That's our problem. We think God is far, holding us down, angry about us, distant and even mean. And the christian religion is there to beautify this and say, it is love. But it's not true. God is close to us. He wants us to trust Him, and that not in order to satisfy some otherworldly, strange alienness, but because He is our fulfillment, of our humanity's needs for love and support and elation. God is ours. Jesus is ourselves in Heaven who remembers all of us. He forgives our sin and will love us forever. He is as close to us as our heart, He actually lives in our heart! God is also transcendent, which seems scary and alien once again, but He is a master and Lord, He has Himself under control. He is not a raging wrath that ponders about itself and who sent Jesus to soothe that wrath. God loves us so much that He wanted to solve the guilt and punishment question, because through our sinfulness this idea of justice became something by which the devil could ensnare us, doom us. God is pure benevolence. With a lot of wisdom. He does strange things sometimes, when we don't have an explanation, when we may even feel inclinded to let spirituality be. But God is approachable, and we need to encourage each other to seek God again and again, and not entertain any bitterness. God is INDEED love.
