I've started it, but haven't got very far.  I find it difficult to understand.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

try this version he has translated it to be easier to read. not old english etc...

Wow! Only $40.  I know many are "into" end time prophetic stuff. IMO, if God wanted this book included in the bible, he would have. Personally, I'm tired of the steady stream of "propheteers" that make money and/or a career out of telling people what God "forgot" to tell us, or interpreting things God couldn't figure out how to make plain, or a "new" revelation that will tickle one's ears. Yes, I am a cynic, but I am a cynic that loves God and have seen people "shear the sheep" for over 40 years now. :Peace2:
If you want to read the book, you can read it for free at:
http://muggletonian.org.uk/Non%20Muggletonian/content%20files/enoch.pdf

If it helps you, you may want to spend the $40 bux, but it's not for me.

I've never heard of that guy but I love the book of Enoch. (Or the parts I've read of it, I haven't read the whole thing.)

sheila

I read it,too.  Just because certain men in 397AD of roman catholic church and pope..did not

deign to include it...matters not to me.  prophesy is scripture..and Enoch prophesied...

testified to in other scripture.

my opionion in the matter is 'some think only certain scripture is inspired..and they are

the ones to choose to tell us what is inspired"

  now..each man's conscience..is his guide..if you can't read it in faith..it would be a sin to you

I am curious about something.
There's been a lot of talk on the boards lately concerning the "math" of the scriptures.
Is this math unique to the Bible? Can one also "make it work" with, say, "Lord of the Rings?"
Does the math work for the apocrypha? The book of Enoch?

I'm not talking about somebody said they worked it out or they read it somewhere, I'm curious about any actual proof for all the questions I've asked in this post. :dontknow:
I ask because there are many anecdotes which are just plain lies repeated by well meaning Christians that hear it from a respected leader that claims it's true. An example is the made up story about the scientists figuring we were a day "short" with their computers and someone pointed out Joshua's long day and that was almost enough but they needed just a little more time and someone pointed out about the shadow going reverse up the steps (20 min). The whole story sounds nice and plausible but is completely false.

lomarah

I don't know anything about numbers and math in the Bible really so I can't answer your questions there but all I know is that the Spirit bears witness to it when I read it (the parts that I've read, again I haven't read it all). I'm with Sheila, it doesn't matter to me that some dudes decided not to include it in the present day scriptures. As per your first post, wouldn't you agree that God hid the fact that He is saving the whole world rather than making it plain to everyone?

If you feel called to it, read it.  I don't know why people have such issues with people charging money for their time.  He spent a lot of time researching the hebrew words and makeing sure the translations are correct and not "twisted" as they often are. Also he has paid for printing of the book so you can have a copy to hold in your hands.   I do not feel bad paying someone $40 for the time nd money he put into it. Its his life work.  This is what he does!   Its GODS money anyways isn't it? :)  This man has a lot of really good information to share.  The book of enoch even says we would be living in the time of Apostasy.  Just becuase the book of enoch wasn't in the cannon doesn' t mean GOD doesn't want us to hear about it.  WE are in the age of deception.  BIG TIME. why wouldn't this include the bible??  Why do you believe it was recently discovered in the dead sea scrolls, and why it says in the book itself that it is a book for the generation in the end times and would be revealed then?  SEems pretty interesting to me!  The book of enoch will make so many things more clear in the old and new testiment.  Give it a try.  and if you don't understand it and feel called to spend the $40 dollars to get a copy that has been translated more correctly and out of the old king james english (which who really speaks tat way today any ways???)  then grab a copy.

..at the original link as an intro as to why the book of Enoch was written, it makes the same claim as the Book of Mormon.. to clear up things others intentionally confused in, I presume, the Bible.

If it's not too long I'll probably read the pdf Ded put the link to here.. otherwise will scan  :laughing7:

I think the keys to end days prophecy are in the Bible, jes sayin'  :2c:

Yeah, if people want to or feel led to read it, that's up to them and God.  I may read things like that, find it interesting - maybe even helpful.  But IMO, it still needs to be checked against the whole of scripture and the Holy Spirit's leading - not just if it sounds good, is entertaining, or reinforces something I want to believe.  The Holy Spirit is real, leads us, guides us, comforts us.  I also know man in general - and some more than others - have a very active imagination and can think something's of God, when it really should be approached with more discernment IMO - testing all things, holding to that which is good ("not all spirits are of God").

As far as "some men just decided" - I certainly don't claim to have all understanding on that, as I certainly don't agree with everything the Catholic Church does or has done.  I believe we always need to be aware that God uses whoever and whatever He wishes to fulfill His purposes, and I don't know what it would take for me to not believe that the canon of scripture is just what God intended for us to have.  Again, hard to explain and totally grasp, but I do also believe He wanted the translations we had, and is giving us better ones all the time - but of those books, not just whatever else comes along we want to call scripture.  So although without all the answers for sure, I still personally believe it's something to be VERY careful about, as we can potentially be led into apostasy and imagination, and believe and pass on all kinds of "new truths" that are really just muddying the waters.  For me I believe it's pray, check the scriptures, look to the Lord.   :2c:

The the thing is , is the book of enoch doesn't contradict the bible.  so why would anyone think its not of GOD or whatever?  it just has MORE information, and adds to those things in the old testiment that are only breifly mentioned.  worth a read :)

It sounds like it might be :).  I guess I've looked at some things in it/about it before, but not remembering for sure.

My main point I guess is, not just about the book of enoch, as it may be very useful - if approached with discernment and checked against the scriptures themselves.  I just don't think we should gobble up just anything that comes along and declare it as "OF GOD".  For instance, I personally don't believe the words of Harold Camping or Oral Roberts etc. are on the same level as Matthew's or Mark's.    I believe the former requires testing and checking against the scriptures - the latter is scripture.  IMO, there's probably more wild claims and unscriptural declarations floating around for consumption (and confusion) than ever in the history of mankind.   As Gary says, this is an age of "a mixture of truth and error".  I personally think time alone with the Lord and the Holy scriptures is probably a very good thing - something I don't do enough of.   :2c:

Alright, I guess this is more a discussion of the book of Enoch though, so I've had my say.   :msealed:

I guess one thing that helped  me with this, is that I listened to almost alll of timothy sakach's radio broadcasts in the archive.  hours and hours and horurs of his bible study of old and new test. and also how he makes connections with enoch.  in the old testiment when enoch is mentioned it just says,  enoch walked with god and was taken up by GOD .  something like that.  So wouldn't you want to knowmore about that!  well book of enoch explains his "walk with GOD" as mentioned in the old test.  timoty always mentioned that it isn't "his teachings"  its the spirit of truth the holy spirit teaching this through him.  i feel the truth in it.  it resonates with universal salvation completely which we are all beliving here, well most of us.  these teaching resonated with me in the same way,  where it felt scary cause it contradicts a lot o"religious " beliefs.  anyways,  thanks for your replies!

also just wanted to share this with you all because it totally confirms universal salvation.

Yeah it does, big time. It's a beautiful book actually, the parts I've read have blessed me tremendously.

I did a little investigating, following Ded's link: http://muggletonian.org.uk/Non%20Muggletonian/content%20files/enoch.pdf

Enoch who "walked wth God" (365 yrs, the previous verse says) "and he was not, for God took him", it seems to be the idea he then returned and prophesied about the visions and things angels showed him and wrote the Book of Enoch. It is even said by someone in history (in the long intro, I forget who) that he became the lead 'angel'.
It seems some scholars who have studied it felt it was written by more than one author and one date i saw was 98bc. It's a pretty long book I see. I'm not sure how well it fits with UR, as excerpts on it said the fallen angels will have a kingdom where they mete out punishments to the lost, and talks about "the sure destruction awaiting the sinners".. "burning valley".. "oven of fire" "fallen angels and sinners to be destroyed by fire". It says Christ will return to Mt Sinai, but Zechariah says it will be Mt of Olives (where He left from, Acts 1:19?)

I'm thinking someone for sure had a vision, and it's interesting to read. Have you ever read writings from people today who say it's inspired by Jesus.. the tone to me sounds a lot like them.. I wrote some myself in days gone by (quite a long time ago). All things of interest but to be taken with a grain of discernment. And is perhaps why it didn't make it inot the books of the Bible.

I'm kind of thinking that Enoch became a legend.. handed down and all, some fact mixed with exagerration.. That he did indeed prophecy, , that being 100% accurate..

Jude saying he prophesied about folks like he was seeing in the churches(verse 4,12,13) - Jude saying, "..certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ." (The Gnostics/meaning "secret knowledge" were big in the days of the early church, and were notorious for denying Jesus literally came in the flesh; the sects ranged from strict ascentism to base carnality, such as with the Nicolaitans, seeing as flesh/matter was evil, so eating, etc, so what the hey) "clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;[13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever" (for age during)

[14,15]"And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

note, example of eternal fire was "Sodom & Gomorrah's judgment".. verse 7, still 'aflame' now/'eternal'...?

Here, is an html version.. complete, I think.. without the huge intro of the pdf.. I don't do well with pdf.. Easier to read, smoother going.
