It's been a long time since I have visited and posted on Tentmaker.

My faith has been somewhat up and down. It's like God injected me with some courageous faith at the start of the year, and now I'm running dry.

For the past eight months I've been living in a world that was very different to when I first came on tentmaker.
Temptation, mental illness, work, stress, physical illness, and feeling deprived of God has brought me back down on my knees.

I feel so ashamed about slipping away, and always coming back to God when I feel down. He is no safety blanket, yet somehow my mind is so trapped in this material world, it sometimes forgets the spiritual. Sometimes I wish God would just take me now.
I hate being young and living in this generation, it's so hard.

MissZ. God loves you. Those feelings of shame do not come from Him. Remember the creation was subjected to vanity by Him for a glorious purpose. Also everything out there isn't evil. We live in the flesh world and Paul spoke against taste not touch not. It's easy to beat yourself up but don't. Just move forward to,the next glory and enjoy the ride.

Wondered about you just the other day.

It is hard, and I feel for you.  As a believer, sitting in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, I believe we are indeed different than this world.  Light doesn't blend with darkness.  It scatters it.  We're to not be dismayed when the world hates us..it hated Jesus first.  Take comfort that He knows you..when the world rejects you, or even when we "reject" ourselves, He'll still hold you.  If God is for us, who can be against us.  He loves you.

I will keep you in prayer.  Blessings, James.

Miss Z, remember that the glories and happiness which lie ahead of you (and all of us!) in the life to come, are such that our current situations and problems are not even worthy of comparison.  All God requires of you is to hang on and wait for Him.  Remember too, that we are always here for you in your journey... :friendstu:
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Please to meet you Miss Z   :friendstu:

Thank you,

Such hope and kind words you have given me  :HeartThrob:
The shame is something that tries to steal me away from his peace, this I know. It lies in the pit of my stomach, devours my courage and makes me want to run away.  I will ask God to take me how I am today, tomorrow, and till the day I die, until he sets upon me a heart of flesh. Till then I struggle with this heart of stone. These life lessons I must learn, to better glorify him.

Thankfully, I know that I am never alone. Laz, your post reminds me of this passage...

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

Ross

Hi;
The shame is stimulated to try and instil a sense of failure.
Christ loves you regardless. He saved you. He loves you no matter what.

I lost it from my library but there is a song(can't remember the singer either) but it still rolls in my inner ear, the words are about me/him, slipping falling, etc. and me letting go, but even that.... HE KEEPS HOLDING ON! Now that is comfort and rest in the midst of all my earthy and/or mental turmoil.
HE    KEEPS    HOLDING    ON!

Glad your back :HeartThrob: :dsunny:

reading the above thread....these words come to me ...' I was naked and you clothed me "

we serve and love a wonderful awesome God !! A God of comfort and love to His broken people.

I've fallen so many times..lying flat out with my face in the dirt...and it has only been His love

that give me the strength to get up and continue on.

Miss Zoo   a little child learning to walk..falls many times...and so do we. Some falls are harder then

others.  Why some falls are so hard the little one must be held and comforted and tears wiped away.

what loving parent doesn't do this?   He is the only secure thing that exists.

ps;  He is my security blanket, too :friendstu:

Twisting and turning, so many forks in the road
Sometimes it's hard to know the best way to go
And sooner or later we're bound to come to the place
where we've made the wrong choice and our wounded heart is at stake

There's only one Place to go
Only one true hiding place I know
into the heart of the One Who loves you so
There's only one Place to go

God gave us feelings for a reason. Feelings are communication from God, but they're often misunderstood.

Physical pain is a warning of danger to our bodies.

Emotional pain is a warning of danger to our minds.

Feelings are usually accompanied by thoughts. Like, if I'm sad, I have an unpleasant emotion, but I also have a thought. And the thought is usually partly false.

If I'm sad, the thought is usually that I'm alone or that my needs or desires are not being fulfilled. Obviously, the first one is false, because God is always with me, but I put up a barrier to God so I think He's not there. In the second case, I'm usually assuming that my needs are not being fulfilled through no fault of my own. But that's probably false. It's probably my fault. And, if I ask God, He may explain what the fault is, so I can fix it.

So, when I have unpleasant emotion, I often ask myself what false thinking am I engaging in, because the falsehood is the cause of the pain. And I often get God's answer very quickly.

God gave us a natural state of happiness, and he gave us the ability to detect pain as a way to warn us of false thinking, so we would have a quick prompt to help us remove the cause of the pain, the false thinking being the cause, so we could return to our natural state of happiness asap.

Re:  There's only one Place to go

I've been listening to an album:  You Are My Hiding Place (The National Christian Choir) it's been on my CD player most of today... I've checked TM Forum a couple of times today and decided to read the entire See sawing thread and was delighted when I read jabcat's reply in song...such an encouraging, comforting song  --  reminds me of John 6:66-68  From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.  Then said Jesus unto the twelve 'Will ye also go away?  Then Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

You Are My Hiding Place  Ledner, 1983 Maranatha Music

You are my hiding place,
You always fill my heart with songs of deliverance,
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
Let the weak say I am strong in the strength of the Lord.
I will trust in You.

Ironically, later in the day yesterday after I watched it, I lost my car keys. I was kind of freaking out because my work keys were on there too so I went back and watched that video again, and it helped me relax. Fortunately, I did find the keys this morning.
