote that statement that you have quoted me as saying.

I was writing about a possible next stage of being - one which mirrors the earth of the things which people assume is real beauty whereas only that which is of sacrifical love is real beauty, therefore anything less is a temptation in which people think they are in "paradise" as it conforms to their treasures. I have expressed my opinion that this is not where Jesus Christ has in mind for His children ultimately, not to think "Heaven" is based on earthly values of happiness but spiritual values of Love.

This is not referring to music on earth being "earthly" music. I have heard your music and found it excellent. There is a communication problem as we have different ideas of the future.

Harmony, Peace and Joy

"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one". "Christ is like leaven for the entire mass, and having made that which was damned one with himself, frees the whole from damnation".

I understand what you are saying- but now you are writing a whole lot into that one little statement, which I am still pretty sure I disagree with, despite all the latent explanations.  :o)

I think the common joys of earth are gifts of God and reflections of eternity. Heaven is coming to earth. The new heavens and the new earth will flow in bounty in many of the same ways the earth does not- enhanced by the glory of God.

I have felt joy unspeakable and full of glory, the Lord is so generous and kind and gracious to us all.

I just see Him as distributing simple blessings in abundance for all to enjoy, and the celebration of that abundance- whether through music or just laughter or through tears, in heaven or on earth- these are the ways in which God demonstrates His faithfulness to all men.

Yes, EW, you see it as one thing and I see it as two. I see it this way: There is a spiritualisation of the earth and there is a passage through the heavens.

As far as I understand, people need healing and there is healing power for some needing it with the music in the Next Life. Souls need healing for various reasons but in one area it is because they need to attune to the praise of their God, and they will eventually be healed enough to realise the music is all praising their God. It was this 'area' or 'sphere' which was meant to be for good souls with earthly desires (and they find it their desires there) - I was saying to Dandelion that it was not for us as we are taught by Christ not to be of the world.

I think really you have misunderstood what I was saying to Dandelion and you have taken it to heart. I did not put it nearly as clearly as it was inside my mind so I will learn a lesson from that and perhaps keep silent on such issues unless somebody actually unfolds truths in that area.

It is not a problem, it is life.

THOU, WHOSE ETERNAL WORD

Thou, whose eternal word
Chaos and darkness heard,
And took their flight;
Hear us, we humbly pray,
And, where the Gospel's day
Sheds not its glorious ray,
Let there be light!

Thou, who didst come to bring
On Thy redeeming wing
Healing and sight,
Health to the sick in mind,
Sight to the inly blind,
O now, to all mankind,
Let there be light!

Spirit of truth and love,
Life giving, holy Dove,
Speed forth Thy flight;
Move on the water's face
Bearing the lamp of grace,
And, in earth's darkest place,
Let there be light!

This is a hymn we sang in our little gathering tonight.

There are two first lines to this hymn, one uses
'Almighty Word' and one is 'Eternal Word'.

I think 'Eternal Word' is better personally.

A traveller from Canada turned up which was really nice, she is on a three month tour. She joined in with our little Communion service although she is not a Christian. I will think of souls like her as 'unconscious Christians' in the nicest possible way!

There is a strong presence of Christ in our chapel always, and I think Peter is coming up next week chronologically speaking.

I am not sure you understand the way I see it :o)- and as I said before- I have not taken anything to heart, I just disagreed with a particular statement and the tone of it. In my world, that is no reason to take anything to heart. It is how we test the spirits, discover what someone is saying if we can, and grow in understanding.

You are indeed right- it is not a problem, it is life.

I just want to say, that music can be so healing. It can cut through so many layers of this world, I believe, and find us in our heart and soul.

It is a complicated story, but for about 27 years, I did not really listen to music. I loved it as a child, adolescent and young adult, but I was in a place, where I suppose one would say, I couldn't receive it, and I guess it penetrated my wall, which I had built to be able to perpetuate the lies I was believing.

So, one evening, I was helping out in a Christian Coffeehouse, which I did once a month, but instead of doing, what I call the 'Martha routine', I was so exhausted, I sat in the back, in the darkness. Someone, who is like family to me now, was singing that evening. I had seen him, 'heard' him, but had never listened to him. As I listened, the presence of God in the songs he was singing, broke the walls.

This was about 5 years ago. Now, I listen to music daily, and mostly Christian music. I listen in the car, sing along, and it is amazing what the music and lyrics have done to bolster my faith and joy. I attend many concerts, now, and am surrounded by music, as much as possible.

St. Augustine said that when we sing we pray twice. I agree.

Thank you all for sharing your songs with me, and us.

Music is a wonderful gift, from God.

:gguitar:

Dear Dandelion, thank you for this. I felt for you having been without music and then encountering its healing powers.

In my opinion! Music is an integral part of God's great scheme of things and has many phases and uses, either in service and ultimately in praise of the great God. It is not hard to imagine that music becomes even more beautiful and its effects more clear as the children of God grow into the sons and daughters of God - one can also imagine having a greater ability to hear and feel music by the abilities of those spiritual bodies Paul tells us about. I find that idea full of hope and inspiration, a never-ending unfolding of God's beauty and Love which He has so graciously thought out at every stage for the future Life of His children - His children!

Peace, Joy, Harmony and Freedom in the Divine Melodies that shall always be
"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one". "Christ is like leaven for the entire mass, and having made that which was damned one with himself, frees the whole from damnation".

Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.

Standing On the Promises of Christ My King

    Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
    Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
    Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
    Standing on the promises of God.

        Refrain:
        Standing, standing,
        Standing on the promises of God my Saviour;
        Standing, standing,
        I'm standing on the promises of God.

    Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
    When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
    By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
    Standing on the promises of God.

    Standing on the promises I now can see
    Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
    Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
    Standing on the promises of God.

    Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
    Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord,
    Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
    Standing on the promises of God.

    Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
    List'ning every moment to the Spirit's call,
    Resting in my Saviour as my all in all,
    Standing on the promises of God.

We heard about Cephas tonight.

I feel that Peter understood that his denial of Jesus followed by his lifetime of openly claiming Him, is a blessing and inspiration to some who feel that they can never overcome their feelings of guilt.

All things are possible with Christ.

Tonight us few sang this hymn...

WHO ARE THESE LIKE STARS APPEARING?

http://cyberhymnal.org/htm/w/h/o/whoaretl.htm

Who are these like stars appearing,
These before God's throne who stand?
Each a golden crown is wearing;
Who are all this glorious band?
Alleluia! Hark, they sing,
Praising loud their heav'nly King.

Who are these of dazzling brightness,
These in God's own truth arrayed,
Clad in robes of purest whiteness,
Robes whose luster ne'er shall fade,
Ne'er be touched by time's rude hand?
Whence come all this glorious band?

These are they who have contended
For their Savior's honor long,
Wrestling on till life was ended,
Following not the sinful throng;
These who well the fight sustained,
Triumph through the Lamb have gained.

These are they whose hearts were riven,
Sore with woe and anguish tried,
Who in prayer full oft have striven
With the God they glorified;
Now, their painful conflict o'er,
God has bid them weep no more.

These, like priests, have watched and waited,
Offering up to Christ their will;
Soul and body consecrated,
Day and night to serve Him still:
Now in God's most holy place
Blest they stand before His face.

Now we are looking at Forgiveness – the forgiveness of others. One thing I find worth considering is the spiritual value of Forgiveness, and how this value would be absent if there was no cause to necessitate forgiveness in us. God can use the ignorance, selfishness and even evil of His fallen children to teach the children willing to learn how to grow. GOD is the Great Constructor, the Divine Reconciler through His Christ.

With Gratitude to Him always ✞
"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one". "Christ is like leaven for the entire mass, and having made that which was damned one with himself, frees the whole from damnation".

We few sang this song on Sunday, admittedly it was not on the scale of the included link - but that's not the point, it's just as uplifting with only two or three singing...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60f-xF6mRvs

   Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

     This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
  Praising my Saviour all the day long.

2
   Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

3
   Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Saviour am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Oh Christ, make our hearts light, and remove from our eyes the fog which lingers between that which is unreal and that which is Real.

Whatever the future has in store, grant that we can continue on the upward path in faith, certain  that the ways of the Supreme Being, God Almighty, are best, knowing that each day brings the choice of the Spirit to us.

And knowing this, grant that we may push forward whatever the shadows of terror may attempt to throw in front of our view, that we may not shrink back but fight onwards with Thee always by our side because we have come to a Consciousness of Thee which cannot be shaken by any enemy.

Make us more sensitive and aware of the needs of our brothers and sisters wherever they may be, in whatever race or creed they may find themselves, make us more generous in love, that we may pray and love our way through each and every day that Thou dost give us.

Peace and again Peace brothers and sisters ✞

Friends, because 'Service' was our theme tonight in our little church, we began our time together with:

"Have you had a kindness shown?"

1 Have you had a kindness shown?
Pass it on, pass it on!
'Twas not giv'n for thee alone,
Pass it on, pass it on!
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another's tears;
Till in heav'n the deed appears,
Pass it on, pass it on!

Refrain:
Pass it on, pass it on!
Cheerful word of loving deed,
Pass it on,
Live for self, you live in vain;
Live for Christ, you live again,
Live for Him, with Him you reign.
Pass it on, pass it on!

2 Did you hear the loving word?
Pass it on, pass it on!
Like the singing of a bird?
Pass it on, pass it on!
Let its music live and grow,
Let it cheer another's woe;
You have reaped what others sow,
Pass it on, pass it on! [Refrain]

3 Have you found the heav'nly light?
Pass it on, pass it on!
Souls are groping in the night,
Daylight gone, daylight gone!
Hold your lighted lamp on high,
Be a star in someone's sky,
He may live who else would die,
Pass it on, pass it on! [Refrain]

We prayed together something like this:

"O God, we enter into the Silence, and because the spirit within craves to make all that which is of Thee its own, we ask that Thou - by Thy love - hold it out to us.

Grant it possible that each one of Thy children is able to truly offer from themselves that within which is of the spirit - because they are conscious that they belong to Thee, and they know who they are because they are Thine.

May our minds be trained, O Christ, so that our wills may be blended with Thine. Grant that the power to love is given. Give to us a faith which is strong, a purpose which is renewed, and a peace which is deep and binding - all of which are brought through knowledge of Thee.

Help us to always commend ourselves into Thy loving care, certain that Thou wilt send down the power needed to follow Thee, so that with happy hearts we may be confident in the direction of our God... Amen...

We – us few who go to our little church – we heard about Service tonight. We believe we are instruments of God, used in one degree or another, and therefore we claim nothing for ourselves.

So, we believe, solely because of the wonderful generosity of our God... we believe because we have Him in our hearts... we believe because we are made in His image - that He blesses us in the sense that He can use us in the most simple things in daily life – in the round of the day, in the routine, in hundreds and thousands of trivial thoughts and acts that escape our minds – trivial so we think –, that God uses us as we serve to further His plan.

It is wonderful because, in the main, those who serve others in His name are blind to the blessings He bestows, expect in the sense that we know He has asked us to follow Him, to be of service to Him, which means being of service to others for their sake and for His sake.

It seems that the point is often overlooked that if we could see the results of our faith then we should be robbed of the blessing – robbed because faith would be certainty and no longer faith. Ah, this point could be so developed to bring in so many lost children who have not been told when they could understand - yet Service is our theme.

So those who carry out the mundane things in life, those who wish the best for others, those who strengthen others, those who gave out a little thought of compassion in passing to the one looking troubled - which they had forgotten but which God had not forgotten...for these is being brought together by God's most wonderful spiritual laws a very firm foundation for a time when the blindness of the physical eyes is no more.

So what of those who must earn their daily bread for themselves and those who depend on them? Is this service? Ah yes, but there it does not end as many may think. Rest and health are a right of the human machine - it is practical sense - but Service in the God sense does not end there.

We believe that we were made in the image of God and therefore His spirit is in us... or rather before the short life of the decaying body of flesh was donned we were made of His spirit which was granted individuality – a child of God, a new spirit of His. Thus within each one, in miniature, there is a power and a strength which can be brought out by preparation – a power and strength that can defy the moaning and grumbling of the mind of the physical body seeking escape from the Service which the spirit within so desires – which God so desires.

Made in the image of God... When the mind complains it has no force remaining, when the body aches and the eyes grow weary – so the real being, the higher self, the Divine You – so the original You can step in and take control, and why? Because God is spirit and we are spirit and we are never separated from the Source who is God – never separated except by the mind of the body, the mind that is not blended with the Divine Will.

Billions of miracles are being worked, moment by moment, by God the Constructor, God the Redeemer... worked out of the little contributions made by His children who shall not see the results while bound by the eyes of the body – contributions of which His children are generally aware. When the work of the day is done then, during rest, the heart and mind can be set to prayer for those suffering on the other side of this little world, during rest an influence and a power can be set into being because God is within.

To that which is given by the followers of Christ, much shall be given, and into much they shall pass when their short span is over. Yet spare compassionate thoughts for those who have given nothing much at all, those who have failed to create the conditions where God can give the unlimited abundance He longs to give... spare compassion for them for they will not be able to forgive themselves for wasting and squandering the immense and glorious opportunities which were theirs, always theirs, if only they had allowed the God within them to direct them.

It is by faith in God as shown through His Christ when on earth – it is by faith that the Divine within should be allowed to operate – because if God was to reveal the whole picture to His children during their earthly sojourn, then they would be stripped of the gifts He preserves for them borne out of their faith.

We – those few of us who go to our church – we shall continue further with this theme of 'Service' next week, as it is but the outermost tip of the faintest of glints of His Light and Beauty.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was ill and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

37 'Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

39 When did we see you ill or in prison and go to visit you?"

40 'The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

41 'Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the fire which is age-long prepared for the devil and his angels.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was ill and in prison and you did not look after me."

44 'They also will answer, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or ill or in prison, and did not help you?"

45 'He will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."

If I may take the liberty of summarising this little look into Service as I understand it, it can be seen that God creates an abundance, even treasure in heaven, out of the many little acts of love and sacrifice – an abundance which is waiting for the servants who serve in the Christ Way, although now the results of their Service are hidden...

QuoteBillions of miracles are being worked, moment by moment, by God the Constructor, God the Redeemer... worked out of the little contributions made by His children who shall not see the results while bound by the eyes of the body – contributions of which His children are generally unaware.

Matthew 13:31,32

"Again he said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade."

Matthew 13:33

"He spoke another parable to them: The kingdom of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until it had been all leavened."

QuoteTo that which is given by the followers of Christ, much shall be given, and into much they shall pass when their short span is over.

Mark 4:24,25

"Consider carefully what you hear," he continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. Whoever has will be given more..."

Matthew 25:28-29

"...Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance..."

QuoteYet spare compassionate thoughts for those who have given nothing much at all, those who have failed to create the conditions where God can give the unlimited abundance He longs to give... spare compassion for them for they will not be able to forgive themselves for wasting and squandering the immense and glorious opportunities which were theirs, always theirs, if only they had allowed the God within them to direct them

Mark 4:25

"...whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them..."

Matthew 25:29-30

"But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. And throw that worthless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'"

It seems to me that the words of Jesus are His Word and they are full of Spirit. He has given a complete yet simple guide - available to any human mind, young, old, simple, complex - by the Example of His life and the spirit of His teachings - Word made flesh - for a human being to follow in order to know what is the right path on which to tread to do the Will of the Supreme. Moreover, His wonderful and simple Way will always be there for those who do not yet hear His call to give and serve others with selfless love and sacrifice - when these have burnt out their selfishness and self-seeking material desires and are ready to take up their cross in loving Service...Christ is there, He never leaves them.

Oh, such perfection, such perfection. Only the mind of man complicates such exquisite simplicity and sweetness because it is too simple for his complicated thinking.

The Peace of Christ ✞ passes all understanding
"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one". "Christ is like leaven for the entire mass, and having made that which was damned one with himself, frees the whole from damnation".
