Didn't really know where to post this?

I was wondering if anyone had thought about what this verse is saying?
Col. 3:11) Bottom of verse.  {"but Christ IS ALL AND IN ALL".}

Here it is in the Concordant.  {"but all and in all is Christ."}
This seems to say that Christ is already at this time in all. Isn't that wonderful!! If Christ is in all how will anyone be punished forever in a burning hell?

Hi Charlotte.  We're buddies and we agree most of the time :): I sometimes wonder how much and what I don't understand about it, but I believe the context of the passage is talking about believers.  It indicates it's to those who are the elect, as he says in the earlier verse, "who are God's chosen people" (vs. 12).  Those, as he also says (vs. 1) already "raised in Christ", i.e., have been given faith to believe on Jesus as Savior, passed from death to life, new creation, etc...not the whole world..YET.  For every knee must bow and every tongue confess Jesus.  The mass of humanity has not as yet done that, and most are labeled by scripture as children of the devil.  In my understanding, to pass from that to a child of God means "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" Jn. 1:12.

I do believe all have a spark of God since He's Creator, He gave all a spirit, a breath.  But in my understanding there must be a new creation through faith in His name, as only He draws each one and gives faith to believe. Blessings to you dear friend.

p.s.  without looking it right now, Paul talks about a time at the consummation (in a more global/universal sense, when every knee has bowed and Jesus "hands everything over" to the Father [there may be a better way of saying that]) when God becomes All in All.  IMO, that's when everyone is a believer and spiritually renewed?

I have to admit you could be right and probably are as usual :thanks:  Hadn't read this in a while. I seen this verse on another forum and those words jumped out at me. The word IS was what I was looking at. This seemed to say Christ is all in all NOW. Now that I have read the other verses and thought about it, it looks as though you are right.

Thanks for that thread. It is quite related to UR actually. I agree with James.

I read through the book of Collosians after this post by Charlotte, and I saw verse after verse referring to those who are in Christ now. Beautiful book.  Contrast that with the Corinthian church. Every person in his own order. The first-fruits now. then the consummation when ALL will be ALL IN ALL.

I think is can be a very good and uplifting discussion.  :banana:
