Time of sorrows?

I have been thinking lately about the time of sorrows (travail) that Jesus spoke of to His disciples. He mentioned that we can know the signs of the times, ie, earthquakes pestilence, wars and rumors of wars and troubles and that the end is not yet but it is the beginning of sorrows.

Well, after the Indian ocean tsunami and what took place in Japan, massive tornados barreling through the States and Katrina, plus wars all through the middle east and N Africa, a new strain of E Coli and I could go on ad infinitum. So, with the increased frequency of these things not to mention the collapsing of the world economy, that this is the time of sorrows or maybe I am completely off base?

Does anyone have any thoughts and/or truth concerning this?

  Hi Cam,
Hard to  not notice it eh ?
But this has all happened before , its history repeating itself
nothing new under the Sun
some how that comforts me
with knowing all things are  Gods to do as He wills
we suffer loss  down here all of us , suffer  great loss daily even death ,all the time and all over , God is reaping His ready ones back into Himself , some will not see it that way , but for me its that simple
very  humbling ,keeping many low even and trusting the Lord always  :HeartThrob:
Jesus is the reward  !!

Thanks Rosered for your thoughts. True, there has been these things before however Jesus said "we can know the signs of the times" This is something we can know! The frequency of these events is staggering, every time I look at the news, there is some disaster somewhere on the planet or some new war starting up.

I'm not afraid of it, in fact I look forward to the end, I'm ready now warts and all! Yes, it IS comforting to know that the Lord is in control.

A blessing to you.     :icon_king:

News has become more worldwide. I can read about a dog that got killed on he other side of the ocean. -> It looks there is more news, but in reality it's just a higher percentage of things that are reported.
News has become like spam. Certain items get repeated over and over again. -> Repeated items stick in your mind.
Newsites usually have discussion forums. -> Again something that makes one think there is more news.
People tend to see connections that don't exist. -> The world has an history of war, famine, pestilence and death
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Yes, agreed WW however I'm thinking about the really dramatic things that are happening, my spirit keeps wanting to go to that verse. I've heard a lot of the "end times" nut jobs out there and it's big business both in the secular and christian realms. Anyways, just some thoughts.

Those Christian nut jobs often are well versed. They see signs. And.... nothing happens. You could be very right, but history shows you wouldn't be the first one to be very wrong :sigh:

People often see things they want to see.
People that believe in a bodily return of Jesus see signs everywhere.
Those who believe it will "only" be spiritual wouldn't even notice if Jesus stepped on their toes.

Revelation is a book of signs. If we take everything literal Jesus needs a 1000 years to submit people. Largely because people don't believe.
But if Revelation is literal we can't just pick and chose what's literal.
Imagine a world with angels sounding trumpets. Beast with 10 head coming out of the sea. Horses with scorpion tails terrorizing people. Etc etc.
I would say that would get lots and lots of news coverage. I also think such event would convert people faster than a 1000 years because it's scientific proof of the supernatural.

To summarize  :dontknow:

John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

just being leary of them  types and shadows   its a good thing to  ponder them  catastrophes as signs and wonders , we do not want to be surprised when  the birth pangs   come on us   sorrows  and anguish  :HeartThrob:

Matt 24 / Luke 21 / Mark 13  :HeartThrob:

Mar 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these [are] the beginnings of sorrows.

each generation gets a dose of troubles all of  them selves  :msealed:
Jesus is the reward  !!
