Whenever christian universalists or atheists rightfully criticize the religious nonsense the damnationists and fundmentalists spread and one of the things they like to say is if you got to know God you would not think the way you do and says the things you says about God. And my response is to that is if your god really is the evil monster that sends people to eternal torment for any reason I would never want to get to know him and also that is like saying if I got to know Hitler and have a good relationship with him then I would not say the bad things about him committing the Holocaust.

I bet you got kicked out of many churches for saying that.  :dontknow:
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Ironic I guess. I guess I should stop telling eternal torture people that if they only knew God better, understood his ways, his love, his position and power, etc. then they would understanf the absurdity of their position. :Peace2:

I just say the god of church doctrine is not the living God of scripture who created all with love and will reconcile all with love.

This is what got me started on my journey to know truth.  After leaving a church with a perverted gosple that teaches annihilation and a host of deceptions, I heard one Former say that she couldn't know the depths of God's love without understanding His holy justice and hatred for sinners.  That didn't resonate well with me, so set out to prove that annihilation was not part of the deception.  Hence, I started running into this Universal thing which I had never even heard of....didn't know there was another option.  Took me awhile to be open to it, but once the Holy Spirit revealed the truth of it all, this is the ONLY option I see now.  Oh the joy of it all!  (oh, according to one friend I am letting the devil deceive me with emotions)  So sad.

The love of God is more than just emotion. I feel sorry for folks who haven't been given the revelation of universal reconciliation. It's written in the same bible they're reading whatever version it is right there in Colossians 1:20. That states the whole reason Christ died on the cross, but church doctrine invalidates the word of God in the minds of church folks because they've been programmed to believe a lie perpetrated through mistranslation. Gehenna is Gehenna not hell, and eonian is eonian not eternal.

I became aware of universal reconciliation when I got mysteriously bounced from a die hard King James site to another site with information about it. Then I spent a lot of time searching the Web for information about it to try to disprove it. The more I read the more I began it think it must be true. I was mad the church never told me about it, but then I realized that's because it threatens the worldly power of the church to control it's followers with fear. That's why I have nothing to do with the church anymore.

It is a great relief to deprogram yourself from church doctrine. There is real peace and joy in knowing the truth about God, and it makes you love God even more. I've been persecuted the most by church folks since I've seen the light. It's amazing how hateful they can get when you try to share the truth with them. I think we just have to keep sharing the truth in love though. Truth wasn't popular when Christ spoke it either, but like he said, "you will know the truth, and the truth will be making you free." (John 8:32)

That sounds like Knoch's story...

I've think anybody who has been taught church doctrine must doubt universal reconciliation when they first hear about it because it contradicts everything the church stands for, but it is actually the church that contradicts the word of God. Some folks probably don't want to be bothered with seeking the truth elsewhere and would rather just let the church dictate to them what to believe. I left the Roman Catholic Church when I was young because I knew something wasn't right even though I didn't know what the truth was back then. I became a seeker of truth, and I looked into a lot of things that were deceptively disguised as truth, but I eventually became aware of what was really happening. I look back on all that now and realize it was just a learning experience that actually proved to be beneficial in the long run because now I'm more discerning of deception which seems to be most effective when disguised as coming from God. That's why I believe the church is Satan's most effective deception, but God reveals the truth to those who seek it.
