Hello, i found thie site through a suggestion on another forum, GlockTalk.  They have a religion section that seems mostly to be a place for atheists and assorted non-believers to bash Christ. I became so fed up that I was looking for a better place to spend my spare time. I am a member of the local Christian Church that is a Restoration movement style of Church.

Welcome, brother. I've had my share of communication with atheists too. You're in better company here.

It gets tedious quickly when they spend so much time and effort trying to justify themselves and never getting around to the truth of God.

1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

I agree. I finally came to the conclusion that God simply has not given them faith.

"For in grace, through faith, are you saved, and this is not out of you; it is God's approach present, not of works, lest anyone should be boasting." (Ephesians 2:8,9)

I believe we are saved for eonian life in grace through faith; the rest of mankind will be saved from death at the consummation of the eons through judgment before the great white throne; and God is "the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will" (Ephesians 1:11).

w9trb Welcome to a forum who believes the true gospel:  Jesus Christ Savior of ALL men.
Tom: I'm adding your noteworthy welcome post to my notebook. which I see as a good follow-up of jabcat's earlier thread:  Confess ...  I haven't copied jabcat's post entirely yet... but plan to return enough times to copy it into my notebook.

w9trb... My prayer for you is that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.

Welcome!  God drew you here through that Glock forum, I am sure.  In the fullness of time, He will also draw all those scoffers on that forum also.   :friendstu:
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Thanks for the welcoming responses, comments and prayer. All of these are appreciated. I,like so many others, have a story to tell. But, having told it to others and having gotten a wide range of responses, from denial to curious probing questions, I shall wait a while and test the waters so to speak.  Let me just say up front that God is faithful and true to his word. Blessings to all...

Welcome! It can be frustrating trying to witness to scoffers and nonbelievers. From my experience, whenever I've made a point, all they can say are things like "prove to me God exists" or "prove to me the God is inspired." It's annoying, but God has a reason for it so the best thing to do when someone rejects even the most glorious gospel is to pray for them and move on.

I agree Warhawk17, I strive to show them a light and they scurry back into the darkness. It is like a reflex action, the light hurts their eyes perhaps and the darkness is somehow comforting.

I think they get scared when you hold up a mirror and show them what they look like.

I think it's worse though when you witness to ETers, and they condemn you to hell.

No I don't mind when ETers lash out at me. I have noticed though that when people of the ET persuasion want to redirect off of themselves they often make it personal by trying to find blame in the messenger. That works also because I have never shared the truth with anyone that I am better than. Sharing without condemnation works the best.
