Burial

I wonder is there are any rules for burial.

In the OT we read all sort of rules for birth. Presenting in the Temple. Woman unclean. Etc Etc.

But what about death? Does the Bible teach anything about:

- burial
- cremation
- organ donation
- give your body to science (anatomy class)
- blood transfusion
- etc

 :cloud9: Yes it does. The Jews had particular things they did, based on His laws to them, including the law that required His closest male relatives to bury Him. There is so much more in the NT than meets the Western eye about all the circumstances surrounding His burial, and the things leading up to it, which you don't "see" without knowing the background of why and how they did things, and WHO was doing them.

For instance, the woman that put the spikenard on His head, was most likely the daughter of a "rebel" Pharisee and/or priest, because the "nard" that she used could be translated as "genuine" nard, meaning the anointing oil that was used to crown kings, that only a priest would have access to. It was forbidden for anyone but the priests to make it according to the "recipe" given by God.

He was described as a leper in the gospels, but the Pharisees would blackball someone calling them a leper (unclean), if they swam against the tide for any reason, and becoming a believer in Christ as the Messiah would definitely be swimming against the tide.

Calling someone a leper, was especially convenient for them, since the priests were the only ones you could go to if you were a leper, to be pronounced "clean" and be accepted back into the community.

Unless she was the daughter of a priest, no priest would want a potentially "unclean" unknown woman to anoint anyone in his house, much less that oil on his floor unless he himself knew where it came from and knew her, because of laws concerning ritual purity and so he would have never permitted it.

Interesting that Jesus essentially commanded this story to always be told with the gospel. It's because it was the anointing oil crowning Him both Priest and King. My  :2c: Blessings....

If there are any instructions in the Bible they have been created by religion, probably most from pagan religion picked up along the way. Its mankind who are alive that cannot get past dying, the dead are dead and no not anything. Mans emotions are triggered by the loss of a loved one, be it mankind or animal kind their flesh return to dust.

Job 34:15  Expire doth all flesh together, And man to dust returneth.

Ecc 3:19 For the destiny of the sons of humanity And the destiny of the beast, It is one destiny for them; As death is for this one, so is death for that one, And one spirit is for all; There is no advantage for the human over the beast, For the whole is vanity."
Ecc 3:20 All are going to one place; All have come from the soil, and all return to the soil."

Judas was a priest. At least one other Apostle was a priest too.
The woman was married to Nicodemus who was member of the Sanhedrin and (likely) the richest person of Jewish history.
Likely not his real name because it means "innocent of blood"

PS. There's some weird stuff on that site, but definitely some things worth gleaning and studying, and some confirmation for me of some things I had thought, but didn't have the ability to prove. God is awesome.

I'm gonna try to turn that and other info in a family tree. I think there's much to learn from a graphical representation.
Just from the article we know Jesus was very rich. His ministry seems very local. The Mary with the 7 spirits and Lazarus both were direct family living in the same estate.
