Aleppo | An ISIS jihadist has recently converted to Christianity after being left for dead near the Eastern border of Syria where he was finally rescued by Christian missionaries from the region, reports the Aleppo Herald this morning.

The man, that has miraculously survived multiple gun shot wounds after an altercation between ISIS and Syrian Army forces, was rescued by members of the Saint Dominican Catholic Presbytery of Ayyash hours after the conflict had erupted.

The members of the Christian organization wanted to give the man a proper Christian burial and carried him over 26 kilometers before the man miraculously came back to life as he was believed to have died from his wounds.

As the man came back to his senses, he reported to priest Hermann Groschlin of the visions he had whilst in the afterlife, an event that profoundly changed the 32-year old jihadist and eventually led to his conversion to Christianity days later.

"He told me that he was always taught that to die as a martyr would open him the Gates of Jannah, or Gates of Heaven" recalled the priest. "Yet, as he had started to ascend towards the light of the Heavens, devilish entities, or Jinns he called them, appeared and led him to the fiery pits of Hell. There he had to relive all the pain he had inflicted upon others and every death he had caused throughout his entire life. He even had to relive the decapitations of his victims through their own eyes", images the jihadist claims will haunt him for the rest of his life, admits the priest.

"Then Allah, or God, spoke unto him and told him that he had failed miserably as a human soul, that he would be banned from the Gates of Heaven if he chose to die, but that if he chose to live again, he would have another chance to repent of his sins and walk along God's path once again"
The young man claims he was brought back to life moments later and eventually converted to Christianity days later, believing he had been misled throughout his religious life under the worship of Allah.

The young man, who's wounds have surprisingly healed in a very short time, has chosen to live amongst the members of the Catholic presbytery who rescued him from the desert and hopes his story will help other ISIS fighters change their ways and convert to the one and only true God, the priest told local reporters.

Very interesting article to read. Who knows what to make of it. Great if it is really true. Some of the comments go back to the idea that we all worship the same god. Nonsense. I heard a former president also say the same thing.  :2c: :2c:

yes, it caught my interest, and i looked around at some other reports of it on the web.  i agree though about "the same G/god", I don't believe YHWH is the god of islam.

so a few things that strike me;  some good things about it, him converting, how his judgment went, i.e., reviewing and suffering for what he did which reportedly brought about repentance.  some things i question;  did he turn to Jesus, or roman christianity?  allah met him at heaven's gates?  he was taken by demonic creatures to a literal fiery "hell"?  if he died that would be it, he'd seal his fate into "hell"?  so he had to choose to keep breathing in his current fleshly body to have a chance to make it to heaven?  for me, the article raises more questions than provides "answers"... :Chinscratch:

Often I think the whole salvation issue is psychological.. and near death experiences, as they're called I believe is truth coming at someone but it gets interpreted through the individual psyche in its own particular symbols.. Otherwise I wouldn't know what to make of the blend of true with untrue.. and in this case, quite a bit of it.

Way interesting story though! And I hope it's true!

Do you believe in Nirvana NDE's? Re-incarnation NDE's? There have been myriad's of kinds of NED's.

Why pick the hell NDE's to believe?

Believe the word of God and you will be much better off. :o)

I think this is the accurate explanation of NDE's. They are all interpretations through the psyche of the person having them and can be interpreted in many ways.

:Chinscratch: I didn't realize other religions and philosophies also have their version of NDE's! I hadn't thought about that possibility..

Question for Eaglesway, how would you respond when a NDE/ET supporter says that satan causes the NDE's of other religions to make people doubt Christianity?

marie glen

I'm not EW, but all of them are in order to make people doubt death..? where all would go if not for Jesus and God's Great Plan of Salvation..? ...to make ppl believe death is but another form or dimension of 'life'..?

I think it likely that Satan is sometimes involved with NDE's, after all, when you are out of the body, you are in the spirit world. I used to use hallucinogenic drugs, practice astral traveling and lucid dreaming, and I definitely met some spirits out there(or in there, depending on where i really was on each trip, lol).

I think when people are in comas or when they are out of their minds on drugs(pharmekia, sorcery) they often interact with spirits- and not always evil spirits, but often they are evil spirits, authors of confusion, messengers of the father of lies.

Speaking of death metaphorically in Eclesiastes 12:1-8

:6 Remember Him before the silver cord is broken and the golden bowl(heart?) is crushed, the pitcher by the well(spirit?) is shattered and the wheel at the cistern(soul?) is crushed;

I believe the silver cord is representative of something real, a connection to the body from the inner man during life. Sometimes it gets stretched. When it snaps you are dead. Consciousness is a funny thing when one is outside of the body, or also- lost within the mind. I have experienced both intensely, but I don't like to speak from my experience other than to say, "this is what I believe".

I believe NDE's have several different sources, some physchological, some spiritual and false, some spiritual and true- but perhaps misinterpreted, some spiritual and true/real.

If someone must look into them, I highly reccomend discerning them by the word of God(lamp to my feet).

Any other path leads to madness ;o)

I've been there and done that too. I agree that mystical experiences are filtered through a person's own spiritual understanding affected by religious and other philosophical information, and I agree the only good way to interpret them is according to the word of God. It's interesting that most of them seem to involve experiencing the light and love that are interpreted by the person experiencing it as being in the presence of God even after the spooky part of the trip that may precede it. Scripture tells us God is light and love. I actually was convinced that scripture is the inspired written word of God through one. Before that I wasn't even familiar with scripture having been raised in the Roman Catholic Church. I really believe the spirit of God comes into you through scripture and gives you wisdom and discernment. I don't need any other vision now than what I see everyday around me. Everyday life is a trip for me now that's continually blessed by God's love. Back in the sixties lots of people talked about peace and love, but I think the source of that love was interpreted differently by different people just as it is today with the Eastern philosophies being popular and preferred by many. I found out from experience though that those philosophies are shortsighted because they focus on man being the center of his universe rather than the living God. You can't achieve immortality through meditation. God will give everybody immortality at the consummation of the eons. God is the source of all, the one operating all according to his will, and the goal of all. The sooner a person figures that out the sooner that person no longer needs to go outside or inside to try to find peace because it is the spirit of God within that gives you peace and love. At the consummation of the eons all will experience that to the max when God will be all in all.

eaglesway

The only true witness is love. The greatest testimony of love is Christ crucified. But there is so little love in western christianity(my opinion) that God is going to do something unique and transcendant in these last days as a witness to a generation lost in chaos. I look forward to it. I have seen it, as Moses saw the promised land from the mountain top. I have a full assurance of faith that the true gospel of Jesus Christ, including the promise of the "restoration of all things spoken of by all the prophets since the foundation of the world"will be proclaime with power and glory before the end of the age, in some new way, somerthing fresh like a river of living water from beneath the throne.

I hope I am here for it, and a part of it, but if not, I exult in the hope of the glory of God who will fulfill all things in due time.

Romans 8:24 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

I feel this man was shown the error of his ways and he was led to Jesus.  He had a hellish experience but I think God's plan was to give him life and not to condemn him.  He was saved from ISIS and forgiven.  And the second testimony of the Muslim who saw Jesus is powerful too.
