Rev 1:20  The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

So what happens to the seven angels? Do we here about them again in Revelation?

Yes, for each message is "To the Angel of the Church of "X" write...". Why not "to the church"? Why are the messages to the Angels of the Church?

Where else do we see seven angels in Revelation?

Rev 8:2  And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
and...
Rev 15:6  And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

But who are these Angels, these Messengers of God?
1Co 6:2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1Co 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

The word "angel" is also the word for messenger. In Daniel it is written, "And those who lead the many to righteousness will shine like the stars of heaven".
If you read what was written in the seven letters, you begin to see a pattern. For instance, "you allow that false prophetess Jezebel to teach my people to commit fornication and eat meat sacrificed to idols.", or, "You hate the doctrine of the Nicolaitans which I also hate", or "Except you repent I will remove your Lampstand from its place."

Jesus need not write letters to angels. They are as the breaths of God and they go where He wills like winds or flames.

The letters, imo, are written to the presbyteries(elders/shepherds) of the churches. Who tolerates false teachers? Angels?

That is unlikely imo.

Men being referred to as Angels:
Psa 103:17  But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
Psa 103:18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Psa 103:19  The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
Psa 103:20  Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
Psa 103:21  Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
Psa 103:22  Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

From EW Post: "The letters, imo, are written to the presbyteries(elders/shepherds) of the churches. Who tolerates false teachers? Angels?"

That is what I am saying, that the elders/shepherds are being referred to as the angels being written to. The messengers of God's word:
Rev 2:1  Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write;
Rev 2:8  And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write;
Rev 2:12  And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write

etc...

From EW Post: ... In Daniel it is written, "And those who lead the many to righteousness will shine like the stars of heaven".

Rev 1:20  The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand,  The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches:

Are not the saints clothed in white robes, washed in the blood of Jesus?
Rev 15:6  And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

What scriptures say that Angels are appointed to judge?

But the saints are appointed to judge:
1Co 6:2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1Co 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Mat 22:30  For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Yes, if you are saying the angels being written to are the elders/shepherds- it appears we agree :o)

I probably should have expounded more on what I was trying to express.

What I was getting at was that the Seven Angels of Revelation 1-3, the Church Angels being the righteous one's of the churches (the elders as well as the faithful), may be the same Seven Angel's issuing forth the Trumpet judgments, as it is given to the saints to judge:

1Co 6:2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1Co 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

In the context of Revelation, imo seven may not represent an actual number, so much as that it is signifying the "last", or the fulness, just as the Seventh day of creation contained the fulness of the previous six days.

Anyway, I was looking at the trumpet judgments and how that would relate to the saints judging the world and the angels, and I couldn't really tie-in any correlation to what the judgments were implying. I don't think they are literal, but representative.

One that always stumbles me is the 1/3 thing. The best I can tell is it represents 1/3 of man, namely the flesh part being smitten, or destroyed.

Revelation continues to be allusive. Although I think I understand bits and pieces, it is really seeing through a dark glass darkly!

Yet, not all of the messeger's were approved as righteous. Jesus was saying, "I am He that weighs the reins and the hearts" and "Let him who has ears to hear hear", and "Except you repent......"- in some cases dire circumstances of kolassis for disobedience....actually, in most cases(5 out of the seven, and one called dead, and synagogue of Satan) :o)

also note that the Revelations was written to a particular group--it was unto the 7 churches ---and all those that were in them

this is why it said to show these things unto my servants(those within the 7 churches at that time)things which must shortly come to pass

those things containded in Revelations were things that the 7 churches was gonna be a witness unto when they happened

Revelations was written unto the 7 churches--but for us all to read about and learn from

Im coming from the preterist view on these comments also   :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

actually literally the seven churches was that of asia minor in that day and time--we weren't there

its a personel letter to them telling them the things that will befall them(things which must shortly come to pass)

these things were coming--judgement was coming--that's why he told  most of the 7 to repent--or else

those 7 churches are not even existence any longer.. :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

These churches were prototypical of churches throughout this age and the things written to them have been living annd active and sharper than any two-edged sword through out the age until now.

"Angel" in the New Testament is always from the word (#32) "angellos" - "messenger" and then of course is Hebrews 1:7 "and unto the messengers, indeed, He saith, `Who is making His messengers spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire;' " a quote of Ps 104:4

..or Job 38:1-7

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
...."Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?"

Cross ref Job 1:6,7 -
" And the day is, that sons of God came in to station themselves by Jehovah, and there doth come also the Adversary in their midst.
7 And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Whence comest thou?' And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, `From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down on it.'

In the Old Testament the word is #4397 - "malak" - "from an unused root, to dispatch as a deputy.. a messenger, esp of God, i.e. an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher)

There is one plural of angel (Luke 20:36 - "nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.") which comes from another word (New Testament) #2465 "issagellos" - "like an angel"..
.......................................................

Young's Literal Translation:

Rev 7:1-3
- "And after these things I saw four messengers, standing upon the four corners of the land, holding the four winds of the land, that the wind may not blow upon the land, nor upon the sea, nor upon any tree;
2 and I saw another messenger going up from the rising of the sun, having a seal of the living God, and he did cry with a great voice to the four messengers, to whom it was given to injure the land and the sea, saying,
3 `Do not injure the land, nor the sea, nor the trees, till we may seal the servants of our God upon their foreheads."

Revelation 8:1-6
- "And when he openeth the seventh seal, there came silence in the heaven about half-an-hour,
2 and I saw the seven messengers who before God have stood, and there were given to them seven trumpets,
3 and another messenger did come, and he stood at the altar, having a golden censer, and there was given to him much perfume, that he may give [it] to the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar that [is] before the throne,
4 and go up did the smoke of the perfumes to the prayers of the saints out of the hand of the messenger, before God;
5 and the messenger took the censer, and did fill it out of the fire of the altar, and did cast [it] to the earth, and there came voices, and thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
6 And the seven messengers who are having the seven trumpets did prepare themselves that they may sound;"

Revelation 1:20
- "the secret of the seven stars that thou hast seen upon my right hand, and the seven golden lamp-stands: the seven stars are messengers of the seven assemblies, and the seven lamp-stands that thou hast seen are seven assemblies."
....................................

also Young's Literal -
Daniel 9:21
- "yea, while I am speaking in prayer, then that one Gabriel, whom I had seen in vision at the commencement, being caused to fly swiftly, is coming unto me at the time of the evening present."

Luke 1:19
- "And the messenger answering said to him, `I am Gabriel, who have been standing near before God, and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to proclaim these good news to thee,"

Luke 1:26,27
- "And in the sixth month was the messenger Gabriel sent by God, to a city of Galilee, the name of which [is] Nazareth, to a virgin, betrothed to a man, whose name [is] Joseph, of the house of David, and the name of the virgin [is] Mary."

The churches are so much more. They are patriarchs. Just compare the first church to Adam, etc
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

micah7:9

The seven churches are one church (imo?)
1.   Jesus says that the seven messengers and the seven churches are all, "...in My right hand..." (Rev. 1:20). ONE hand—they are all ONE.

2.   "These things say He that...walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks [addressed to Epheus, but for ALL SEVEN CHURCHES]" (Rev. 2:1).

3.   "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto...[unto WHOM? Unto Ephesus only? No, read it] ...unto the churches" [ALL SEVEN CHURCHES]" (Ver. 7).

God wants ALL the churches to hear what He addresses to Ephesus. And He wants Ephesus to hear what He addresses to Smyrna, "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches" (Ver. 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22). All the churches are to hear what is spoken to ALL the other churches.
