"thrown into the oven"

Matthew 6:30 and Luke 12:28 record Jesus using this phrase "cast (or thrown) into the oven". But what is He talking about? The "grass of the field! "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you—oh you of little faith?" Does He mean the grass will be burning for 'ever' and 'ever' or even "age lasting"?
- Malachi 4:1 says "See, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch."
- Isaiah 30:33 says "For his burning place has long been prepared; truly it is made ready for the king, its pyre made deep and wide, with fire and wood in abundance; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it."
- I've always wondered in one of the visions John saw (Book of Revelation) when it talks about "blood up to horses bridles"... it always makes me think of oil.. (this because of the line in a song written by, shoot I can't think of his name.. the line is how in black and white, blood next to a body looks like a shadow.. he says it much more poetically however!)
- Is the LOF nothing more (or less) than fiery destruction, as Israel always understood judgment to be? We know the last war or battle takes place in the Middle East, "around Jerusalem" where all that oil is, which would turn sand into glass? (The Malachi 4:1 verse, stored up?) And the "camp of the saints" after the millennium, again, is surrounded, now, or that is, then, the "camp of the saints and the beloved city"... And even these ones who surround the beloved camp for war, I'm presuming will be resurrected in the 2nd resurrection.
..."neither root nor branch.." makes me think of banks! Not that banks are the only things which will disappear, :laugh: and gladly so!

I'm studying up on verses having to do with furnace, fire, oven, etc.. Though I'm not sure if the thought above can fly what with "the LOF was created for the devil and his angels"..?
- Another LOF theory, imo, would be thermo-nuclear warfare. I know Ezekiel makes a reference to "they will look at each other their faces on fire" (yikes, enough 'judgment' to bring home any lesson I would think! tho we humans can be pretty stubborn!)

Same thoughts went through my head, Marie and I posted it quite a while ago--

Something like--meet the lake of fire--with a picture of a tanker burning up and the water on fire around it

in the straits of Hormuz.  What would make water burn, literalist that I am, --oil.

And, sand turns to glass under very high heat.

Remember how saddam set the oil wells on fire and no one could put them out?  They would have burned forever and ever without daredevils like red adair to put them out, and someday maybe they will.

Anyway I wrote a lot of posts on this sort of thing and everyone yawned.  Then the posts were lost in the apocalypse [of this board lol].

But, yes, I can see things along these lines, for sure.

Because all the prophecy in the Old Testament is about that part of the world by name.

I was reading recently (I don't remember where I read this) about one of the theories on what the LOF is - the valley of Siddim (Dead Sea valley).  There was at one time many fires burning underground in the tar pits around that valley.  They seemed to burn "forever," with billows of black smoke rising.  It is theorized that there were also deposits of sulfur there.  The place is a barron, hot desert, and the water is benign of life.  The salt, however, purifies.  They theorized that the valley was used figuratively, much like the valley of Hinnom (Gehenna) was used figuratively by Jesus. :2c:

Lake of fire:  Could read "the pond, habor, haven" of fire ( fire; G4442  pur   (literally or figuratively) - fiery, fire.
Lake: G3041  limnē  through the idea of the nearness of shore); a pond (large or small): - lake.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, The  Revelation, as the word  apokalupsis, used today and by most religions including christianity is said to be the end of the world with

So in my opinion, if religion is going to spread stories/write books that the Revelation of Jesus Christ is "the Apocalypse, depicting symbolically the ultimate destruction of evil and triump
of good," then it' my opinon, maybe they got the whole book out of kilter? I got that definition from a dictionary, but they got the " symbolically " correct.
And as jbertonbounds has posted salt and sulpher (brimstone) as well as fire are purifiers.

Oven:
1) a clibanus, a earthen vessel for baking bread. It was broader at the bottom than above at the orifice, and when sufficiently heated by a fire kindled within, the dough was baked by being spread upon the outside. [but according to others, the dough was baked by being placed inside and the fire or coals outside, the vessel being perforated with small holes that the heat might better penetrate.

It's called a cubicle in the OT. It's oven used by a refiner to purify gold.
