Fellowship

Hi everyone,

Glad to be here on this forum!  My name is Jordan and I live in Carlsbad, CA.  I wanted to reach out to anyone who would know a church in the San Diego area that teaches universal salvation?  I have been searching and coming up short.  After to coming to the true gospel, it is hard to keep going to my current church.  I am just praying that God will lead me to some fellowship.  Thank you!

I have to wonder if you will find a church (building) that you will feel comfortable attending.
The ones that seem to come closest to offer genuine fellowship are in home groups that share a belief in the salvation of all.
Some have told me that contact (forums) over the internet offers fellowship. I am sceptical, but it may be the next best thing. Keep searching. I am.

I am sceptical too joeteekay.  From what I get from the Word is fellowship is important (as you pointed out).  I am on the search!  God bless!

 :cloud9: Here's something you might want to be aware of with some churches who call themselves "universalists". What they are inclusive of, is everything, including pagan witchcraft religions, is everything is "ok" with them, and they don't build on a foundation of the Word. I've come across a couple of them like that, and they have an "anything goes" mentality.

Just because God loves all and is going to save all, and forgives all, doesn't mean He's ok with anything and everything, once you come to Him and can read for yourself what He's about and expects. We are accountable for what we know, and once we are no longer in ignorance, as a Father, He has a right to expect growth to come about.

As a parent, I didn't expect the same things from my 2 year old as I did when he was 12 or 20. I didn't love him any less or more, but growth and maturity have to go hand in hand. None can stay a toddler forever.

So always look for the Word as their foundation, and if it's not there, IMO you should run.  :2c:  May the Lord bless your search. Blessings....

Yeah, those churches are built on political correctness. Fundamentalists usually say that the truth will be rejected by the masses. If believing in truth means being in a minority, they should believe what we do - that Jesus is the only Way to God and that He is really, actually the Savior of all men! It's neither politically correct nor religiously correct.

Thanks Cardinal, jabcat and Graph for the advice!  I don't think I am going to find a brick and bolder "church" anytime soon.  I need to just keep praying and reading the Word and hopefully I will be part of a Bible study soon  :Pray:

Just wanted to tell you my story:

I was raised Mormon.  Great family.  Very faithful to the religion and still are.  I was about 17 years old when I denounced my faith and became an agnostic. I partied all throughout High school and through college. I researched (minor research at that) all the religions out there. They all seemed to have bits and pieces of Mormonism. Which Mormons always say they have the "whole true gospel", so in my head, I thought after I get out my wild side, I will go back to Mormonism (since my family were so "good")! But in all reality, Mormonisim teaches a different gosepl...the "cart before the horse" gospel.

Anyways I meet my future Christian wife at a local bar in 2008 (haha yes you heard me) that I always went too. She rejected me at first, but after many attempts, I finally got her haha. She is the one who pointed me in the direction of the real Jesus of the bible and after 4 years of going to North Coast Church (Vista, CA), I finally submitted and accepted Jesus in my life in June 2012.

Since I gave my life to Jesus I have been studying the Word almost every day since then.  By researching Mormonism I have grown stronger in my belief in who Jesus really is. I am so thankful for that. I searched a lot in the history of Mormonism. By looking at the history, it helped to confirm the huge falsehood on their claims and beliefs. I know for a fact if any Mormon would really dig into the history, there is no way they could believe in the lie anymore. The internet is a great tool now in our time to dig up the past and find truth.

So I started to use the same research method for Christianity that I used for Mormonism. I did not like what I found. What I have found is PEGANAISM bringing their beliefs into God's Gospel! Men using their carnal ways and not using the Holy Spirit to choose their path and the path for others. I don't know if you have done any looking into this (I am sure you have) but I just got peeved to be quite honest with you. When the Holy Spirit came down at Penacost, we now had God in us to guide our path, not man:

Jeremiah 31:31-34-

31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
There it is! Straight from the Word. We accept Jesus as saviour and He will guide us down our path. Men can't show us that path.

By looking into the Greek and Hebrew languag of the bible, it all opened up to me.  Found AION meaning age not forever.  This is what brought fort the "can of worms". 

I had a lot thoughts come into my head. Isn't faith ONLY to believe in what is not seen?? No not according to scripture (Paul at Damascus and Thomas feeling Jesus' resurrected body). What is the point if EVERYONE is going to be saved?? The peace that is in me due to my belief in Jesus is worth more than anything in this life. I actually have more love for people by discovering this. I want to proclaim the Gospel even more than I did.

I love what God has been showing me. His love has been driving me full throttle. God is love (1 John 4:8). If you do anything in your walk without love it is useless to God (1 Corin. 13:1-3). That is what it is all about man. That is where I am going to stay.

Mark Twain has a great quote:
"I am aware that when even the brightest mind in our world has been trained up from childhood in a superstition of any kind, it will never be possible for that mind, in its maturity, to examine sincerely, dispassionately, and conscientiously any evidence or any circumstance which shall seem to cast a doubt upon the validity of that superstition." – Mark Twain

BUT Gods Word says it the best:

1Co 1:25-29
The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.

And...

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

I am a little fearful, but I have 100% faith God will lead me to where I need to be. God is sooooooo good to save a wretch like me!!!!!!!!!! AMEN!!
