Seth

Here is a poem I wrote I thought I would share with you all:

Where would you say I am?
Father: Son, if I removed my hand and sent it away, where would you say I am?
Son: Here with me now.
Father: And if I removed my arms and legs and sent them away, where you would you say I am?
Son: Here with me now.
Father: And if I removed my torso and sent it away, where would you say I am?
Son: Here with me now.
Father: and if I removed my face, hair and eyes, and sent them away, where would you say I am?
Son: Here with me now.
Father: And if I removed my brain and sent it away, where would you say I am?

Lazarus Short

It feels like it's cut off in the middle, like where would your poem be if you cut off the ending and sent it away?  Try to see it as constructive criticism from a published poet.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Yes I cut it off for ambiguity. I wanted to involve the reader, to place the reader in the position to answer. I really like Rosered's response, "I would say  that your with Him in Spirit and truth  and the battle was won "

The flesh profiteth nothing. I think one of the miracles of the world is when God gives us the ability to see outside of the flesh, to have no confidence in it, to be ok in knowing that the Lord is with us even if we cannot see him. Faith is a miracle to me. It's like telling a tiger to have no confidence in his claws. It would be a wondrous thing for that to happen.

I am so glad you said that Seth !
the flesh profits nothing  till its  no more !  I do believe that  the flesh is what  we are  also taught as  '' being the vehicle ''    that wars against the Spirit  , the Spirit ''cuts the flesh''    beteen the soul /life in the flesh and Spirit     as well as'' burns it with Fire'' God is the consuming  Fire  to eat and destroy it  and the blood is let out  ,   the shedding of blood to strive against sin ...

an example    , my spirit is willing but my flesh is weak
I wanted to  babysit my grandson    whom is very colicy  and  has problems with digestion
but the constant demand on my flesh serving   his need   makes me   weary  and grumpy  , not enjoying his presence as well as I wanted too ! He is a sweet boy   whom I love and am willing to sacrifice   all this effort , but   my flesh whines and crys out all the while  , showing me  that is exactly what the children in the wilderness was doing  lacking faith and trust in God , but its putting to death my flesh  by the Spirit   cutting away at it piece by piece  , like your  poem  ,  That is one reason    why'' I  got it ''lol    ''     been a rough week and not being able to  be here  for a few days , oh I feel ashamed  of not being able to  do this  thing in the joy of the Spirit , but we had some moments of pure and  clean  fun bonding , making it worth more than any physical   gift/reward  !
just shows me how rotton and selfish that flesh fights against the Spirit . :sigh:
  I have another example  ,
when   faith works are done ,  by the Spirit of God , you do some things  as  kindness towards others    , its a giving spirit  that   takes care of a need and the flesh   gets to use it , and the reminder  of that person giving you this when you use it  shows  just how much Gods Spirit is taking care of you  not only providing for the flesh , because thats all it knows , but the Spiritual reminder of     God is taking care of your every need  .     also can bring joy or shame depending on what attitude    way of thinking  , gracful or unthankful    you have towards that person or  God !!   you will  understand being ''connected to the Spirit of God ''    or alone in your misery    to me
been there and done that  all to often  , this is a confesson of sorts   , of how much the flesh gets in the way and quenches the SPIRIT    , to me thats the struggle when you  know there is something not  quite right  at all times   and the troubles   are evident /proof
Jesus is the reward  !!

Poems can be so thought-provoking-- I have been reading this thread with great interest as it opened a train of thought very unlike any of the above (which BTW I thoroughly appreciated in light of my own struggles with the flesh...)

My thoughts have been very much on a friend who is undergoing surgery this very day=liposuction/laser type removal.  He's brilliant, highly accomplished in his work field, generous, kind, gracious.... yet has such low self-esteem because of the "fat"... he's hoping to increase his self-esteem...he's hoping to feel better about himself.

as I started reading your poem Seth... I thought about how many of us determine   our self-worth in terms of the outer man... the things seen by the physical eye...
And I was exhorted to pray for my friend... and yes, to discuss with him the importance of the "inner man"...     ambiguity?  very interesting strategy!!!

Seth

Yes, I think it is part of our nature to associate so closely with our flesh, because, after all, we are made of flesh. To go beyond that, to me is a remarkable thing. To start off as flesh, then to move our minds into spiritual thinking, and spiritual mindset and total lack of confidence in the flesh, that is where I think Christ is carrying our souls and changing our minds.

Paul said that we are no longer in the flesh if we have the Spirit of God dwelling in us. It's a seeming contradiction, but it only goes to show us how much the Spirit guides us to begin to understand that our flesh does not define who we are, in that the flesh is not the final word in who we are, that we are growing up and someday we will have spiritual bodies and flesh no more.

I know all about struggles with weight. I have that struggle too, I go up and down all the time. Blessings to your friend  :HeartThrob:

Seth, you spoke the words of my heart. So many seek to understand yet to me it is giving up understanding and just trusting. Father and Jesus both told it is okay to lack understanding. Truth can and is given that becomes part of one so interwoven yet not understood at all. I read the most amazing book ever: "Discover the Power within You" by Eric Butterworth. I found myself in that book  :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:   Truly, just about every sentence was filled with gems of knowledge that I KNEW but didn't know that I did. I can not explain it, though is it any difference than a five yr old girl rejecting Hell fire eternal torture as a lie? I knew it was false, so much so that I could never even consider the possibility. I was only five.

Love, Trust and Faith is all that Father asks of us; we just have to move the "I" well out of the way.

Oh, I understood the poem perfectly with its Spiritual slant and liked it a lot. Take away everything physical and the Spiritual will always remain.

Thanks Julie. I am really glad you all got something from it.  :HeartThrob:

Seth, Rosered, I truly believe that because of our prayers, blessings -- my friend is already experiencing great peace, mercy, grace in his inner most being -- our heavenly Father is so ready to answer the prayers, wishes of His children begotten from above... one of the best things about being a member here at TMForum, is that there are always those who pray for those in need, those who bless those in need of blessings... May His peace, joy, light, life reign supreme in your hearts and minds, anna274

yours as well sister Anna !

Blessings   to the Lamb and Father for blessing us all   :girlheart:

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do

Hbr 4:14 ΒΆ Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Hbr 4:15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin

Hbr 4:16   Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

Rev 7:10   And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
Rev 7:11   And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,

Rev 7:12   Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen

Rev 7:13   And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?

Rev 7:14   And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Rev 7:15   Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them

Rev 7:16   They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat

Rev 7:17   For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

To me ,  the  tribulation is the birthing pains of being born again
some scriptures  '  LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.
Isa 26:17   Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD
Jesus is the reward  !!
