Sometimes "scholars" make my head spin. After auditing a couple of New Testament classes, I was more convinced they all have an agenda to promote, and many of them these days seem to teach doubt about the authenticity of the text of ancient scripture. But most of what I heard seemed just like personal opinions based on assumptions that seemed weak and blind to other perspectives. So I try to view anybody's opinion as simply their opinion regardless of whether they are called a "scholar" or expert in this or that because it seems there are always other experts with opinions that differ. But thanks for the info Rose.

I sure understand   Tom , I feel the exact  same way about     many of the so called men of God  and their agenda    and making a name for themselves   :sigh:

If God  calls them and they are chosen     ,   I cannot  judge  anyone    .

I do  like the simple Etymology    sections though , very much so and find them helpful ... :flowerred:

Jesus is the reward  !!

I agree, sis. I didn't mean to sound critical of that particular info. I agree about not judging others, and I'm into etymology too. I've also heard the Lilith myth, but I have a literal interpretation of Genesis and believe Eve is indeed the mother of all mankind. So I think the info was legit. God bless you.

What's new?
Isn't the KJV just a matter of personal opinion of it's translators? Same for all other translations including the CLV. The very reason this forum exists is because the founder/owner has a minority opiion.

Different teachings can come from improved scholarship.

I'm not saying something like "the newer, the better", but neither am I saying "the older the better".
It's only human to have certain standards to verify new things against. It's certainly good to verify all things and don't blindly swallow each and every teaching. But also keep in mind that the large majority of things are just proven idea's of mankind.
Then I mean solidly proven concepts like the earth is flat and the sun spins around the earth. Later some lunatics started to debunk those obvious truths everyone knew about....

So my point is: Brushing away everything 'odd' is just as foolish as accepting every new flavor of the week.
Finally keep PaRDeS in mind. Eve can have different meanings on different depths/layers of the Scripture.

:Peace2:
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Tom

I hear you, brother. That's why I'm amused when I hear anybody claim their version of scripture is inerrant. I think the original manuscripts were inspired by God, but they're not around anymore. And I think all the translations we have of the copies are imperfect as are commentaries. I think we just have to keep an open mind about anything we see or hear.

I  liked this part because if   all things come out of the WORD /JESUS CHRIST

showing the firstborn from the dead    that come out of eve   the  mother of all the living   that dies , we have the flood and    I know out of our own Chaos      and  lives  when we are overcome with sorrow   and wretchedness   , emptiness   and so much lack and poor choices    ,      we Do call upon the name of the Lord   this is how most,,,,, including me,,,  got   saved in the first place

and also
for me this was an interesting study and I did not even  read the Lilith    rebuttal at all    but looked at the other     pages  , some was  way over my head and some was  curious    to say the least ..

  Colossi ans 1

16For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him.

17He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

18He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.

כל־הי
— 21.1 Kal Hay; All Life —
The phrase Kal Hay or 'All Life' occurs here:
Gen 3:20
Now the man called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all life.
→ Eve was not the mother of all people; she was the mother of all life. Eve is the biosphere.

Gen 8:21
And the Lord smelled the soothing aroma; and the Lord said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy all life, as I have done."
→ This passage comes from the Noah story, when God flooded the whole earth and two or seven of every kind of animal were kept in the Ark while all the rest perished. All life perished.

Job 12:10
In whose hand is the soul of all life, and the breath of all-flesh of man?
→ Here we have the phrase 'all life' to encompass mankind, making it obvious that with all life all living things are meant.

Job 28:21
Thus [wisdom] is hidden from the eyes of all life; and concealed from the birds of the sky
→ Wisdom can not be observed by any living thing that has eyes. Even the view of a bird in flight doesn't give an advantage.

Job 30:23
For I know that Thou wilt bring me to death. And to the house of meeting for all life
→ All living things share a common fate: they will all die.

Psalm 143:2
And do not enter into judgment with Thy servant, for in Thy sight all life is not-just.
→ On several occasions in the Bible we are told that the whole of creation has fallen. All life, not just human life, is not-just.

Psalm 145:16
Thou dost open Thy hand, and dost satisfy the desire of all life.
→ God takes care of all living creatures, not only humans (Matt 6:26).

I know that site for quite a while. While fault can be found in everythings this guy's site is well thought out. Not just "let write an article on a rainy sunday afternoon" type of site.
