Threatening Messages

I received a threatening PM today from a newer member, saying God gave permission for him to tell me that if I participate in the forum God will bring curses upon me and a harmful spirit.  Also, that a member of my family would die if I banned him.  This member has been here before doing the same thing, and I know several members received similar PMs in the past.  I have contacted him offering him help, but also that any further disturbance won't be allowed.

If you receive any such message from him please don't be alarmed.  Things will be dealt with accordingly, just please inform us.  Also, a bunch of such mess won't be allowed on the boards to disrupt the spirit of things;  if he starts posting nonsense it will be removed and he will be dismissed from the boards.  On the other hand, if he's open to receiving help, I'm sure we will try to do so.  The history is that he is not.

Folks should be able to have discussions together without threatening or even emotionally upsetting others because we're here to communicate our various perspectives aware that everybody sees things a little differently. So we shouldn't get mad about somebody else not agreeing with us about anything. I've had some people get tense with me in the past on this forum, but I didn't let it bother me because I don't take folks seriously who are only interested in trying to establish that their perspective is the only right way to see things. I think anybody who is arrogant, insensitive of others, and disrespecting others is just a legend in his own mind and somebody who is amusing not somebody to be feared even if that person says "thus sayeth the Lord to me about you." We are all supposed to be family here, the ecclesia, the body of Christ, and we should act like it. Families have some disagreements, but you don't have to attack somebody personally just because you don't interpret scripture the same way as somebody else. It's supposed to be all about love folks not enmity. If you're upset about something, take a break, and lighten up. It ain't that serious. We're all here to find fellowship not competition. So try to keep the discussion in the loving spirit of God because that's what it's all supposed to be about. That's just my own personal opinion, but I'm not going to let anybody spook me about anything here because I'm just going to keep on grinning. So God bless you all, and just remember we're here to love one another, not give each other a hard time about anything. There is no doctrine that is worth getting mad about or disrespecting your brothers and sisters over. So lighten up and enjoy the communication. Peace

Received a reply today, again threatening, saying he had defeated us morons on the boards in the past when he was here, saying if he was banned a spirit would come upon someone in my family and they would die.  That he rules the spirit realm by the Holy Ghost, can do to me whatever he likes, etc.

Help was offered one more time, to get him into needed treatment.  Maybe so far I'm the only one getting these messages, but if not, please let me know.  If he doesn't accept the offer this time he will be banned.  However, he will likely show up again at some point, so don't be alarmed.  The last time he was here the thread went on for about 4 or 5 pages of insults and ridiculous challenges, threats, and claims.  Won't happen again, Lord willing.

As far as banning is concerned, I guess I can put up with some guff as long as it's just to me in my PMs.  But please let me know if anyone else gets it (last time I think at least 20+ people got the messages and it caused concern and confusion), and especially we'll watch for it on the boards.  Thanks.

Wow! That's crazy stuff. The guy's definitely on a power trip, and it ain't holy spirit. Do you guys check IP addresses when somebody new signs up? I guess somebody could use different webmail addresses and IP addresses at public computers. So maybe that wouldn't help anyway. It sounds like it was coming from somebody who knew they were on the edge of getting banned and kept pushing their luck until it happened like maybe even somebody that it happened to very recently. It's sad that some folks can't just agree to disagree about some stuff because there are a bunch of different views on a bunch of stuff here. I don't get tense about it. I just try to keep a sense of humor about it all, but I guess some folks get mad if they can't always win at the game. I've read some stuff in the news lately trying to come off as unbiased intellectual information about how scripture is probably just mythology and using things like the Dan Brown nonsense of Jesus and Mary Magdalene as probable truth. People like that seem to prefer the gnostic accounts of events or even some ancient text that has been discredited by critical scholars rather than those in the canon. I think there has to be some faith involved in considering any ancient documents or even any modern documents or information because you never know the motivation behind them. I think we need to exercise discernment. I was starting to see some stuff here lately that definitely didn't seem like it was coming from a spirit of love regardless of the information, and I don't think the source of information was very good either. I think it's a shame that church doctrine has distorted common perception of scripture. I guess the best thing to do is just try to get as much information as you can about any subject you're interested in to make a good decision about what to believe, and then still keep an open mind in case something else comes up that may change the perception of it. But I definitely don't think folks need to get too crazy about it. If you don't want to hear what other folks have to say, then just publish your own website and preach any kind of crazy ideology you want to. Chances are some folks might even get behind it and join in with you, but hopefully you won't lead too many astray if you're not speaking the truth in love.

Yes, he used different IP addresses to register, as well as different username.

I did go ahead and ban him just now.  His latest message was very vile, telling me what he wanted to do to me and my family sexually.  + other things.  Enough I guess.  Oh well, not everyone is a friend or brother, or in the body yet.  I did leave a message with a phone # to the National Institute for Mental Illness helpline, and suggested he call on Jesus to save him and deliver him from the evil within him.  Sigh...

But again, if he comes back as someone else and anyone receives threats, please let us know.  Thanks.

If it's who I'm thinking of, he seemed to have an agenda of a racist militant advocate for the gay lifestyle disregarding what scripture has to say about it. I hope you mods have insulated yourselves well enough to protect against real world revenge. I think it's wise that you carry, bro.

It's a different guy.  Was here sometime last year.  Some will remember;  it's the "you guys are morons", "compare yourself to me", "you're idiots", "Seven spirits of God..do you agree..Yes or no?"... guy.  He was also pelting other Christian sites with his stuff.  Went last year by 2 different names of Ezekiel James and Stephen Levi.    Ed had some conversations with him, in fact the main conversation was Ed's thread because he'd received one of his threatening PMs at that time and brought it up for discussion.  Although pretty savagely attacked, I thought Ed handled it very well.  Others tried to be helpful as well.

This time he only made a couple of posts and didn't blast into the general boards, for some reason singling me out through PM.  Anyway, not sure what his agenda is.  Maybe he'll get some help.  But in the meantime, don't let anyone here be injured or confounded by it if it crops up again.  Don't take it personally, just let us know, and let's all watch for it on the boards and please report it if you see it.  Thanks, blessings.

That must have been when I was taking a break because I don't remember it. I think it's funny that he thought somehow he was going to dominate others with his ridiculous arrogance. I don't take guys like that seriously.

You're right rosie, he can't do anything new unless he rejoins under a different username.  It was almost a year between times this time.  So maybe we have a year without that harrassment ahead of us :).

Unfortunately, the other 2 you mention are still yet 2 separate individuals apart from Ezekiel James/Stephen Levi.  "Kind Hands" did register with several different names as well though after being banned and coming back creating havoc.  JH and KindHands are from different parts of the world.  One from Finland, the other from the Netherlands.  Hey, we have friends all over.   :dsunny:

Ya know, I was thinking of a way to maybe minimize the problem, but some folks might not want to participate, me included, because I just quit a site that decided to do it recently for more or less the same reason, to keep scammers from contacting people. That's requiring a credit card for an account. I think some kind of proof of identity would be good though, but I don't like giving out my card number on random sites for proof of identity because you might get your info stolen by hackers. Maybe requiring that a verification code be sent to your mobile phone would be good. Then any criminal activity could be tracked to the person through their phone unless it's a throw away phone. Sites like Google and YouTube use a mobile phone verification code.
