Usually Revelation is linked to the apocalyps which basicly is nothing more than war and destruction.
Is Revelation really a book of war....?

All verses containing the Greek word apokalupsis. I think this simple list alone shows apocalyps means much more than war. The KJV translation of teh verses isn't really wrong; but using different words hides how those verses interconnect.
Luke 2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
Rom 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
1Cor 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Cor 14:6  Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
1Cor 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
2Cor 12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2Cor 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Gal 2:2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
2Thess 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,+
1Pet 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1Pet 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pet 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

So it's all about unveiling something. Polishing up the glass darkly. But how is that done. By Jesus walking around as shown in the classic paintings?

ACVRomans 8
19 For the eager expectation of the creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God.
==> Note that the verse uses the word sonS. Plural so it can't be about Jesus (alone).
==> So in His first coming He walked around between us.
==> The second coming is when He lives in our hearts.

The revelation of Jesus will be in 3 stages; just like the veils in the Temple and teh 3 harvest festivals.

At Pentecost, the glory of God came to inhabit our bodies, having left the old temple of Solomon that was made of mere wood and stone. This is what Paul meant when he spoke of our bodies being the temples of God. He also spoke of "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col. 1:27). Christ is indeed in us, but He is yet veiled by our flesh. In the second advent, the unveiling will make Christ apparent to all.

Yet this does not necessarily mean that all will see Him face to face. In fact, even as Moses came off the mount and found it necessary to put a veil over his face to hide the glory of God, so also will Jesus Christ return with a veil. He will be visible, yet also veiled, for there will be many on earth who, like Israel, would flee from Him in His glory (Ex. 34:30). And so, His plan is to manifest Himself in the sons of God. It is to veil Himself and His glory with their flesh, even as His glory was veiled in flesh in His first advent. Only those who have come into the full experience of the Feast of Tabernacles will actually see Him face to face with no veils to hide His glory.

The order in which we pass through the veils is the order of the 3 harvests.

1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Beloved Servant

Wonderful things WhiteWings!

The apokalupsis of man's mind!

Past, present, future or a combination?

The futurist interpretation of the book of Revelation, which is taught in many evangelical and fundamentalist circles is a recent innovation, not having been popularized until the mid-1800's. It was popularized by "Dr." Scofield, a man of dubious character who awarded himself his doctor's degree without any higher education.

In the early 1900's Scofield was backed financially by a Jewish lawyer named Samuel Untermyer, who was one of the framers of the Federal Reserve Act and was the president of the occult Lotus Club in New York. Untermyer provided Scofield with free housing for about twenty years while he wrote his notes for the Scofield Bible. His motive was undoubtedly political, laying the groundwork to convince Christians to blindly support the Jewish State, which was already being planned by certain powerful Zionist Jews. Their motives were anything but Christian.

The feast of Trumpets signifies the resurrection of the dead at the last trumpet. The Day of Atonement signifies the great day of repentance and fasting that follows the resurrection. The feast of Tabernacles is a seven-day period in which the seven drink offerings (bowls, or vials) of wine are poured out, one each day, signifying judgment. Yet at the same time the priest in the temple poured out drink offerings of water along with the wine, signifying the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39).
===> Note the resemblence with the 7 bowls of Revelation.

Jews know teh feast of trumpets also as the "Awakening blast". Awakening the dead. Resurrection.

The week of Tabernacles is the lawful time it takes to consecrate the priests who are called to rule with Christ. Rev. 5:10 and 20:6 makes reference to these priests. Of course, they are not th e old Levitical priests, but are of the Order of Melchisedec, with Jesus Christ being the High Priest (Heb. 7:17). Yet the prophetic pattern of consecration is set in Leviticus 8:35, where Aaron and his sons were to remain in the tabernacle a full seven days, emerging only on the eighth day (Lev. 9:1).

The priests poured out a pitcher of water on each of the seven days of Tabernacles. They did not do this on the eighth day, and it was on this day that Jesus shouted, "If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. . . from his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water." John 7:39 supplies us with the interpretation. John says it prophesied of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Actually, Jesus was referring to Isaiah 12:2, 3,

2 Behold, God is my Yashua ["salvation"], I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and son, and He has become my Yashua ["salvation"]. 3 Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of Yashua ["salvation"].

Revelation 1:1  "must shortly come to pass." . Shortly is 2000 years?

ACVRevelation 1
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave him to show his bondmen what must happen quickly. And he signified it, having sent by his agent to his bondman John

The seal of the bond-servant was that his master would nail his earlobe to the door of his house. This ritual "opened the ear" of the bond-servant, indicating that he had "heard" the word of the master and that his master's law was written in his heart.
This was prophetic of Jesus Christ, the Pattern Overcomer, the suffering Servant, the One in whose heart the divine law was written. Hebrews 10:5-10 applies the passage to Jesus. Yet if we say that we abide in Him, then we ought also to do as He did (1 John 2:6). Because of Adam's sin, we have all been sold to sin as debtors (Rom. 6:16-18). Christ came to redeem us, which means that He bought us, so that we now serve Him, rather than sin. Jesus has set us free, so that we have opportunity to return to Him, no longer desiring our Adamic inheritance, but to partake in Christ's inheritance.

This makes us bond-servants of Jesus Christ. He has opened our spiritual ears by nailing us to the Door, which is Jesus Himself (John 10:9). Like John and Paul, we are now bond-servants of God through attachment to Christ. We have come to have our ears opened by the "nail," having His law written on our hearts. We are no longer obedient because we have to, but because we delight to do His will. Mere servants are those who are forced to be obedient by the master's disciplines and corrections. The bond-servant is one who delights to be obedient and is eager to do all of the Master's will.

To put it another way, servants have to do their master's will; but sons want to do it.

ACVRevelation 1
7 Behold, he comes with the clouds and every eye will see him, even the men who pierced him. And all the tribes of the earth will wail against him. Yea, Truly.

The phrase, "He is coming," is the meaning of the Hebrew word, Shur, which was one of the names of the Pleiades, or Succoth. The coming of Christ is, therefore, associated with the Feast of Tabernacles and its historic fulfillment. We must also compare this with Jude 14,

14 And about these also Enoch the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones.

In other words, He came with the "clouds" and He came with "His holy ones." The holy ones are depicted as clouds. Hebrews 11 gives a partial listing of the saints, or "holy ones" in the Old Testament time and then concludes in Hebrews 12:1, "we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us."

===> That would mean He returns at/after the last harvest.

ACVRevelation 1
9 I John, your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance in Christ Jesus, happened to be on the isle that is called Patmos because of the word of God, and because of the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Unless John is still alive tribulation started in his lifetime nearly 2  millennia ago.

Tribulation started way before John. The book of Hebrews talks about the men of faith who went through tribulation.

I am not sure but either every Christian goes through tribulation i.e a type of suffering dying to self etc, or tribulation is a time of trouble or when christians are persecuted. So in todays world christians in sudan would be in tribulation but christians in Canada would not.

Verse?
Anyway Hebrews was written in John's lifetime.

I would say if tribulation has a certain good reason then both the Christians in Sudan and Canada should go trough it.
I would say Job had a tribulation too....

But looks back in time

5Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

38(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

39And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect

I just read the scripture you posted about, some having tribulation for 10 days. I think this proves that tribulation is of limited duration, which means that it is not something we go through every second, as in a type of holy spirit burning etc.

Just had a thought about those 10 days.
There are 10 days of fasting/repenting before the day of atonement (day of forgiving sins) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Days_of_Repentance
