Beloved Servant

Remember Micah;
David was made king BEFORE he had Uriah killed!
Praise the Lord.

Is the believer, someone who believes in Jesus Christ somewhat stereotyped? Doesnt smoke, drink, swear or cuss.
I mean, does a believer who has faith in Jesus Christ, have to be a non-smoker, a non-drinker, someone not known for much anger.
I realize that 1Ti 3:3  not given to wine, not a striker, not given to filthy lucre, but gentle, not contentious, not a lover of money,
1Ti 3:8  Ministrants--in like manner grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not given to filthy lucre,

But should a soul have been found by Jesus and has been moved to believe, and does but still drinks and perhaps smokes and chews is that person at all availabe to the Will and Word of God?

I think it depends on where a person is in their spiritual development. Sometimes it is growth, when a person quits drinking, smoking etc, but then as they continually grow into the lord they kind of unlearn what they have learned and realize that rightoeusness is more that what happens on the outside, but to wash the cup clean on the inside. Which allows a clean person on the inside such as Jesus to drink lot's of wine.

That's really something to think about.
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

Beloved Servant

Exodus 23:

27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

28 And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

29 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.

30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

a. I will send My fear before you . . . and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you: God promised that He would go before Israel, but He would not drive out the enemies in Canaan all at once. Israel may have wanted the land all cleared out, but God knows best.

b. ... lest the land become desolate and the beast of the field become too numerous: God chose to defeat their enemies little by little. Clearing out Israel's enemies all at once had consequences the people could not see.

c. Little by little: God clears things out little by little, though we might prefer otherwise. God wanted Israel to increase in the process of taking the Promised Land. He wanted them to mature.

Micah   you have the same questions   I also seek ..  One thing that helped me understand some
    God does seperate the two
the flesh  and Spirit  are divided  in us  one wars with the other all the time
they  both   are at the same time in one  body /our own bodies   Jesus told the scribes Pharrissees and hypocrits   that they judge the flesh and He judges no man  , yet if he judges His judgment is just
chew and  smoke and drink are flesh things     the spirit does not  have any need of those things
So dont you think Jesus judges our hearts  intent by the spirit that is operating in us ?   if it be of God or of this world
Like you, I just wonder  and have heard no  ''earth moving answers '' that have  given   a settled  peace about them  things within
still searching  for  the TRUTH  in those matters , and pray to God  for more clarity ..  :HeartThrob:
Jesus is the reward  !!

Ecc 8:15  And I have praised mirth because there is no good to man under the sun except to eat and to drink, and to rejoice, and it remaineth with him of his labour the days of his life that God hath given to him under the sun.

Ecc 9:7  Go, eat with joy thy bread, and drink with a glad heart thy wine, for already hath God been pleased with thy work

good point  Micah ,  there is no good to man except those things that man does
but dont you think the Spiritual man though  Jesus  Christ  has more to offer ?
just sayin '  :HeartThrob:

This is soo true Molly ,  great point to bring up ...
Pauls said he had to become all things to all men that he  might save some though the gospel   in other words  you dont bring pork bar-b-que   to a Jewish feast  :msealed:
it might offend  them and they cannot hear anything you might say about the Lord  for stumbling  thier faith / weak or whatever  :mblush:

Thanks  for your imput , awesome  :HeartThrob:

1Cr 9:22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all [men], that I might by all means save some.
1Cr 10:33 Even as I please all [men] in all [things], not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of many, that they may be saved.

Hope not to get off track

  here
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit
For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.
Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Rom 14:21 [It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
so does the spirit  in a man become weak from things done in our flesh ?
I would say Yes  :HeartThrob:

But than If you being Spiritual   them  things would not offend you because no flesh pleases God
so why focus on the flesh of men ? its all rotten anyways  , our own weaknesses   make us NO BETTER OFF than them
Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Jesus is the reward  !!

The good news is that in Him we can overcome the world and inherit the promises that He gives to those who do!

Jesus' first miracle was to create 120-180 gallons of the very best wine for a party.  He was accused of being a drunk and a glutton, by the religious leaders.  I think he partied it up a bit.  I don't think He did keg stands, but you drink a lot of wine at Jewish feasts.

Matthew 11:19
The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
