John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Luke 9:54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, shall we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

One of the biggest hindrances to understanding the scripture and the nature of God is not knowing what spirit we are of. Think of it as looking at the world through a red veil. If, by some means, you had always looked at he world through a red veil, you would see an image of reality but you would have a very distorted view, and you would not know it, if you had never seen the world as it is, until the veil was removed.

Many centuries of teaching have been centered in a "presumption of destruction", a false assumption that God was content to destroy or bind in eternal torment most of His created beings. Yet, Jesus plainly said that He did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.

There is a great historical dispute about judgment. People stand on one side a say, "Judge not lest you be judged". On the other side people stand and shout "Beware the judgment to come".

But we read so carelessly. Jesus did not say that there is no judgment. He said that He did not come to judge. His purpose was not judgment, it was salvation. The core of Christ's being and purpose in the world was the redemption of the world.

In truth, judgment is only a side effect of that spirit of redemption, because it is that great love that saves us, and that is the standard by which we are judged.

John 3:19
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 John 1;9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

The light by which all are judged is love. "No greater love has any man than to lay down his life for his friends."

This the core statement of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He did not come to judge, He came to save through the gift of His life.

If I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me.....Ultimately the love that judges us will swallow up all judgment in mercy, all separation healed by reconciliation.

There are many verses in the Bible that reveal that before the ages are complete Jesus will have saved all.

There is no verse more compelling that His own prophecy, "If I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me".

Jesus was not confused. He was speaking of His mission. As it is written in Phil.2, He "endured the shame(of death on a cross) for the joy set before Him". That joy was summed up in His words,

"If I be lifted up......I will draw all men"

As the resurrected Lord of glory, at the end of the book of "apocalypse"(unveiling) He cries out, "Behold, I am making all things new".

Behold, Be unveiled, See what My purpose is, what I AM doing. Understand why I was lifted up, and why I am seated at the right hand of God.

And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 1 Cor 15:28

The judgment of God is only a step along the way to His ultimate purpose, the redemption of all.

It is this red veil, this "presumption of destruction" that blinds people to the truth. Our God could never rest content through an eternity where most of His children writhed in torment with no hope.

This "ultimate fear" of eternity in hell is a teaching that blinds us and binds us because within is the lie that if you dont believe it you will suffer it. It is a virus within a virus. Once you unwrap the truth of the word of God and begin to behold the truth of the salvation of all, suddenly the fear of eternal torment as a heretic is thrust upon you by people and by that same spirit of fear and condemnation that holds the world in bondage.

But the truth is, once that 'red veil" of condemnation is torn, it becomes as clear as a sunny summer day at noon. There are too many witnesses to ignore. Too many verses that make no sense in any other paradigm that of the "restoration of all things prophesied by all God's holy prophets since the world began"(Acts 3:19)

The disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven upon their detractors. Jesus reproved them saying, "You know not what spirit you are of".

What spirit would bind billions of souls in eternal torment?

Certainly not the Spirit of Christ.

Jesus prophesied, "If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me".

This was the joy that held Him upon the cross of His suffering.

This was God's plan, from the beginning.

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Col.1:20

Father, I pray the "red veil" will be torn and all will come into the revelation of God's purpose in Christ.

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Eph 1;9-11

in Numbers ch 4 it speaks of God's camp  being on the move[I like to picture it as 'LOVE IN MOTION"] red and blue cloths cover

His temple arrangements....I see red as atonement blood and the blue as the ten commandments..which togather make purple=

the ROYAL COMMANDMENTS of love God with your entire being and your fellow man as yourself.

the veil over the ark of the covenant[which contained the 'word of God' was covered in black ......symbolizing that the testimony/

prophecy of the 'word of God" is not by personal interpretation.........

commandments alone without atonement of Christ=law unfulfilled........ with red blood of atonement=Christ fulfilling

law[royal] love for God and love of brother's as himself.

I am reminded of your dream EW when you disputed with those who said 'it's blue..it's blue" and you told them it's RED.....

law to condemn/put to death without mercy[commandments] blue...and red/atonement blood.

IMO
The simple human understanding of cause and effect becomes a veil.
We can try to take what we see on a daily bases and make some spiritual sense of it.
It really makes sense that there would be some kind of ultimate punishment.
The flesh says why should I try to be good It is hard work being good.
If in the end all bad guys and good guys end up in heaven, that's not fair.

For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a]for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 "About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.' 5 So they went.
"He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, 'Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?'
7 "'Because no one has hired us,' they answered.
"He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard.'
8 "When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.'
9 "The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 'These who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'
13 "But he answered one of them, 'I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'
16 "So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

Can you imagine the ETer talking to Jesus and telling Jesus that Jesus was mistaken
when he went to the cross because of the joy set before him.

Jesus thought that he was going to save all of humanity.

They would have to break the news to Christ that the joy set before him  wasn't real.
Maybe God could of done better, by calculating in the depravity of Man.
What could be done so that all men be saved?

Perhaps the red veil among Christians is that they have seen only that the blood was spilled, and not the awesome, endless reconciling power of it.

When I was pulled aside for meetings about my new doctrine in my old church, I was talking to someone who graduated from a Christian university. I asked him if he thought that God can get whatever he wants. He really struggled with that. He said yes, but when he met with my friend the next day, he said no. We were amazed at how such a simple thing can become confusing and uncertain under ET.

dajomaco

Was there any part of the humanity, of Jesus, that required Jesus to have faith.
Did Jesus overcome.Did he have any portion of a red veil.
When he was risen from the dead did he see himself differently?

Seth

I think Jesus is and was the firstborn and head of the Elect. He was given his faith and his power and his sinlessness as an act of God.

eaglesway

I believe everything Jesus did required faith. His faith was His victory, the means by which He overcame, having been tempted in all things as a man, yet without sin.
The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

dajomaco

As we require faith in Christ.
Did he require faith that if he went to the cross, we would be on the other side to Love him.
Was our love for him any part of the joy set before him.

dajomaco

For just as through one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.

Did Adam choose to be disobedient?
Did Jesus choose to be obedient?

Adam had no idea that the results of what he had done would bring death to all of humanity.

Did Jesus know that he would bring life to all of humanity?
In order to have faith you must block out doubt.
Was part of the doubt he had to overcome , be that all men be saved .

I believe Jesus knew His mission was to save the whole world, but I believe He had to walk in moment to moment faith. I do not believe He was given faith for the whole mission. I think He learned obedience through the things He suffered on a moment to moment, day to day basis. This is why I think He went out early to pray and stayed up late also waiting for a word, watching for a signal, praying for faith- and I believe that was His teaching and example that we as disciples are meant to learn.

I believe His joy was realized in every seed sown, every eye opened, every broken heart healed.

Moment by moment,
Hour by hour
Abide in His presence
Rest in His power
And as the blessing
Rains down from above
Walk in the Spirit
Walk in His love.

Jesus says Judge what is right ....

Discerning= having or showing good judgment:

Having  faith is  what God gives to    exercise   , try it out , see what works   and what does not work   , just like little children  whom lack fear   have  to learn first

If I touch that hot stove I will be hurt  , and was told not to touch it for my own good and yet  learn though the experience   along with being   told   what is right

and to learn to discern what is flesh is flesh and what is spirit   is spirit and learn what spirit is good and what spirit is evil    showing  good judgment

It starts within us ,  when Jesus said ,''Make the tree good and its fruit good   or make the tree   corrupt and its fruit corrupt, '' A  TREE IS KNOWN [SHOWING ]  by its fruit ''     good or evil

We  cannot begin to know anything  , till  our own tree  of knowledge of good and evil is   dealt with first       and   the struggle begins

Trying to   keep a spiritual law of God by our own    carnal minds  and they do not ever   agree ...  this battle   is within and what many fail to understand  its the power an principality    that can only be    won is JESUS CHRIST IN YOU  ,   this growing in truth and grace is the same way He overcome the world though His cross     and we follow Him in the same manner

By reading the scriptures and  How He done it and    go on to experience these things in our own  walk in the Spirit     , because walking it out in the flesh is failure   every  time and every thing  and every way ,,,, I do believe that example was the scribes Pharisees and hypocrites      , they tried to  walk in the   spirit of self preservation        and failed the test   as seeing this as an earthly kingdom and could not see past it .

Being as you shared John the  vail of the red    ...  flesh and blood has never inherited    Gods kingdom ,  only suffering     and  violence   &  death .

Jesus is the reward  !!

Let the life-giving waters flow, brother! :dsunny:

It is undeniable that Jesus' purpose was to save.  God apparently went to a lot of effort so that Jesus would ask that his enemies be forgiven at Calvary.  How can we conclude that God denies His son's fervent prayer unless He cuts off His own right hand?  Far be it from Him.  To know the son is to know the father.

Also, good point re the virus within a virus of the hell doctrine.  I tested the water re universal salvation at fellowship tonight (at a small Baptist Church) with the visiting Salvation Army speaker.  The suggestion was rebuked as a dangerous heretical liberal notion adopted by Jehovah's Witnesses that had resulted in at least one person he knew becoming apostate!  I was in effect warned that the path of universalist doctrine leads to hell.  So I got my first real taste of this insidious error in action!  A touch of resistance, but it's early days.

And as for the fear of God, sure we should be afraid because to pray can overwhelm us with grief and grace.  Let's pray that the red veil be pierced with the sword of the true Gospel!

Ben..as far as I know Jw's do not believe in the salvation of all men. They do believe that after Armagheddon.....there will be

a resurrection of those in all generations on the earth, back to the earth, who have not had the opportunity to hear the jw's 'gospel'

all who had previously heardit and rejected it would not be resurrected.they being totally annhilated/judged etc.

depending on how much progress such resurrected one make/and adhering to the jw's rules/ways of living...there would be

a final 'testing' at the end of the 1000 yr reign. LOF total annhilation.   Also if any resurrected one's did not 'tow the line' of jw's

their organization would execute them during the 1000 yr reign.  I heard elder's begrudging the fact that they did not have

the authority to do this [put to death] now..d/t the estableshed governmental systems that restrained them.

so,presently, when they disfellowship someone[say they celebrate a birthday] they are considered 'dead'

they look at their preaching work[ministry/door to door] as offering an olive leaf..that if you reject..and do not repent before

armegheddon..is also a judgement unto eternal death/annhilation.

....the opportunity of accepting their 'gospel' for those resurrected who had not previously had opportunity to accept it........

must have been construed in the speaker's mind..as opportunity to repent after death...but the salvation of all is not their doctrine.

So I guess the Salvos brother I spoke with was in hard denial mode, and used JW association as a short cut put-down - Did you know that we are closet JWs and apostates on the sure road to perdition?. :flamebreath:  Maybe he thought I was trying to make him redundant. Seems hell is a bit of an industry in the Church.

et and ed has been very lucrative[judas priests/now Judas kept the moneybag and used to help himself from it when he wanted]

Jesus prophesied, "If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me".

This was the joy that held Him upon the cross of His suffering.

Eph 1;9-11

Amen, eaglesway.

Love never fails.
