The Comma Johanneum, also known as the Comma Johannine, is a textual variant in regards to 1 John 5:7-8. I have always wondered how people can reconcile verses being added to the Word. Don't added things make anyone wonder why those words were added when Yahweh plainly says :

Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take anything from it"

1 John 5:7-8 Is the Holy Grail for the Trinitarians. Heaven help the one who dares suggest that these words: (the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.) were added to promote a false belief.

The Roman Empire established the doctrine of the Trinity for the sake of political expediency long after the scriptures were already the doctrine of believers. Words were added to (1 John 5:7) in Latin manuscripts in an attempt to verify the Trinity, but that deception has been discredited by earlier Greek manuscripts which do not contain that adulterated verse. Nowhere in the Hebrew or Greek scriptures does it say that the Father is a "person" co-equal with his son and his holy spirit. The Trinity is simply the philosophy of man, and it dishonors the Father. The ancient Jews differed from the other nations by believing in one God. Despite the fact that Trinitarians claim they also do, the Trinity originated from pagan polytheism. The Trinity does not represent the God of the Hebrews, and it should not represent the God of Christians.

You all have no idea how many years I spent wondering who I was supposed to pray to, together with answers to the question such as, "It doesn't matter because they are all the same".
Coming to the realization that The Father, His Son, and the Spirit of God are all separate was such a relief !!!!!  The concept of the trinity and trying to wrap my mind around it about drove me crazy.  Thank you Father for showing me truth.  :dsunny: :dsunny: :dsunny:

I pray to the Father in the name of the Son, and I know I'm one in spirit with both of them (John 17:22,23).

God is spirit (John 4:24). The power that flowed through Christ to heal the sick and rouse the dead was the spirit of God, the holy spirit, the power of the Father, working through Christ. That is the same power that roused Christ from the dead (Romans 6:4). That is the same power that saved me from the darkness and brought me into the light of love. God is light (1 John 1:5). God is love (1 John 4:16).

"seeing that out of Him and through Him and for Him is all: to Him be the glory for the eons! Amen!" (Romans 11:36)

Thank you for posting this verse it is called in Hebrew the "shema". This verse is key to the earliest Christians who were Jews. Jewish children are taught the shema from a very early age. The word "hear" is translated shema and although the ten commandments are important they are not preceded by the word shema but Deut. 6:4 or Mark 12:29 the verse begins with the shema, "listen".

I agree leli. We covered the whole trinity thing a while back, we surely don't need to revisit that topic. Although it has caused me to dig deeper and deeper into that subject and I have found some great material at :  http://christianmonotheism.com/

I highly suggest the two videos on that page they are both good but the longer (30min) one is so good I have watched it multiple times. These guys have done their homework.

I'll try to watch them DuWayne.  I have to deal with a yet "unbelieving wife" and have to keep the peace.  I never want her to feel neglected because of my beliefs. Or to throw "Is this the Bible you believe in?" at me, misinterpreting, as usual, something I do even for her own good.
