in Mat.  mark   Luke   John  --Christianity rolls through these Gospels with all kind of ideas and doctrines--but is there anything to let us know to whom they were unto.

For Yahshua said himself in mat.15:24   that he was not sent but unto the Lost sheep of the house of Israel

Yahshua in mat. 10:5  told his apostles to go not unto the gentiles but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel

So Yahshua came in the flesh or rather was sent by the Father for only the jewish people in his earthly life
His apostles were only speaking unto the jewish people

Everything that Yahshua spoke in these 4 gospels was unto the jewish people only--with the 1 exception of the gentile woman who came to him--notice he never went to not 1 gentile.

Every judgement and warning--and all that he taught was unto the jewish people.

Even john 3:16 says he was sent by the father--mat. 15 above says that with Yahshua's own words that he was sent(by the father) to the jews only
John 3:16 related unto the world of the jewish people(not the entire globe)

even when unbelievers was mentioned--it was referring unto the unbelieving jews.

When reading the 4 gospels in this light and keeping these on the forefront of your mind--you will understand the 4 gospels better and see it in a whole different light .

OK, you went there, didn't you?  And man you went with both feet!   :LH:

I'm not prepared to say "everything" and "nothing", and I do think anything He said has at the very least spiritual application to us (even if not literal);  i.e., we can learn from it, His words are Life, etc.    Even though I'll admit it's only something I think of and don't really know how to do effectively, I do agree it's an important issue, something to put in the "mix", at least being aware there's a "question" there that needs to be examined and attempted to rightly divide (understand/apply).   :2c: :2c: :2c:

The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

yes I agree that all scripture is for us and for our profit---but in a literal way and unto whom it was written unto--jews only

like writing a love letter to your wife--it is intended for only her and her alone  :dsunny:
the 4 gospels was unto the jews and jews alone  :dsunny:

he came to save his people from the impending wrath that was coming upon them---when he said if you don't believe on me--you shall die--he was talking only to the jewish people--the Wrath fell at AD 70--and history records that not 1 Christian(jewish believer) was left in the city of Jerusalem when it was destroyed--they fled to the mountains to their safe haven   :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

Seth

I think when Jesus said that if you do not believe you shall die, he was referring to the carnal mind and how he can.save from the carnal mind which is death. The Gentiles have inherited Israel and also therefore the ethic he taught theml. So Jesus has brought that salvation to them as well and his directions to believers been inherited.

Seth

I think if Israel as a house. Some people leave the house and others come in. Jesus is the landlord so he sets the contract for the tenant s as laid out in the 4 gospel s and beyond. But salvation is always unto the house of Israel. The goal is.to bring everyone into the house.

I see where you are coming from--but Yahshua was talking to the people of his time in a literal way--was talking unto the unbelieving jews---those jews who did not receive him were destroyed in the destruction of the city and temple at AD 70  just as he proclaimed they would be  :dsunny:

Seth

That's an interpretation. I don't deny its possibility in some scriptures, but I think Christ always spoke above the literal while not necessarily denying it. I don't believe that all admonitions to them were about 70AD, because the apostles made many of the same admonitions to the Church...as though they have been inherited.

im just saying of the 4 gospels--none else

all in the 4 gospels was unto the jewish people--Yahshua said so with his own words---hard to deny  the master's own words
if he is sent only to a specific people---then that is the people he spoke unto in all his teachings and warnings.

His own received him not--then the gospel was given to the gentiles starting with peter first and then paul being chosen for the gentiles  :dsunny:

Seth

Yes, that's how it started. In the four Gospels he was only speaking to the house of Israel according to the flesh. That is what you are saying and I agree. What I am adding is how his words have not passed away. HIS words are still applicable to those who have since inherited the house of Israel.

yes the church had some warnings---if the jewish believers drew back willfully chose to Sin--getting back under the authority of the levitical priesthood with its animal sacrifices and such---then they would perish just as the unbelievers would--if believers became as the drunkards--then they would perish just as the drunkards

if you are too drunk to walk or think while in the city--when it became surrounded with armies--it was too late to get out--they were killed with the unbelievers if they had done such things  :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

Wrong. It's ALL the word of God to ALL, except and unless He made it specifically to the Jews. The teachings of Jeus the Messiah were carried on by the apostles to the whole world. Even the heralds described His life as "Good news of good will to all."

Paul is the apostle of the nations (Gentiles).. His evangel (gospel) of the grace of God is for us today.

Ac 13:2 Now, at their ministering to the Lord and fasting, the holy spirit said,  "Sever, by all means, to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

Ro 11:13 Now to you am I saying, to the nations, in as much as, indeed, then, I  am the apostle of the nations, I am glorifying my dispensation,

1Ti 2:7 for which I  was appointed a herald and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the nations in knowledge and truth.

2Ti 1:11 into of which I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher of the nations.

Eph 3:2 since you surely hear of the administration of the grace of God that is given to me for you,

Ga 1:1 Paul, an apostle (not from men, neither through a man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, Who rouses Him from among the dead),

Ga 1:11 For I am making known to you, brethren, as to the evangel which is being brought by me, that it is not in accord with man.
Ga 1:12 For neither did I  accept it from a man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Ga 2:7 But, on the contrary, perceiving that I have been entrusted with the evangel of the Uncircumcision,
Ga 2:8 according as Peter of the Circumcision (for He Who operates in Peter for the apostleship of the Circumcision operates in me also for the nations),

eaglesway

Gal 1:6  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Two stewardships, not two gospels. One gospel, introducing Jew and Gentile into the one new man, under one head, one Lord, one ecclesia, one body- the fulness of Him who fills all in all.

This is all so very interesting      and making some great  points across the board ..

:2c: yes,     Seeing  an allegory of sorts Eph 2

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
And he has canceled the hatred by his flesh and the law of commands in his commandments, that for the two, he would create in his Person one new man, and he has made peace.

11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands—

12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,

15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might [n]make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, 16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross,
  • by it having put to death the enmity.

17 And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; 18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the [p]saints, and are of God's household

,    20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy [q]temple in the Lord,

22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

the  First would be last and the Last first and what DID JESUS SAY   ?
MATT21;31"Which of these two did the will of his father?" They were saying to him, 'The first.' Yeshua said to them, "Amen, I say to you, that Tax Collectors and prostitutes precede you to the Kingdom of God."

I do understand how  Jesus  spoke to the Jewish nation    all  those years   many parables to    the fulness of time
then God   gave the gift of Jesus Christ        to all   , yes the unbelief    of Israel   was Gods wisdom     to Fulfill  ALL THINGS IN CHRIST [ALL THE LAW ]

Jesus is the reward  !!

sheila

 yep..the one new man of the two......one spiritual jew/christ man...of the spirit of

God..and not just a natural flesh jew keeping the shadow[ritual religious worship signifying His

coming to fulfill] the natural jew becomes a spiritual jew when he accepts Christ,as does the

natural gentile who repents and accepts him

now the early congregation had the same task of threshing things out.......Paul rebuking Peter

for not 'eating/partaking' along with the gentile believers..wanting to 'eat' seperately=rebuild

that wall of seperation.

I have other sheep to bring that are not of this flock...there shall be ONE sheepfold

I understand what you are saying--but Yahshua said himself he was only sent unto the jewish people while in the flesh---im not leaving the gentiles out--scripture reveals they did also come into the fold at a later time

something written too someone is not the same as something that is for all---something written to someone is only to that person or persons--im not saying we should not follow Yahshua's teachings today at all---they are for us also.

but what I am saying is that the 4 gospels messages was originally unto the jewish people

when Yahshua and his apostles never go unto the gentiles but only unto the jews--the messages were unto them and them only at that particular time frame.

please don't misunderstand what I am saying   :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

1 Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled[a] among us,  2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us,  3 it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus,  4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed. (Luke 1:1-4)

1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,  2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,  3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
(Acts 1:1-3)

It is believed that Luke was a Gentile physician, and Theophilus was likely a Gentile too. Luke and Acts are two parts of the same account. If the four gospels are only to the Jews, why is a Gentile writing his gospel to a Gentile as part of a two part account? How can the first part be to the Jews only and the second part to everyone, if they are both addressed to the same recipient?

Also, if "something written to someone is not the same as something that is for all", then Luke and Acts would ONLY be for Theophilus, and we are ALL just 'listening in', including the Jews.

maybe I need to make what I am saying plainer------

all that Yahshua said in his flesh before he died--was unto the jews only--for he said unto the woman at the well--Salvation if of the JEWS

His apostles during his life in the flesh was sent out unto the jews only

after his death and sometime even later was when the gospel message was delivered unto the gentiles for the first time(with peter and then paul)

Maybe im being mis-understood here---what you are reading about in the 4 gospels  was  spoken by Yahshua and his apostles unto the jews

Yahshua or his apostles NOT 1 time went to a gentile at all---1 gentile came to Yahshua--and you see what he told her--but he had mercy :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

a letter written to the president from you would be strictly to the president only---but at a later time if others read it they could might see what the problems you  were dealing with and the results of what might have been done.

Hello FreeAtLast, brother!

Jesus did indeed say He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel, and as the promised Messiah, He was always going to be sent to them first. I am definitely not disputing Him going to Israel as the first step in His ministry, but it was simply the first step in Him going out to all the world.

That being said, one of my points about Luke's writing is that it is a two parter - Luke and Acts - and written by a Gentile to a Gentile. It shows the ministry of Jesus in the incarnation and then when He came back as the Holy Spirit, and continued His mission to the Gentiles also. The writer himself links the two books together, basically saying they are part one and part two, and sent them to the same recipient, Theophilus. Therefore, we are all listening in on something written to Theophilus, and both Luke and Acts are intended to have the same benefit for all readers, Jew and Gentile alike, as they are one complete story of the gospel.

Ultimately, if the words of Jesus are just for who they are spoken to, than the proclamation of Gabriel is for Mary, and angelic proclamation for the shepherds only, etc etc.

I can't read Luke and say "this is for the Jews", and then read Acts and say "this part is for me". I agree that the literal words of Jesus were physically spoken to physical Israel, and that He was first sent to them, but He well knew that His words were life, and would not pass away, and therefore had an application to all.

Here are a couple of examples:

15 "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,'[c] spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),  16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.  (Matthew 24:15-16)

Whether Jesus literally said "whoever reads", or whether Matthew wrote it in parenthesis, does not really matter. Either Jesus was speaking well knowing there would be later readers of the gospel, or Matthew was exhorting those who read.

8 She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.  9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her." (Matthew 14:8-9)

Above, Jesus states that THIS gospel would be preacher in the whole world, and that the woman's actions would be continually recounted. He is acknowledging that the words that are being said by and to Jews, are going to be just as relevant to Gentile readers later.

33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?"

34 Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?"

35 Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?"

36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."

37 Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?"

Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no fault in Him at all. (John 18:33-38)

Pilate was assuredly not a Jew, and yet we see Jesus testify before him also, speaking words of life. Are these for Pilate only? They are certainly not for Jews if they are spoken to Pilate? Jesus also says that the cause for which He has come into the world is to bear witness to the truth, which is what He is doing before a Gentile just as He did before the Jews.

7 Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.  2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.  3 So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant.  4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving,  5 "for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue."

6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof.  7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.  8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"  10 And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick.[a] (Luke 7:1-10)

This centurion is another Gentile, and his servant is healed by Jesus, and his great faith is proclaimed also.

These are just a few examples. Sorry if this post is a bit long, brother!
