Oh yes, the UR connection?  If I didn't have a computer, I wouldn't have access to the Internet and if I couldn't access the Internet, I would not have become acquainted with Tentmaker Forum... where I continue to learn and grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ--to Him be all glory both now and forever.

Hi Anna....as a computor/tech challenged  person...I hear ya!

   I sent back two laptops because the mouse didn't work.  went an bought an external

  mouse..through tech help site to no avail.   3 yrs later,when my grand-daughter got a laptop..

   I realized the touch screen was not the monitor display screen but that little square at

  6;00 o'clock on the keyboard!!!!

   3-4 months ago...I finally got a cellphone!!!!

confessing    my ignorance here , having the same   old computer thats 12 now  , hating to learn  new things technical    and  I do not have a cell phone either ,  had it and hated it ! no service  most of the time  because  I live in the boonies ! :dsunny:

math is not one of my strong suits... I do know several really wonderful mothers who became mothers at age 15.  I'll be 79 on April 22 -- and I read  some where that you were 61....???

I remember a time when I was the wizz kid in my county, as nobody bothered with computers in those days, as we were way behind other countries like the usa.

I had to teach my mother how to turn on a pc, Nowadays my mother is the one teaching me  :laugh:, well not quite  :declare:

about 6 yrs ago, my other sister[not Rose] was looking forward to 4 full days without

her husband or 2  sons. Seems they were all going out of stat for a hunting trip.

   She thought.." I'll get to choose what I want to watch on T.V."  She was pretty vexed

when the house was all quiet..and she tried to turn on the T.V. and found she didn't know

how to.[ there were 3 remotes for that thing...she pushed various buttons..on various remotes

  in various combinations, all to no avail]   LOL!!!!!!

I'm 63, and sometimes describe myself as a "retro-grouch."  I mostly dropped out of one tech-oriented www forum of which I was a well-established member, because people kept discussing new stuff I knew nothing about.  Why, my stereo system still has vacuum tubes in it.

It always strikes me as 'funny' when I or someone else is standing in front of the microwave, groaning over its slowness!

Our printer was down at work to other day and one of my co-wokers was complaining that she needed to print out the spine label number which was on the screen.  She needed the number so she could find a book.  I gave her a piece of paper and a pen.  She looked at me stunned for about two seconds and then burst out laughing.  The pen and the paper I gave her were laying on her desk, the printer was in the other room.

Don't get me started on the workplace. The people here have started "naming" the food that's in the fridge here at work. Today I had a ham and cheese named "Fred."

goomer????  Just one more thing I didn't learn when I was teaching (yes, teaching) training keypunch operators.   Couldn't decide whether to post this to the American idioms thread or this one...   I was about to reply to Sheila's wonderful sharing on The Anti-Christ thread when you guys started having fun with goomers, etc.... and I really, really needed a good laugh... thanks!!!

....I recall....clling my toddler daughter a gomer[gah..mer]  due to the fact that the food was everwhere when she ate...

   her hair...all over the high-chair..the floor...everything!!!    I would say...she's such  a gah..mer!!!

   could be a regional dialect type word? My mom used it,too.

   the little key-thingy fell off the letter a on the keyboard...now when I hit it...no a of aa all the time.  so I either;

  have to go back and insert or delete it...  :sigh:  tedious......

Jab you're in good company. My daughter has made up her own words from the time she could make babbling sounds. She is almost 5 and still does it lol. Actually I think I remember reading somewhere it's the sign of a genious or something.... so there ya go.  :declare:

Sheila the a won't pop back on? My son had a bit of a key fetish a while back where we kept finding all the keys popped off our laptop and/or desktop keyboards. They generally popped right back on (thankfully lol!).

Could be.  I probably just got a little "creative" (intentionally) and added another 'o'  ..I really used to like to watch Gomer Pyle..but that's another story.
