Hope everyone had a happy fathers day!
Mine went well with my parents coming by after their church service. We got to talking(which I avoid because I am a heretic?) but they were beginning to get fed up with the church and the lack of life(spirit)
When the bulletin came out it had a list of all the summer programs and the requirements of individuals. My dad lost it and said does no one want to do it because they feel like it and actually enjoy it!.....I said welcome to religion and all its obligations!
He was finally seeing the futility of our structures and the things we have conjured up.So I had to give him one more "hell"....he didn't say nothing back ,neither did my mom, I least hope they might open the door a bit to what God is saying
I don't feel to be such a heretic anymore hehe

I think you hit on something very important.  It is often glossed over in most circles including this one.  But, what is our motivation for "UR conversion"?  I know for myself, I am in danger of trying to convert someone to my way of thinking, if I'm insecure about my way of thinking.  When dealing with things of faith, there are many ideas, and threatenings which promote insecurity and anxiety.  A way of consoling that anxiety is to get someone else to agree with us...to attack those who don't believe as we believe.  So, you saying your parents coming around a bit consoled some of your anxiety around your "heresy" is a very honest response.

Today, I don't try to pry doors open.  I try not to fit square pegs in round holes.  There are people who are living within the law portions of their lives, and are not ready to be freed from their bondage.  I don't fight them.  Instead, I believe we are to focus on relationship.  When we develop relationships with others, working on unity rather than seperation a wonderful thing takes place.  If we are living with peace, love, serenity and joy those we have a relationship with will get curious.  If in that moment of curiosity some seeds can be planted, or they express a need, or some confusion I try to be of help.

Pushing up against closed doors only results in frustration, hard feelings and division.  Today, I try not to live that way.

Well seeing the lack of life in the church is definitely one of the first steps in coming to the knowledge of the truth.

to be honest shawn...what people think or say doesn't bother me anymore...the anxiety isn't there anymore
initially I beleive with all of us, when going through the renewing of our minds, our desire is for someone we know and love to be able to relate to us and not deny us.After going through all the inital stuff I know God will do what he wants to do at the right time.
In the meantime its nice to see God at work on my family....even if they don't "get it".
I smile a lot more now

I hear ya.  I know the time in my walk where I wanted to fight UR battles was probably the time I was most insecure about my beliefs.  I have a peace today, and that peace guides who, when and where that I share.  My comments were less directed towards you and more of me using your post as a stepping stone to make a few points.  I'm glad your family is beginning to see a few things.
