I love action movies, the good guy rescues a person or persons from the bad guy(s). Simple. Not anymore
I used to really enjoy watching, Schwarznegger, Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Van Damm, Steven Segal, Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris.
Not anymore. These Guys are way too old for action heroes and I don't care to see any of them ever again in another "action" picture. After "Rocky 5" many years ago, they asked stallone about a rocky six. He said, "what would I fight? Back Pain?" It didn't stop him from ludicrously having him beat the world champ once again.
Chauvinism. The Expendables showed a male action hero could be as old as 65. Didja ever see a female action hero over 40?
How come hollywood makes it seem normal for a beautiful girl to be partnered romantically with male stars old enough to be their father, yet if a female hero star was partnered romantically with a male young enough to be her son would it be believable. (I am discounting the actual ages of the stars rather than the ages portrayed since some can "pass" for younger.
Anyway, male action stars should quit making action movies when females do - around age 40-45
BTW, if you think I say this because I'm young, you're wrong, it's because I'm old. Most of the stuff they portray these codgers as doing is done by stunt doubles and who would seriously injure themselves if they tried the stunts themselves. :2c:

It goes a lot deeper than that, ded.  I won't even get into themes and plots redone, redone, and redone, or bad CGI.  No, the most basic problem with action movies is that they portray violence done by the "good guys" as inherently good and underwritten.  Like Hancock, they do not have to face any of the consequences of their actions, and uninvolved, innocent bystanders are just unfortunate collateral damage.  The young men who grew up with such movies are now being sent to war for the benefit of their country/corporation.  End rant.

You're right Laz. The violence has escalated and the graphicness of it has also. Maybe that's why I like detective shows from the 40's 50's and 60's. Sherlock holmes rarely ever used a gun, Barnaby Jones would always "wing" the bad guy in the arm or shoulder.
Columbo never carried a gun, nor did murder she wrote, woman. The guns just keep getting bigger and it seems the solution to everything is violence. Even the Kung-fu series was limited to 2 minutes of violence (mostly kicks and throws)on a 50 minute show.

Yes, I'm tired mainly from this continual obsession to control the uncontrollable.  I'm tired because I exhaust myself.

I think its inspiring older guys are still making action movies.  And btw i wouldnt say no to another alien movie with a 60 year old sweaty sigourney weaver...shes still got it baby!

Lets face it, stallone at 60 odd is fitter than most 20 yr olds these days.  at least hes doing something with his life!

Also, times change....There was a time 30 was old.  People live longer and why should they quit doing something they like if they can still do it (better than younger folks a lot of the time), just because they have a problem with it?
