I have been watching the oncoming tsunami of financial chaos. Certainly in Europe, it is gaining in momentum. Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Italy, Ireland and others. I have no doubt that the UK will join the list soon enough. I felt that I should make some provision for my house, such as getting our money out of the bank, storing food and medical supplies and some other things.

Then, the Holy Spirit pointed me to Psalm 91.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

Hi Jock..in the scriptures there was someone that rose up by the Holy spirit and prophesied

of a coming famine in the land...and the congregation began setting aside provisions for it.

the same spirit informed Joseph of a coming 7 yr famine..and he too...set aside provisions.

so...it is not necessarily so that such who do this are out of sync  with the will of the Father.

it is just that if you are not trusting in Him..it matters not what manner of stores you have laid up

for yourself..

do it with the mindset of distributing to others in need[share your bread] to the glory of God...

if you are not in a circumstance where you are able to  set aside anything..You can still trust in

Him to provide.

I was awakened on Dec 3 speaking this by Holy spirit....'woe...woe''''''

it has since been revealed to me it is in regard to the fall of Babylon..and the cry of the

merchants who grew rich from her luxuries....an economic collapse is very much a part of this

fall..

so..........I look to wittnessing..this very thing.........

Jock

Sheila, Thank you for your reply and I agree with what you said. I didn't mention it in my post but we are already buying enough food in order to share with others. IMO it will be a wonderful time to testify and share Christ with others.

Re:  ...coming famine...
Re:  ...wonderful time to testify and share Christ with others.

Jock and Sheila thanks so much.  Jock's OP and Sheila's reply regarding the coming famine has confirmed what the Lord has laid on my mind and heart these past several days as I see and hear and weep about the horrible destructive physical realities--financial, political upheavals, floods, hurricanes, famines... and like you, Jock, I have taken steps to prepare, to put my financial house in order, etc.,... but more than that He has shown me that the famine that believers should prepare for is the "famine of hearing the words of the Lord" so that we can in love and in truth share Christ with others.

I was given the Scripture verses, songs, commentary on Refuge, Refreshment, and Rest in Christ several days ago...but wasn't given the freedom to share until this morning when I read Jock's OP "A wonderful promise"

I usually don't share publicly "revelations or visions" that the Lord gives me regarding the end times... they usually seem to be reminders to me to pray... to intercede... this time, it really seems like I needed to go public...

Jock

Thanks Anna, for sharing your heart. Your insight about a famine of God's Word is profound and rings bells for me. The Lord wants to draw us near to Him, by faith, holding onto the things we have heard before.

It's a good time to remember that His Word is eternal and precise, we can fold into it like a warm blanket because HE is always faithful to take us all the way home.

God bless you

Jock.

re:  ...like a warm blanket

Interesting metaphor!

My thoughts on the WORD of God

WORD made flesh, Jesus CHRIST (John 1:14) Savior of ALL men (1 Tim 2:4) who died for us while we were yet sinners (Rom 5:8) (1 Cor 15:22 ...in Adam all die, in CHRIST all live) we live because He died in the flesh/shed physical blood... and many, many more Scripture verses...

LIVING WORD:  CHRIST lives in born again believers.... many Scripture verses

WRITTEN WORD: The Scriptures which testify of JESUS CHRIST from beginning to end.  John 1:1 In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God.   Rev 19:13 And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called THE WORD OF GOD.

Jock

Anna He "covers us" with His Word. I was thinking of John laying with his head on Jesus's lap. There is comfort there, rest, refuge, love. That's what I received when He gave me Psalm 91.

Blessings

Jock.

  What a beautiful thread !
was  so  blessed to read it !!!

You reminded    of    ''shodding our feet with the gospel of peace ''  this famine for the WORD OF GOD !    and Jesus feet being  observed as   GLOWING   as ''burnished bronze ''
I  noticed Jesus telling his disciples / students of  the Word    , that they were  every bit whole /clean   because of the Word  He had SPOKEN to them ......WOW!   you experessed  Anna   the Written Word and Spoken Word and Living Word [   John 14]   now the spoken Word    they were clean /whole  ..except  their feet !    this teaching of the gospel is the feet  /foot washing    that Jesus used as an example   to clean one another  , we can see an example of this in ACTS 18
showing that   Aquilla and Priscilla    were washing  Apollos  feet / teaching of  Jesus /WORD OF GOD  more perfectly /completly !!

Act 18:24 ΒΆ And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

Act 18:25   This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

Act 18:26   And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly

  the Feet
the earth is Gods footstool !     where the teaching of Jesus Christ is what will   claim the victory over  hell /grave and death  in the earth ,     as those in Jesus and Jesus in them and God  the Holy Spirit [John 14]   are also SENT  unto all the earth /our mortal bodies to dwell with us !

Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Rom 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

1Cr 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. HIS TEACHING !!

1Cr 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under [him, it is] manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

These things have  come to mind over the years   with more and more clarity ! and Thank God for this   good news!!

Jhn 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

Seems our feet get dusty with our flesh  clinging to them and its important to wash them with the pure washing of the water of the Word !! Loving Jesus  proves we are willing to  wash one anothers feet     the symbolic meaning is    most precious !!
Jesus is the reward  !!

I enjoyed your post. He truly does wash the world from our feet. It's easy to become troubled and fearful
when our feet are in that place but He washes our feet even by speaking one Word. Thank God!

Take care

Thanks Jock, I understand--

A warm blanket is a very comforting metaphor for all that Ps 91 covers.

I shared my thoughts of the Word of God because I wanted the readers to know what the Lord showed me regarding a coming famine of the hearing of the Word of God which included all three:  Word made flesh, Living Word, Written Word.

Thanks Rosered... you seem to have a way of  expanding --on a very Scriptural level-- my thoughts of the Word of God and how those thoughts are related to our daily lives...including washing of feet, bringing the good news...

How good God is... His Spirit leading us in such different ways to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Savior of all men and giving us many opportunities (such as Tentmaker forum) to share with each other what He shows us individually... till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.  Eph 4:13

Thanks to the both of you  Jock and Anna

This place is a wonderful gathering place and watering spot in a dry and dusty ol world !!
many times I just come to be  "refreshed "'   by those willing to post  and have not a thing to offer , God bless you all each and everyone  !

The Psalms hold a very special place in my own heart , its when the Lord began to comfort me personally though those scriptures   when going though a deep and dark place  ,lots of tears and questions , why, Lord ,Why ??  when I was much younger  , the Doctors  placed me on  anti depressants   and they only made me numb and  complacent .
I believe it was a time when the Lord was dealing with some inner turmoil and wresting of the soul   and   failed to trust in God the way  that was needed , but He got though  , just the same
after reading Davids    ups and downs in the Psalms  , I said to myself ,A doctor  would have put David on these things too !!  Perhaps ,only trying to help him out as well  ,

But knowing that God is so good , He showed me , God helps us in most difficult times and we   dont even know it at the time , till much later   , the Light shines in the mosty brilliant of ways    , saving our souls / lives and preserving them    for Himself and use ..
the Psalms have truly "lifted us  to higher plains   of thought and conscienseness "   in our Spiritual walk , which is walking in Love and mercy and forgiveness !

What Jesus was sent to do and show us the way to really Live in Christ as we continue   to walk this out in Christ as His feet  touching the earth !

Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

Psa 56:3   What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee

Psa 56:4  In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Psa 56:5   Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil

Psa 56:6   They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul

Psa 56:7   Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

Psa 56:8   Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

Psa 56:9   When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

Psa 56:10   In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

Psa 56:11   In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me

Psa 56:12   Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee

Psa 56:13  For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living
when it comes to God  can we not do anything but take it personally   first when He does deal with us   on a level we can  understand  though suffering and emptiness and loss ?

David shared  these same  thoughts with us   to help us  to this day so we can relate to them , as God preserved His Word !
Jesus is the reward  !!

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.  Is. 9:6,7

Hi Marie

Foot washing is something the Lord does for us. He told Peter that if he didn't accept it (Jesus washing his feet) then he would have no part with Him (Christ)

We walk in the mire of this world daily but Christ washes our feet that we may have part with Him.
(spiritual fellowship)

Hope this helps
